All these premium bikes are pretty much excellent, but also kind of in the land of fantasy for me at least. Would be nice to have some reviews of more affordable machines sometime :)
Ah perhaps it's because I'm looking at a 390 Duke at the moment, kind of a big contrast hah. And I just found your Duke 690 review, so I'll just shut up ;)
Renzsu 390 Duke, great bike. I bought one for commuting when I had a 1290 Superduke R. You know what, come the weekend I found myself riding the 390 so much more often. Excellent real-world machine. King of the roundabout ;)
Another great video. I like the way your reviews are aimed at us mere mortals and not knee dragging Moto GP wannabes. Ridden how most people would ride and looking at the things you need to know about.
Wow you are really putting out the reviews lately Missenden flyer. But Bucks is nice this time of year, spent my uni days at High Wycombe! Top quality work as usual, one of the best on UA-cam in my opinion and done with intelligence. I like watching the speedo when you blur it out ha ha. Regards Aaron
I purchased this R1 and I think it is the comfiest, no wrist, back pain or your nuts crushed against the tank, seat is a bit wider, I am 5 8" and I am on my toes. This is my 4th R1 and all the previous bikes were similar, this as broken the mould. It took me a bit of time to get used to the looks of the front end but now I love it.
Yes I wasn't sure of the looks to start with but they definitely grow on you, I now think this is second only to the Panigale in the beauty stakes.....
I like your reviews because not only are they structured, you cover details, impressions and point out details that are interesting and fun (good and bad). May you someday overcome the curse of 'white van man' though, he's everywhere haunting you!!!

TheMissendenFlyer I think you'd be surprised..... You're the best channel on UA-cam and I watch all your videos as do many other thousands of people. Keep em coming.
Excellent. I bought one of these beauties in 2016 and I love it so much. However, you're correct in what you say that modern litre bikes are just to much for the roads these days. They have all the power and toys to make you feel like Rossi when you're on board but you just can't use a quarter of this bike's performance on public roads, (not without risking your licence, life and the life of everyone around you) and in hindsight the MT-10 SP would have been a better choice. However, I have what I have and rather than take a big hit on selling it, I'm stripping off all of its road going clothing in favour of a set of pattern race attire, getting it sprung and fuelled correctly and it will be my full time track bike where it belongs.
Another great review! I agree with you, these modern litre bikes are truely weapons. Unfortunately, in Sydney with speed cameras everywhere, it would be very hard to keep one's licence. ;-) I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the 2017 R6.
In Brisbane it is not so much the speed cameras but police cars & bikes coming around every fouth corner with radar technology that kills the speed buzz. I really do come across a traffic police car/bike on every ride without fail. Hence, I ride a tourer that can enjoy pottering along at 100Km/h. Feel sorry for sport bike riders here-little chance to legally stretch their legs without risking big fines and demerit points.
You have to be out on real country roads to have a chance to stretch your sports bike legs-very out of the way roads. In Western Australia you are allowed to have radar detectors but not on the east coast of Australia...there you could get your speed up. Also in remote spots and in the Northern Territory you can see for miles down straight roads and can whip along at a fair old pace. For most though, tourers and cruisers are a safer option, since you can enjoy plodding along at 100/110Km/h. On the plus side Australia is a massive country of USA size so lots of places to ride, some less policed than others.
Great review....I agree with you almost wasted on the roads. From what I can see on the review its rapid! The styling is awesome. The blue rims really finish the sporty look.
Thank you for your informative video. I am particularly interested in how it copes with being able to bimble along at normal road speeds. I will be getting this instead of the original idea which was to get the GSX-R. Thanks.
14:45, these things start like crap too? My '12 was a bitch to get started... particularly when it was cold. Anything below 38 degrees F... forget about it.
You don't see a ton about it because most Liter SS guys don't ride in colder weather. If you dig into the forums though, most brave enough to embrace cold weather riding on an R1 deal with this unfortunately. :( I might be buying this exact color R1 tomorrow. How did you like that color compared to the other options in '17?
