On January 6th, 2020, Susan and Martin visited the Utah Department of Wildlife Services to drop off two Golden Eagles that did not survive. They also picked up a Golden Eagle that had been hit by a car. The eagle was originally found lying on her side on the road. The eagle was moved off the road and woke up somewhat and was picked up by the Utah department of wildlife services and Martin was called. At first glance, Martin noted the eagle had been hit in the head badly and one eye looked very bad. This eagle acted completely tame and docile because of such severe injury. Martin did not think the eagle would survive. Taking it day by day, it wasn't until six days later that Martin saw some positive signs of recovery. The eagle began standing and was able to feed herself. On February 21st the eagle was released back to the wild. This eagle was the last rescued with our old Subaru Forester and the first released with the new Forester. So sad those other two didn’t make it, but so happy for the beautiful girl who was able to recover against all odds and return to the wild where she belongs. You can’t save them all but you can save some of them, and that makes it all worth it. Bittersweet. 💔❤️
Lost my right eye 48 years ago and you're absolutely right about the difficulties with loss of depth perception, Martin. So very glad this Golden's eye was OK. They might not like you, but I don't think any of them "hate" you. Good to hear Belle voicing her opinion, too.
Poor baby 😢 ➡️PSA @ 8:05!⬅️ We are so lucky to have people like you, Martin. It's easy to love animals... But it takes a special person to actually physically go out to dedicate time & energy to actively help them! Thank You💕

i've seen a lot of releases in youre videos and every time i wonder why dont these Eagles try to bite you? It's seems they dont even bother to do it :). Keep up youre great work! Many greetings from Germany.
Their self defense mechanism is their talons, not that they won’t bite, but they will use their feet first. In this case the eagle has a head injury, it can’t fight. Hope he gets the swelling in the brain down quickly
To see her return to the wild was the most spiritual thing I have ever seen. I love what you do. Thanks for your dedication. You are very special people.
You holding that severely injured eagle. “If they act tame” - they are really bad. I will remember that image always. So glad it all worked out and she was released. Glad her eye healed. Being young must have helped. Wonderful. Thank you and your wife for taking the effort to video and edit these stories.
Avia Littlehawk In New York City we have red tail hawks. I get a lump in my throat when I see those beautiful birds soaring in the sky. I can just imagine how majestic an eagle must look

When I am angry at the world, and people in general, I come here and seeing the work they do makes me feel hopeful again. Thank you for ALL the work you do.
Thank you Martin and Susan. This was a beautiful video of you taking care of the injured eagle and releasing the eagle!!! You are guardian angels for eagles, hawks, and other injured raptors. Love, big hugs, birdie kisses, Barb and Beenie :)))
I love the way he talks to the birds (and his wife)! I’m so glad I didn’t follow a dream of getting a hawk and doing falconry as a hobby. There is way more work involved than most people can devote (like a lifetimej
Ever since I read " My Side of the Mountain" as a kid I have absolutely loved raptors. I used to want to get into falconry so bad. I would love to do what you do and help rehab and save these birds.
Loved that book! Jean Craighead George wrote 2 sequels many years after “Side”. The 2nd one acknowledges that taking baby falcons is illegal & the story continues. The 3rd book is about the falcons from the falcon’s point of view! I loved it.
It's heartwarming to see these majestic birds released back into the wild. Thank you both for being wonderful and caring so much about the welfare of wildlife.

We hope the eagle is doing well back in the wild!
Gonzalo Rodriguez Amen, Mr. Eagle!
Bless you for the caring you give these birds 🦅
Thank you Greta, we appreciate your interest
I love how he always takes the time to educate everyone to save more wildlife from cars.
Thank you Celeste, education is very important to us.
I cry EVERY time he helps an eagle and releases one....thank you for being the angel you are and helping these beauties.
Releases are a moment for sure
🦅 It’s a good day when a bird of prey gets to live freely in the wild 🦅
Agreed!

We're glad she flew off with two healthy eyes too!
Michael Bisping won a UFC Championship with only one eye! Don't let it get you down
Yeah, but you shoulda seen the other guy. OneLastHit left him with no eyes.
Glad you have the new reliable car to rescue and release wild eagles! Amazing recovery for this eagle.
We're amazed the way people donated for the new car!
Poor baby 😢 ➡️PSA @ 8:05!⬅️

It's easy to love animals... But it takes a special person to actually physically go out to dedicate time & energy to actively help them! Thank You💕
Thank you for interest and support
thank you for holding him close in his pain, a good man you are
Being handled is very stressful for the eagle he is better off alone in a quiet dark chamber.
I love how Martin always brushes the head feathers so the birds look good for their release.
You’re an angel caring for these majestic birds!
We call him Healer of Angels
I love birds and watching this just hurts my heart!
Bad day and a good day

Hi, thanks for your interest. They are always a threat. Martin discusses that more in this video: ua-cam.com/video/KedmVLq_Qtc/v-deo.html
+1 another German viewer of these great videos here :) Really appreciate the work for these great animals!
Georgina Wong did you not watch the video? Golden eagles thrive in environments like the one she was released into. They don’t like trees.
He clearly stated that when they are hurt they become docile.
Their self defense mechanism is their talons, not that they won’t bite, but they will use their feet first. In this case the eagle has a head injury, it can’t fight. Hope he gets the swelling in the brain down quickly
The birds are blessed with this gentle soul in their corner.

The severity of her injuries made this a really good release. Looks more like a mother of future eagles than a dead bird to me.
Mother would be good!
This man is surely a ‘super empath ‘ ! He found himself an occupation to satisfy that capacity !
Martin has over 50 years of experience working with the critters
