Wow I remember this from when I was like 8, watching it *over and over and over again* on VHS. Of course I had to say it with the Tick, *"NOWWWWWW FETCH!"*
"You're a rodant! And there's nothing wrong with that. NO! If that's your life style choice, than we'll stand behind you all the way!" -One of the best lines ever!
@@solblackguy hi ho, do ya know, the names of the US residents who then became the presidents and got a view from the White House loo of Pennsylvania Avenue?
A cartoon about a nearly invincible super powered guy in a tick outfit accompanied by a timid white collar worker in an advanced flying suit shaped like a moth and their misfit allied heroes who's enemies include: A man with a chair for a head, a sentient Spanish flower, a baker, a woman who commands furniture, a midnight bomber what bombs at midnight... and the list goes on.
I remember a live-action version of the Tick, back in the mid 90s that aired on Fox network. Patrick Warburton played the Tick, much in the same deadpan style as he portrayed David Putty on Seinfeld. It was pretty funny. Too bad Fox never gave it a chance for a longer run.
They needed to have much more stuff with Speak talking like he was smart and everything. The part where he was using French to carry out diplomatic relations was truly brilliant satire. Nothing in children's entertainment is nearly that clever these days. RIP 80s and 90s good programming :(
I know this is just a cartoon, but I wanted to say: Aztecs didn't refer to themselves as Aztecs, they were Mexica. The Spanish called them Aztecs because of their descent from the ancient Azteca. They didn't always use "itlan" at the end of every sentence; if a word starts with tl, by the way, the t is silent, if it ends with tl, the l is silent. The king was actually called a tlatoani.
@@dkfrito yeah I know, I just want to point out some historical facts on real aztecs. Not these guys. They're PHONIES! Hey everyone these baseball guys are PHONIES! BIG FAT PHONIES!
3:10 This must be where they got the idea for that one Indiana Jones movie. The Tick is basically a superhero Don Quixote. "Right on" is the correct response to "I love you." The Tick's understanding of species as a lifestyle choice i just brilliant.
Referring to Speak's being a capybara instead of a dog as a 'lifestyle choice' is fucking amazing
Wow I remember this from when I was like 8, watching it *over and over and over again* on VHS. Of course I had to say it with the Tick, *"NOWWWWWW FETCH!"*
Hey it could been worse, Arthur could have had Poontah as punishment
As a kid I had no idea what this thing was
You'd think they could have at least given the artist a photo of a capybara for reference!
Nah that's the comic artists style. It's funnier this way!
you kidding me. That design is hilarious.
@@LowellLucasJr. Eeeeeeh no. The artists are just ignorants.

Holy christ dude lol
I love that ugly capybara. I love how much the Tick loves that ugly capybara. If only they could just continue the cartoon.
These guys saw a capybara one time like 20 years before they made that design. It’s like a frog creature lol
"I Love You"
"RIGHT ON!"
This show was way too good and entirety too underrated
Hell yeah. The surrealist humor is so above it's pay grade.

It still holds up.
The Proto-Venture Bros.
i love how inconsistent speak's size is. sometimes he looks like he's the length of ticks forearm and other times he's like half his size
You missed the funniest Speak moment, "Bad man hit dog with STREET!"
Oh wow! When he says, "I love you." That's been in my head for twenty years and it always makes me laugh, but I had forgotten where it came from.
I love this video. me and my oldest brother would always quote this.
Right on!
@@WessStewart Always the appropriate response. Though the mrs doesn't seem to agree...
If you can't tell the difference between a dog and a capybara, you're in trouble.
To be fair, Speak doesn’t really look much like a capybara.
@@Coolartist1110 Yeah, he looks nothing like a capybara. Real capybaras look like... well, sort of like a really big guinea pig.
Frankly speaking, he is drawn somewhat more resembling a dog than a capybara or whatever else anyway.
@@Coolartist1110 its a cartoon though. Tazz doesn't even look like a real Tasmanian devil. And lets not get started with Arthur the aardvark
Yeah, no wonder the Tick mistook it for a dog
For some reason the funniest part to me is Speak flying away from the UN and among the rabble one guy in an old times voice goes "what a dog!!" Lmao
That does look remotely like a Capybara, it looks more like a Bull Dog. I'm I right.
Honestly a great tribute to one of comics' best sidekicks.
Wow it was really bugging me... but now I realized who Arthur's voice actor is.... *Yakko from Animaniacs!!!*
There's quite a few voice actors for Animaniacs in The Tick. Shame they never did a musical, most of them are great singers.
@@solblackguy hi ho, do ya know, the names of the US residents who then became the presidents and got a view from the White House loo of Pennsylvania Avenue?
Actually, the voice actors for Tick and Arthur were also on Ninja Turtles.
Wait, aren't capybaras considered adorable?
The next time someone says, "I love you", respond "RIGHT...ON!"
8:15 the piano sounds when The Tick taps Speak's teeth 🤣
I LOVE YOU
RIGHT ON!
The tick did acknowledged capybara before it became famous

Slightly off there -- the tick animated series was in the mid 90s, the live action show was 2001.

Speak is such an inaccurate portrayal of a capybara. Also capybaras are found in South America, not Mexico.
Also, they cannot actually speak.