Indeed - it's that particular dealer though, the place I bought mine (Ducati Croydon) could not have been more helpful - the local lot can get on their bike as far as I'm concerned....
TheMissendenFlyer FiL had a scrambler off them 2 years ago now refuses to have anything else to do with them, he certainly got on his bike and went elsewhere 🖒
another great one!really enjoy every one of these reviews!would love if you could take the suzuki gsxs 750 2017 for a spin because i am considering of buying it. thank you and keep it up!
Interesting and informative review of an interesting bike. It seems virtually every bike you ride is more comfortable than your Panigale, does that mean you find the Panigale less than comfortable? On that subject do you own your Panigale because of what it is or the way it does things? Just curious. I've never owned a Ducati and they do seem to have compromises, then again I suppose all bikes do. cheers tony
Yes well spotted - I loved the look of the Panigale when I first saw it and truth be told the Panigale was the first sports bike I ever rode, and I bought one because it's performance was incredible and it looked simply gorgeous (both still true statements!). Of late I've ridden lots of sports bikes, and they've all been more comfortable than the Panigale and just as quick. I'd still take the Panigale though.....and we say women are illogical!!
TheMissendenFlyer if I had one you could happily borrow it for the day! Unfortunately I only own the original Tuono... not quite in the same league but if you ever find yourself up north you can take the old girl out!!
Hi MD, great video as always. I know it's very similar to what you own now but could you test the Honda crf250 Rally? Be interested to see what you make of it as I'm thinking of getting one.
Completely agree awesome looking bike only bested by the Duc. Shocked about your comments on comfort and seat height this was the main reason I was not looking at this bike.
TheMissendenFlyer I think the Panigale is 830mm seat height with the R1 at 855mm. Can you remember if it was much different in getting you foot down on the r1? Can you advise What is your inseam I'm 5ft8 too but have short legs 😪 . Also if someone said They would swap their r1 for your 899 would you do it ?
Another great review TMF, thanks :) I'm curious, how much difference is there between your 899 and the r1? Would the fact that your bike is lighter mean that 'real world' performance is really quite similar?
Well you're right, there is very little difference in performance, in fact I think the 899 up to 60 might even be quicker - completely different character of bike though, the R1 is smooth and howls, the Panigale is LOUD, characterful and roars!
Bought mine a couple of weeks ago for track, mainly. Took it straight to the mountains for 2 days & 650 miles of break in. If you think it's quick stock, try it with a 3/4 exhaust, minus ~20lbs of power choking emissions hardware. If you want more bite from the brakes, change the pads. Stock fork settings are stiff for me, even at 215lbs, rear soft. Front may work OK for awhile-we'll see after ~1500 miles. Rear, not so much. Ohlins TTX shock and flash kit inbound. Mirrors work OK for me...much wider and they might scrape the ground. ;)
Dammit...I might have to change my UA-cam alias after watching this video as the bias in the garage might swing from 2 Honda's and a Yammy...to 2 Yammy's and one Honda. Great review as always
Really enjoyable review as usual, bit curious about your gear selections though. At around 5.00 mins you stated "look I'm ONLY in 2nd at 60mph", well that might have been impressive in my old 1964 ford Anglia, but all these litre bikes do 100 mph or so in 1st, so to me 60 mph in 2nd is just wasting fuel and creating noise. Even in top gear from 60 it will still be eye wateringly (is that a word?) responsive. Maybe too many miles on the Panigale, as from experience i know that big V twins dont like low speed high gear. Still enjoyed the review though
+PistolPete63 Depends what you mean by better - I'd take an R1 over the S1000RR on looks grounds but there's very little to separate them in terms of ride....
TheMissendenFlyer I guess I'm thinking about the whole package and riding experience. How both bikes make you feel overall as well as sound which is important to many riders. I think if I had the choice of you hose 2 I'd go with the Yamaha R1, I love the looks and sound! Thanks for another great review!
That's cool, same thing as anything else these days as far as being to much. It's all about how you have respect for the bike. I don't race and I'm sure not in a hurry anywhere but I just like the bike, in the color so yes it will be my first but I do appreciate your opinion thanks for repsonding back though.
