- A tribute to the legendary Edward Asner. An amazing actor, an amazing man. His philanthropy work alone makes him worthy of our respect and admiration. May he rest in peace.
But I will always remember him most fondly as Hudson from "Gargoyles"
"True immortality isn't about living forever, man. It's about what you do with the time you have."
Truer words have never been spoken.
Yep, but some of us are only asking for a little more time.
"When all your scheming's done, what will be your legacies, Xanatos". R.I.P Edward Asner
"A gargoyle can no more stop protecting the castle than breathing the air." - Hudson
Hudson was always one of my favorites. The elder gargoyle proved wise, as well as capable in battle. Rest on peace, Mr. Asner.
RIP Granny Goodness

He may have passed, but he will not be forgotten.
RIP Ed Asner
Gargoyles will always have a very special place in my heart -RIP Edward Asner
His voice acting was on par with Keith David RIP Ed Asner
It's a damn shame that he's no longer with us. If nothing else, I'm at least glad he died peacefully and lived a long, fulfilling life. May he Rest in Peace.
“I’ve been alive for over 1100 years… most of my clan is dead and dust… and I am a stranger in a strange land… Demona and Macbeth are immortal… has it brought THEM happiness?”
LOVE the writing of this show and appreciate it a lot more as an adult.
Hudson reminds me of my Maternal Grandfather.
Tougher than hammered iron, old but feisty, sharp as a razor.
Bless his voice actor. Ed Asner, a tough fellow, whom lived 91 years.
Oh I hadn't heard that until I saw this video. Asner brought so much to the part (I always loved Greg's story that he honestly didn't expect to get him, only for Asner to agree and then absolutely kill it as Hudson), you could see the benefits of his experience in how he fought. He was past his physical peak and he knew it, so he used a sword.
I still think Asner's performance as he stalls Demona is one of the best in the show. Hudson knows he cannot defeat Demona alone, but he also knows that A- If he doesn't distract her Goliath is going to die and B- He doesn't NEED to defeat her, he just needs to keep her occupied until dawn. Asner conveys a lovely mix of fear, courage, wisdom and a bit of pride as they awake again and he knows he has succeeded.
Plus Asner's depiction of moments like his growingly warm friendship with Robbins, his shame at his hidden illiteracy (and several episodes later, his stumbling but successful efforts to read), all these moments were enhanced by Asner's performance.
Rest In Peace Mr Asner. You will be missed.
Goodbye Hudson you lived a good life😢
At least he lived a long good life
Rest easy old lion.
Goodbye Hudson you were my favorite gargoyle you were like a grandpa to me I mean I still have one it’s just you remind me so much of him since he lives in Ireland I would love hearing stories from you. Even at a old age you mange to out wit any Opponent you faced
As we say here, he had a good innings. Rest well Mr. Asner, you've earned it...
He will be greatly missed by all of us fans who remember him for anything he did for TV shows and Movies too and RIP Ed Asner
That tribute was beautiful!
Hudson and Granny Goodness were my favourite roles of his.
RIP Edward Asner. You will be sorely missed by many.
RIP Ed. You lived a great life. You earned a nice long rest
As someone who was born in the early 90s I had the privilege of watching gargoyles during it's run. It was thanks to Hudson that I learned growing old is a gift that many take for granted. With age and experience comes wisdom. Knowledge that we can pass down to future generations so that they won't make the mistakes we have.
Lovely tribute to one of the show's best characters. Rest in peace Mr. Asner.
Ty for the high quality.
I’ll remember him too. Especially for how outstanding he was.
Ed Asner is now that think about it is a huge part of my childhood he was mr Fredikson, and he was Santa, and he was uncle Ben in spectacular Spider-Man, but to me Hudson was his most important role for me. Gargoyles has been a big influence on who I am as a person, and Hudson will always be my favorite and so it breaks my heart to this very moment knowing that he’s gone, and that we will never get to see a great performance from him again. Hudson was the best of the gargoyles he was wise, cunning, and lazy (in a good way) and overall Hudson was the clans moral center, Hudson was what made the show so good for me, and that can all be attributed to Mr Asner, you were the best of us god bless your soul R.I.P
This is beautiful. Well done.
We all benefited so much from his work. Ed Asner will be missed greatly.
R.I.P Mr. Baxter, Granny Goodness & Hudson
Don’t forget J. Jonah Jameson and Santa from Elf
Carl Fredericksen and Uncle Ben Parker

Uncle Ben in "The Spectacular Spider-Man". Ed Wuncler in "The Boondocks"
And Carl from up
A Wonderful Selection to pay Homage with.
You’ve done a wonderful service for Mr. Asner. I think he would be honored on how quickly you made this and how well done it was made.
Holy moly I didn't think he was still alive.
Then hearing that he died.
Man definitely makes you think.
But this guy was part of my childhood.
I'll always have the memories
Of his great works and skills as an actor and voice actor to always look back and remember the life and lessons he left.
Rest in peace man 🙏💙.
Apart from Goliath Hudson still's one of my personal favorite members of the Gargoyles R.I.P Ed Anser
I Loved THIS man. I am saddened by this news. I have watched the movie "The Gathering" MANY MANY times just because Ed Asner was starring in it and it is an incredible Heartwarming Movie. Mr. Asner you were the best!
Hudson, granny goodness, ed wuncler cosgrove and my favorite j jonah jameson....rest in peace ed asner
Awww damn I was really hoping for him to be in the season 4 reboot rest in peace man, what's funny is I'm legit rewatching gargoyles already on season 2 ep 37 and 5 days later I hear about this sad news
Thank you for telling me this. I watched this show so much when I younger. I'm going to miss him.
