Love how he calls the rescued birds “kiddo”. 50 years of rescuing wild birds and critters, all volunteered time, shows that Martin is not only a “Healer of Eagles” (see their book which I highly recommend), but is also an angel himself.
Martin, I have watched 100s of rescue videos here on UA-cam. Mostly cats, some dogs...lol...And I've never really paid much attention to how I felt about birds of prey. Or birds period. But there is just something about you and these BEAUTIFUL birds ( I'm partial to the golden eagles for some reason...lol) that makes my heart smile!!! You are a very special person and I can tell you LOVE doing what you do!! And I think you are an amazing human being!!! You AND your beautiful wife!!! (Even your amazing relationship makes my heart swell) THANK YOU for what you do for these amazing animals!!! And I really want to thank you for educating me!!! You are my favorite rescuer on UA-cam!! And that's saying a LOT bc un a HUGE cat lover!!!...lol...And I LOVE that you share your amazing gift with the rest of the world!! Thank you so much!!! And thank you for filling my heart with such joy and happiness!!! It means more to me than you will ever know!!! I pray you and your family have the very BEST and most BLESSED Thanksgiving!!!
Once again you save a beautiful creature. That guy was "very" nervous, which can be expected, but he did great. Vey interesting facts about their eyesight and Tallon strength. If a human had that power he would be Superman.❤👍
Seeing the expression on that man Alan's face once he has the eagle in his arms - he may as well have been a 10 year old. Or a father. There was such absolute love. No other feelings in his smile other than pure love. It is amazing the work you do helping these animals - the work you and your birds do for humans like Alan? I just watched it happen, and it was tremendous. I am grateful the planet has you on it.
I could never get bored of watching what u do or learning about these birds. This was a nervous release from where I sit but no harm done as they are strong birds I can only imagine what it takes to hold an eagle who wants to go so great job as always and many more awesome releases. You make it look easy!
Wow, you got him out of the fence so quickly, but beyond gentle! They are so frightened, but they all realize you are not. Visibly relaxes part of their stress.
Thank you for helping these guys. I've been to Cedar City. I was very impressed with how nice the people are in CedarCity. I'm from California so it was refreshing to be in such a nice clean place with nice people.
Martin, you are doing good not just for the eagle but for us all. Watching videos of the Southwest Wildlife Foundation of Utah is for me an anti stress remedy. Thanks
Wow, when I have $15 bucks that mug is MINE! I am obsessed with birds of prey. I live in Massachusetts and never see them. I think they are so elegant. I am profoundly grateful for your work with them
I'm in MA. There are a lot of birds of prey here if you know where to look! As for eagles there are now quite a few Bald Eagles. One area to see them is in the Middleborough/Lakeville area.
You are awesome!! Thank you for what you do for these beautiful creatures. You make a huge donation to their survival. We are all indebted. Will send a donation when my pay pal clears.
Oh, Martin! I could watch your Eagle releases all day!! I think this was my 5th today, all of which I have seen before yet just as thrilling as the first time! Love, love, love the work you do!! I wish I was about 25 years younger, I would so love to work with you! I too have always had a passion for birds, especially the bigger birds! God Bless you!
Perfect example of how Martin doesn't have that hard of a time with eagles. But the moment he got a little excited and started to laugh the eagle got excited. That could have gone really badly but Martin knew exactly what went wrong corrected it and got control of the eagle again almost as quick.
@@GowildlifeOrg Made more so with that net technique. I have never even tried for fear of getting a response of. For your safety I can't allow that. But for the safety of all raptors maybe I should start fighting to get my safer capture technique into the community. If nothing else it would save thousands of hours probably hundreds of thousands of hours of untangling netting from raptor feet. There is so much else.
Question to Martin: Do you ever miss getting his legs? - never. Thanks Martin for your undying commitment to birds of prey!!! It is always emotional when I watch you rehabilitate and release. Thanks for letting others help with the release.
How long was the eagle in your care Martin? He didn't appear to be badly hurt compared to some of your other cases. Your pre release talks are very educational, in fact I learnt more from these videos than visiting any wildlife park.
Notice near the end of the video, as the eagle is flying upwards, it leaves (at least) one feather? I found that interesting, a good follow-up to Martin's statement about molting season.
Recently found your channel, thank you for all the good you are doing for these beautiful birds. Each release I watch brings tears to my eyes! :o) Lily

Just a little aside. I came across a Bald Eagle called Challenger named after the rocket that exploded. He was raised by humans because he was a baby that got knocked out if his nest. He was imprinted and now, fully grown. I'm sure many people have heard of him and what he can do. Stuck on a fence. Ouch. . . I like wedge-tailed eagles myself, but Goldens are their cousins. And eagles in general are awesome. Oo-rah to ashes. Amen. And spotting a jackrabbit five miles away. No human sniper has eyes that good. I can see a person on a snowy day 400 meters, two blocks, away. An eagle can do that at 2,000. Astounding. Tyrannosaurus has such eyesight. Martin doesn't really follow the cams, he's got a house and region full of critters to watch! There's an update about that eagle on the DC Eaglecam home page.
There are sites that have cameras in trees to watch the eagles make their nest to the day they fledged their young. It is a supported site that gets research money. I was very disappointed and in fact upset that one nest of eagles was raided by the researchers so they could raise the youngsters eagles since they mother had been killed by a plane at a nearby small airport. They did not give the father a chance to try to care for them, and they took all three from the nest. They said sometimes one parent can raise them, and at least one of them. They left the nest empty and the remaining parent so confused and searching for his young for days. The care they received by the researchers was not adequate preparation for their survival. One died in their refuge and they let the other two loose after raising them in a small enclosure, without any nest to return to at the end of the day, and without any hunting experience. I expected they would not survive longer than a few days. I wrote them they interfered with nature and that money from donations from people who checked in daily to watch their progress and very educational but was their motive, and that they should have left the father at least one young to raise. It however brought them large donations, and I feel their motivation to raid all three youngsters, who were doing well. They fledglings had little chance as they had no experience seeking their own food, nor in having protection from the elements and there were many eagles in the area. Chances are they ended up being a meal for a competing more experienced and secure eagles. Do you think I was judging them too harshly? I felt so bad for those poor two that were just easy prey.
It's really not something we can make a call on as we don't know the details they considered. The first year of all wild birds in the wild is really tough.