I would urge you not to learn the hard way, we all think we have respect for the bike, but temptation to wind on the throttle is huge....I speak from experience here!! We're all grown ups though, so your call of course....
Great bike and terrific review! It's a wondrous bike, but I've not business on an R1. It made me so happy to see the new "little brother" R6. I had to laugh, you could have done your entire ride around Scotland and never gone above second gear! LOL!
Thanks TMD, so Ducati aside, you've ridden the three main 1000cc bikes, Honda Blade, BMW RR , now the Yamaha R1, if you had to swop the Ducati for one, which would you choose? I'm sure there all mental!
Unlimited zone or National speed limit. The former sounds the way to go. Looks great Really enjoy your reviews. Pity you can't get your hands on some Dukes.
Wow that looks a nice bike love the sports bikes but I chose to go for comfort over looks and speed I've got a Suzuki GSX650F Sports Tourer that has got everything I love it, and you can get them at a budget price as well. Good videos mate all the best ride safe from Trucking Biker
I think the R1M is perfect for me. I thought about buying an RSV4RF or even the V4S, but there's just something about the M model R1 that twinkles my eye. I don't ride yet and I probably won't until a year or two goes by with my saturation diving gigs.
What's good man great tutorial, I'm thinking about purchasing this bike as my first ever bike what is your thoughts? But my responds back would be the only thing you have to fear, is fear itself lol.
Normally your road test impressions are very accurate, on this occasion there not in my opinion. I also rode the R1 and there is no way you could do hundreds of miles in a day on one! the position you sit in isn't comfortable, the suspension is harsh and doesn't take kindly to uneven tarmac roads as the shock goes through your body rather than is soaked up by the suspension. I own a 2001 VTR1000SP1 and the R1 has the exact riding position and harsh suspension like that, the R1 has an amazing engine and electronics but to be honest anyone that does mostly track days this is the machine to buy as it would be stunning on track, but if you mainly ride on the road the only machine to buy sports bikes wise is the BMW S1000RR as its a phenomenal road bike! Your comment "you could ride to the alps on it " you would need a new spine if you did a trip to the alps!!
Well it is just my opinion and I'm mainly comparing it to my personal benchmark which is my Panigale...I found the R1 considerably more comfortable than that, but as I say, it's just my opinion....
Technically they are against the law but many people use them (including me) and have never had an issue - I think if you were stopped wearing one at night you might have an issue with the old bill....
Do you think the R3 makes more sense though, for real world use?I think you said that sounded just as good as a bigger bike and plenty of useable power...( and less likely to send you home in a wooden box..)
Yes I do, or better still, the R6 - looking forward to riding the new version of that ASAP :0) ...the R1 is a brilliant bike, but really only of proper use to serious track day enthusiasts in my opinion, as you can't get anywhere near it's performance limits on the public road...
Not exactly, but I've done OK for myself and made sure I planned/saved appropriately! Maybe I should do a Q&A some day and give you guys a bit more personal info.....(sounds a bit scary to me)....
TheMissendenFlyer yes please do it and explain what you used to do. It may inspire some people. Many of us are left wondering how people like you can afford such beautiful machines.
It's not relevant to the content really. The content does a very nice job and your privacy is not easily retrieved. When something goes on the Internet it's best assumed that it will be out there into perpetuity. 😉
TheMissendenFlyer it's probably more the point they spend fortunes on systems then never adjust the fueling, his was so bad I had to get off it as it was making me sick, try a constant throttle and it was like it was running on go go juice it was so bad
@@TheMissendenFlyer okey thanks... because somehow i just can find the informatio that is Standard at 2018... but thx for answer.... i need to search more
I think a modern 600cc bike with all the electronic aids that the R1 has (GPS and data logger included) along with proper good suspension and brakes would make me a lot happier than a 1000cc bike with all of these. I know the 1000cc will be a lot faster but we will ever need the extra power on a track. In the city a 20kg weight reduction would be a lot more valuable...