2:56 - Hudson Was Right About Life
Thanks for creating this channel all these years ago. After just recently experiencing a personal death in my own family, the legacy line has a greater impact on me. I’ll never forget it. RIP Mr. Asner.
R.I.P. to the great Ed Asner. I would have to say "The Price" s one of my favorite Hudson episode. My mom is a fan of The Mary Tyler Show, so Lou Grant is one of her favorite characters on that show.
After all this time "I know how to wait" is the only scene I remembered from the show
i was almost nine when elf came out & that was how i first heard of him :( im glad he could still play carl in dug days b4 he died. i was soooo excited when it started on the first & i bet so was he. he definitely watched it in heaven & probably is right now. r.i.p. ed asner :(
I always loved the fight between Hudson and Demona, because it shows that while Demona is just as old as Hudson, and HAS gone through the process of aging (before she met Macbeth), she never accepted it. She never learned from it. She's always been the same reckless, short sighted, vindictive monster she was back in 990 AD.
Dam I can’t believe he’s gone ❤️😭good bye old friend you will missed loved in gargoyles😞
Hatson always with good philosophy about leaving doing the Right things. Love gargoyles protectors of the night. Cool
Thanks for all the wonderful memories and the fantastic adventures with us on Earth, Ed Asner. Now, go have yourself a brand new adventure in Heaven. May God bless your gentle soul.
Ed Asner was PER-FECTION as Hudson. He not only did a phenomenal job in Spider-Man the animated as Peter Parter’s boss. And he got that same respect during Gargoyles~
“When all your scheming is done, what will your legacy be, Xanatos?”
Don’t worry Hudson, you lived a long life, but you taught us an awful lot about learning how to wait~ And making sure we leave something behind with the time we all have. But you’re gonna be a part of that. With the memories and lessons you taught us~
I don't remember him as J. Jonah Jameson, but I do remember Ed as Uncle Ben in "The Spectacular Spider-Man" (also produced by Greg Weisman).
This is why (among other reasons) is why they should never reboot Gargoyles. You can’t replace top notch acting like that.
Agreed.
great work dude ed would be proud
RIP Ed Asner, his voice was made for this character.
This voice would be missed
#KeepBingingGargoyles
Thank you ❤😮❤
Wow Amazing Acting and Lines wow
Goodbye, Mr Fredricksen and thanks for Disney/Pixar's "UP"
i was sooooo damn excited when dug days started on the first & i bet so was he. he definitely watched it in heaven. im glad he could still play carl b4 he died. r.i.p. ed aka carl :(
What I would give for him to have lived long enough till Gargoyles returned like X-Men did.
I love the Hudson part where he proves he is useful
Only head of Ed through Up & Boondocks. R.I.P
I love this Cartoon
Kind of late to the game considering I knew this happened already but this video made me cry so hard
R.I.P.
Ed Asner
Nov 15, 1929 - Aug 29, 2021
The best warrior old but still lethal
He was a good Hudson. RIP
total legend
God damn rest in peace…
Another is his work on the movie up.
Now he's up in heaven.
Including his other works on other classic TV shows.
Take the time and Google his history of his work you would be surprised at what he has done.
Master Vrook forever
Ed also did 3 movies with Tom Bosley, namely Gus(1976) O'Hara's Wife(1982) and Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night(1987)!!!
Ed Asner (The Voice of Hudson)
Are you kidding me he died?! NO MAN NOOOOOO!!!! 😢😢😢 rip
Hi my name is Christopher David Ellison Junior loves Hudson the old Beard Gargoyle.
Since Ed Asner (Hudson's voice from Gargoyles) has passed away, I was wondering if that Gargoyles animated series would get rebooted/remade or revived for his honor?
RIP Mr Asner aka Santa clause
To the one person who disliked the video. If you are reading this. Please remove it. That's simply all I ask, this is to remember someone who passed away. I don't care if you didn't like the video, but do what we all do. Keep it to yourself or vent it to someone who isn't connected to this.
Ed Asner, may the many happy memories you gave us lift you to heaven. Rest in peace.
RIP Hudson
He was the J.Jonah Jameson I grew up with. 😔
I just found out that he voiced Hudson... And I'm upset! Rip.
that one galiathgoliath chronicles episode of where hudson goes blind should be A part of the comic books
No it shouldn't. Goliath Chronicles isn't canon and it never should be. But we did have Robbins reveal that he figured out Hudson was a gargoyle long ago in #5 of the SLG run.
Wait!! He was In gargoyles!?!?!? I never knew that!!!
Rest in peace, Mr. Asner.
A little unrelated but some of your videos have the comments disabled on them. If it's not too much trouble, could you re-enable them for interesting discussion?
Now he’s in heaven with Fedsmoker
What Hudson said to Xanatos gave me ideas for a Titanic Story that I am writing about which is about these two ten year old cousins who sailed on the Titanic and Survived the nightmare of the shipwreck with their own courage and witts and their broken friendship but with great cost obviously meaning their families from their parents and older siblings did not survive and the sinking of the Titanic brings the two cousins relationship more closer and helps them reconcile.
What was Xanatos planning to do to Hudson?
You're now in a better place with tomiii 11.
Oh damn Hudson is gone for real? Oh how dreadful😔
Got that right 2:22
Ed asner is dead? When?
Actually, Demona should technically be older than Hudson. She was awake all those centuries while Hudson slept...
Semantics... and despite everything, Demona managed to not learn how to be patient, to wait, etc. And how much did Hudson know about Demona's life when he said that?
@@GregXB3 yeah, she had such a long life yet didn't learn how to wait.
0:43 open this cage and I’ll show you how USELESS I AM
I never understood why he wanted to dip Hudson into that vat. Couldn't he have just used a rat??
Rest in Peace Hudson