Of all the supersports this is the one I would have....BUT never ever in the UK. way too many restrictions and penalties for a bike that extreme. Don't live there any longer but feel bad for all my old riding mates.
Great review of the organ donor special. I love seeing these exotic missiles but do agree a sense of proportion required. How about reviewing a sub 3 k bike of yesteryear to broaden the appeal to more realistic budgets and at the same time demonstrate the leaps and bounds bikes have come on?
Gary Campbell I still think these bikes are pretty well priced for what you are getting, and with the finance deals going that are going on you can't go wrong. sooner that than spend 3 or 4 k on a bike which has been thrashed for 20k.
You can review my 2009 fire blade if you like, or my 2011 CB1000r perhaps. I'm reasonably local to you (Oxfordshire) so could meet you somewhere halfway unless you want to have a change of scenery and take a ride round the cotswolds?
"Just coming into the unlimited zone"
classic line😂 I think thats exactly what goes through every bikers mind when they see that sign!

Anonymous Biker The national go like F sign.
Cheers AB - will do!
Anonymous Biker what time was this
Bike Life about 1.20
Been wanting to test ride one of these for ages. Gonna have to book one in after watching this. Great review once again.
I think you're going to like it!
All these premium bikes are pretty much excellent, but also kind of in the land of fantasy for me at least. Would be nice to have some reviews of more affordable machines sometime :)
Stay tuned Rensu - I've wanted to ride the mega-bikes for ages but I promise I will be riding real-world machines too....
Chris Burgess yup, as they say.. its more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow!
Chris Burgess That's good to hear, I had a 690 Enduro for a while, but it was just too rowdy, made me ride like an idiot.
New subscriber great channel mate!
Thank you, welcome along! What kept you??? :0)
your videos are really simple .. just the right bit of details nd nothin fancy ... good job mate ...
+Aravind Parameswaran Thank you - I'm a simple chap...
Another great video. I like the way your reviews are aimed at us mere mortals and not knee dragging Moto
GP wannabes. Ridden how most people would ride and looking at the things you need to know about.
Thank you Bob, that is my intention, I try to make videos I would watch myself (a bit sad really I guess!).....
Thanks Aaron - I can only agree with you ;0)
I purchased this R1 and I think it is the comfiest, no wrist, back pain or your nuts crushed against the tank, seat is a bit wider, I am 5 8" and I am on my toes.
Yes I love the riding position on my R1M. I feel great on it. #1 all around super sport made.
I like your reviews because not only are they structured, you cover details, impressions and point out details that are interesting and fun (good and bad). May you someday overcome the curse of 'white van man' though, he's everywhere haunting you!!!
Cheers Scott - he gets everywhere!!
Hi TMF i was begining to wonder how you found the time to do all these reviews and now i know. Love the looks of the sports bikes but they are about as practicle as a choclate firegaurd. Now we are all getting older i like the more upright rides available to us nowadays. Really am enjoying your vids its nearly a TV station, better programes anyway.
Thank you dadwold - actually you'd be surprised how long it does take to make these videos, I'm working longer hours doing this than I did when I was working! Much more fun though....although the pay is somewhat poorer (understatement of the year)....
TheMissendenFlyer have you thought about a patreon account/ system?
Yes I have, but I'm not sure anyone would actually pay for this stuff....not only that but I would feel a little uncomfortable asking (not saying that I won't in future or that there's anything wrong with people who do Patreon I might add)....
TheMissendenFlyer I think you'd be surprised..... You're the best channel on UA-cam and I watch all your videos as do many other thousands of people. Keep em coming.

However, I have what I have and rather than take a big hit on selling it, I'm stripping off all of its road going clothing in favour of a set of pattern race attire, getting it sprung and fuelled correctly and it will be my full time track bike where it belongs.
...and it'll be amazeballs on track....good idea I reckon, enjoy!
Another great review! I agree with you, these modern litre bikes are truely weapons. Unfortunately, in Sydney with speed cameras everywhere, it would be very hard to keep one's licence. ;-) I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the 2017 R6.
+Sam I am Yes that's a bike I really can't wait to ride, might be that little more "real world". Thanks for watching...TMF

Cheers Keith :0)
Fantastic you got to test most of the latest litre bikes within such a short space of time 👍👌
Almost as if I planned it that way isn't it ;0)
That grunt! 😱 beautiful bike!
u give attention to every detail! superb review!
Thank you MB - appreciated!
Great bike and review, love the color
Thanks as ever Jack - great paintwork on the Yamahas too....
the blue in the R1 is really lovley and that cross plain engine.just listen to that sound track
Agreed, sounds amazeballs.....
CP4 engine has the very best sound, both in the R1 and especially in the MT10. Great video again Andy.
Thanks 👍
You gotta love those white vans. Lol. Nice to hear your review of the bike. I need to ride one of these.
+Chris Bramblett I dare you too!
Nice review. I got it, it does have a quick shifter.
Yes it does!
I'm not a sports bikes fan but watched the whole bloody vid because it's such a great review!
Aww Greg, you say the nicest things - thanks very much, appreciate the kind comment!
Bike looks stunning !!
Great review....I agree with you almost wasted on the roads. From what I can see on the review its rapid! The styling is awesome. The blue rims really finish the sporty look.

Very nice review sir, it's been a while since I've heard the expression "What a hoot" lol.
How about "splash it all over" - heard that one recently?? ;0)
Thank you for your informative video. I am particularly interested in how it copes with being able to bimble along at normal road speeds. I will be getting this instead of the original idea which was to get the GSX-R.
Thanks.
Great bike mate
Why so many dislikes...he is one of my favorite channel for motorcycle content.
Thank you very much!
On the back of your S1000RR review, I took one out - I feel an R1 test ride is now needed :)
Why wouldn't you ;0) ....enjoy....
14:45, these things start like crap too? My '12 was a bitch to get started... particularly when it was cold. Anything below 38 degrees F... forget about it.

"Beastage"? My new favourite word! Nice review Mr TMF!
Cheers Andy, what, you're saying I made that up? ;0)
you took that fly for quite a spin
Hehe, yes, I'm not sure he'll be riding pillion on too many more R1's though!
Tony Tng 😂👍
The last thing that went through his mind.......was his rear end ;-)
would like to see some more vids on the new street 3 rs
+Jim V More on the way Jim, stay tuned!
Hi, another top class review. Have you any plans to try out the new Ducati Supersport?
Would love too, unfortunately the local Ducati dealer doesn't answer my e-mails or return my calls :0(
TheMissendenFlyer And that tells you all you need to know about their customer service!
Indeed - it's that particular dealer though, the place I bought mine (Ducati Croydon) could not have been more helpful - the local lot can get on their bike as far as I'm concerned....
TheMissendenFlyer FiL had a scrambler off them 2 years ago now refuses to have anything else to do with them, he certainly got on his bike and went elsewhere 🖒
...not the first time I've heard that unfortunately....
Actually you had pretty good luck this day finding spaces for acceleration. The bike definitely built for track days. Thanks again Sir........Sal : )
another great one!really enjoy every one of these reviews!would love if you could take the suzuki gsxs 750 2017 for a spin because i am considering of buying it. thank you and keep it up!
Thank you - will see what I can do!
TheMissendenFlyer appreciate it
Yay yamaha thanks missendenflyer
You're welcome!

TheMissendenFlyer Panigale is very comfortable if you fit the touring seat :-)
I have no problem with the Panigale - have ridden it for 2 hours today and it was a hoot, who cares about the seat!! :0)
TheMissendenFlyer I ride my Panigale for 4 to 6 hours fairly regularly and have no problems with comfort, well provided the roads aren't too bumpy ;-)
Yeah, there is that..... :0)
Next premium bike... Aprilia Tuono!! Pleeeeease.
Love your reviews TMF, keep it up!!
Would love ago on one of those David, just need to find someone willing to lend me one!
TheMissendenFlyer if I had one you could happily borrow it for the day! Unfortunately I only own the original Tuono... not quite in the same league but if you ever find yourself up north you can take the old girl out!!
Cheers David :0)
Hi MD, great video as always.
I know it's very similar to what you own now but could you test the Honda crf250 Rally?
Be interested to see what you make of it as I'm thinking of getting one.
I'm working on it!
Would like to see you try a Rsv4 flyer, owned a early r1 ten years and can't get on with the looks of the current generation at all !
Yes I'd love a go on one...and I think this current R1 looks the business.....although it's grown on me, wasn't too sure when it was first released...
Completely agree awesome looking bike only bested by the Duc. Shocked about your comments on comfort and seat height this was the main reason I was not looking at this bike.
What you thought it too high/uncomfortable you mean?
+TheMissendenFlyer yes exactly entry review I have seen state it's extremely high and uncomfortable bike, even the Baron said it is extreme
Not compared to my Panigale it's not....if you want extreme, try the BMW RnineT Racer.....!

Bought mine a couple of weeks ago for track, mainly. Took it straight to the mountains for 2 days & 650 miles of break in. Nice review. Even the R1M comes with those brakes...
Really? Crikey......
As a soon to be R3 owner, this is the bike I dream of
+Jorge Chávez You're time will come Jorge, the R3 is a great bike....enjoy!
Thank you very much :)
Love 'R's and love your videos
to change tc etc, you just have to be off the throttle.
Another great review! That crossplane engine sounds very similar to my VFR 800 (Try one you'll see what I mean) Many thanks.
I'd love a go on a VFR 800 - they do sound lovely from what I can tell.....
Happy days 😃
Agreed...
Terrific review. Better than the BMW s1000rr?
+PistolPete63 Depends what you mean by better - I'd take an R1 over the S1000RR on looks grounds but there's very little to separate them in terms of ride....
TheMissendenFlyer I guess I'm thinking about the whole package and riding experience. How both bikes make you feel overall as well as sound which is important to many riders. I think if I had the choice of you hose 2 I'd go with the Yamaha R1, I love the looks and sound! Thanks for another great review!
Yes I probably would too....
What a bike indeed...and a great review as always...it must be so annoying the way that insect always blurs the speedo :-)
Great bike and terrific review! It's a wondrous bike, but I've not business on an R1. It made me so happy to see the new "little brother" R6.
I had to laugh, you could have done your entire ride around Scotland and never gone above second gear! LOL!
+giff74 Agreed, when you'd ever use higher gears on this bike I just don't know! ;0)
Are you going to do a review of the 2017 RSV4 rr/rf?
WOuld love too, if only I could get hold of one to try!
What's your preference, the s1000rr or the r1?
R1 - mainly due looks
That is what i am trying to decide, which bike did you end up preferring?
Thanks TMD, so Ducati aside, you've ridden the three main 1000cc bikes, Honda Blade, BMW RR , now the Yamaha R1, if you had to swop the Ducati for one, which would you choose?
I'm sure there all mental!
My bad, you replied to an earlier comment R1, fair enough.
...but today I rode the Suzuki GSXR1000!
TheMissendenFlyer ahhhhh. . . . .
Ducati, stunning looks
R1, sounds amazing
Honda, refined, comfy
BMW, wow
GSXR . . . . . We await your thoughts 😊
Stay tuned!
Unlimited zone or National speed limit. The former sounds the way to go. Looks great Really enjoy your reviews. Pity you can't get your hands on some Dukes.
+hudsonrilke Doesn't it! ....sadly of course the latter is correct...
Wow that looks a nice bike love the sports bikes but I chose to go for comfort over looks and speed I've got a Suzuki GSX650F Sports Tourer that has got everything I love it, and you can get them at a budget price as well. Good videos mate all the best ride safe from Trucking Biker
+TRUCKING BIKER Thank you TB - same to you!
Love that little road to Thame! Shame all 1k cc bikes are now £15k!
Me too - loving the avatar by the way, just ripped past there on my Street Triple about 25 minutes ago...and agree re pricing :0(
R1 or MT10?
At 11:33 is that damage to the engine casing (where it says CP4) or just mud?
+spartacus 8058 I think it's a bit of mud....
I think the R1M is perfect for me. I thought about buying an RSV4RF or even the V4S, but there's just something about the M model R1 that twinkles my eye. I don't ride yet and I probably won't until a year or two goes by with my saturation diving gigs.
S1000rr or R1 which would you buy???
R1 mainly on looks grounds (I know I know sad)....
Here in Australia u can get a s1000rr for the same if not cheaper then a R1 and personality between u and me i think the new R1 looks boring
Great review but watched one that said the bike is uncomfortable, but u said it was ok maybe down height I think?again great vid thanks👍
Thanks for watching and for stopping by Dukedaz....all the best - TMF
Really interested to know how you think this bike compares against the MT09? Obviously more expensive but....?
What's good man great tutorial, I'm thinking about purchasing this bike as my first ever bike what is your thoughts? But my responds back would be the only thing you have to fear, is fear itself lol.
Thanks - Personally though I wouldn't recommend this as a first bike, way to powerful in my opinion....
You do make me chuckle when you comment on white van man or Kia ceed's.
It's like you can't help yourself, very funny
Well the B£00&y things are everywhere!
Nice one,thks.
Cheers Bruce..
Power mode B vs C ? Is there a big difference? Newbie here riding on C ... rainy season here so can’t go to B yet ...
Yes there is...best be safe in the rainy season!
How did you find the seat height? I'm quite short at 5'6" and the seat heights often put me off with sports bikes.
Pretty good as I said in the video, no issue for me at 5'8"
I have a Ducati 899 myself and I am considering changing it to an R1. How would you compare it to the 899?
Faster, smoother, easier to ride....
Even from your review, it makes me want one. Thanks mate 👍
Omg 2nd gear doing 60mph and it sounds like idle!
Tell me about it! Nuts performance....!
Are you allowed to have tinted visors over there? I bought a visor for my helmet and it had a disclaimer saying it was illegal in Europe.
Technically they are against the law but many people use them (including me) and have never had an issue - I think if you were stopped wearing one at night you might have an issue with the old bill....
TheMissendenFlyer makes sense. I’m from the US and we can have whatever we want. Either way, ride safe
someone had said in another review that really not nessisary to have anything bigger than a 600cc on most urban roads..makes sense to me
Yes I agree....(well 675 so my Street Triple is counted :0)
So do I trade my 2020 r6 on this 2017 r1 🤔
hi you did mention that you are 5’8”? and can flat foot the bike, how long is your inseam then? thanks!
I have a 32” leg if that helps?
I have a 32” leg if that helps?
Do you think the R3 makes more sense though, for real world use?I think you said that sounded just as good as a bigger bike and plenty of useable power...( and less likely to send you home in a wooden box..)
Yes I do, or better still, the R6 - looking forward to riding the new version of that ASAP :0) ...the R1 is a brilliant bike, but really only of proper use to serious track day enthusiasts in my opinion, as you can't get anywhere near it's performance limits on the public road...
I can't believe you're retired. You must of had a high flying job in the city?
Not exactly, but I've done OK for myself and made sure I planned/saved appropriately! Maybe I should do a Q&A some day and give you guys a bit more personal info.....(sounds a bit scary to me)....
TheMissendenFlyer yes please do it and explain what you used to do. It may inspire some people. Many of us are left wondering how people like you can afford such beautiful machines.
it would be interesting as long as its not uncomfortable for you Sir
Hmm, I'll think about it :0)
It's not relevant to the content really. The content does a very nice job and your privacy is not easily retrieved. When something goes on the Internet it's best assumed that it will be out there into perpetuity. 😉
No problem with the throttle,? My friends have them and I cannot believe how terrible the fuelling is on initial throttle
I didn't notice any issue, but then I'm probably not that sensitive! ....I was more focused on hanging on!
TheMissendenFlyer it's probably more the point they spend fortunes on systems then never adjust the fueling, his was so bad I had to get off it as it was making me sick, try a constant throttle and it was like it was running on go go juice it was so bad
1299 or R1? now that you've ridden both.
+Grexx Close call but I reckon 1299 (or 899) - the R1 is fabulous, but the Ducati is oh so pretty to my eyes.....
So jealous of your chances to ride English roads. Glad to know you make the most of it on great machines like the R1.
+Barry Roberts Cheers Barry, not sure there's too much to be jealous about!!
does this machine has a downshift as standart? the bike is 2017 rn 49, right?
I think so but I don't honestly 100% remember...
@@TheMissendenFlyer okey thanks... because somehow i just can find the informatio that is Standard at 2018... but thx for answer.... i need to search more
16:23 that thing on the camera is really bugging me ;)
**badum, tss**
Very good sir, I see what you did there....
did you prefer this, the 'Blade or the BMW?
This - mostly because of looks, they’re all blisteringly fast bikes....
Sir what is your height? Is it comfortable for short riders below 5.7?
I’m 5’8”
Hi
This R1 is better than the new Gixxer?
+András Vrbovszki Not necessarily - love the looks of the R1 but think I prefer the ride on the Gixxer....
TheMissendenFlyer thanks!!!
Which one would you recommend best for road r1 or bmw s1000rr?
Well neither is very good as a road bike IMO - I guess the BMW may be easier to live with???
4-line ?? Crossplane bro tho ??
Thank 😋🙏you for the review ✌️👋
+FinGeRs CroSseD You’re welcome - glad you enjoyed it :0)
after riding the new gsxr 1000 I think you should compare the new Japanese bikes
I rode the GSXR on Monday :0)
I think a modern 600cc bike with all the electronic aids that the R1 has (GPS and data logger included) along with proper good suspension and brakes would make me a lot happier than a 1000cc bike with all of these. I know the 1000cc will be a lot faster but we will ever need the extra power on a track. In the city a 20kg weight reduction would be a lot more valuable...
I'm hoping that's what the new R6 will be offering, can't wait to give that a try....
TheMissendenFlyer wasn't it already released and recalled this year? It didn't have anything as impressive as the R1
Of all the supersports this is the one I would have....BUT never ever in the UK. way too many restrictions and penalties for a bike that extreme. Don't live there any longer but feel bad for all my old riding mates.
Well I tend to agree Ray - I'd have this if I was a track day aficionado but I'm not sure these litre sports bikes make sense on the road....
How tall are u I'm 5.9 will I be okay with this bike
I'm 5'8" with a 32" leg.....you'll be fine
Noooooo, another review already TMF? You have ridden more bikes than most of us cups of tea. Lovely bike though
Sorry Jonathan, should I stop?
Hahaha, by all means NO! Carry on if you please. Your reviews brighten up my days
how would you rate it vs the BMW S1000RR?
Very similar bike but better looking, the BMW does get heated grips though.....
If someone gave you a free bike to be your only road bike would you take the R1 or MT10?
MT10 I reckon....just because it's a little more every day practical....
Great review of the organ donor special. I love seeing these exotic missiles but do agree a sense of proportion required. How about reviewing a sub 3 k bike of yesteryear to broaden the appeal to more realistic budgets and at the same time demonstrate the leaps and bounds bikes have come on?
Yes would love too, what have you got for me ;0)
Gary Campbell I still think these bikes are pretty well priced for what you are getting, and with the finance deals going that are going on you can't go wrong. sooner that than spend 3 or 4 k on a bike which has been thrashed for 20k.
You can review my 2009 fire blade if you like, or my 2011 CB1000r perhaps. I'm reasonably local to you (Oxfordshire) so could meet you somewhere halfway unless you want to have a change of scenery and take a ride round the cotswolds?
I miss the look of the last gen r1's :( It does not look like an R1 anymore.
Yes it is quite a departure from the old look, but I personally think this is just as good, if not nicer looking....great bike whatever!
TheMissendenFlyer the circular light underneath the cool looking LED's is what ruins it for me :(
