me and my uncle came across this exact same scenario back in 2005 up north Manitoba, we brought the eagle back to camp . thawed him out after 3 hrs we opened the door and off he went, the next day we were out fishing our nets, and the eagle came back and circled are camp a number of times saying thank you to us... great job guys. I remember the feeling well on saving the life of a bald eagle. cheers.

Joking aside, every action leaves a mark. We might be building paradise on Earth with each of these tiny acts of caring. Animals have various ways of transmitting experience to others.
Consider how sometimes animals that are as wild and shy as can be, avoiding humans whenever possible, may nonetheless actively seek them out when they are in big trouble.

It never ceases to amaze me, that moment when a wild animal recognizes we're attempting to make things right. That moment of recognition, when they allow our help, surrendering & accepting whatever is going to happen. The communication between human & bird is all done subliminally, using only our intentions.
We could do better ourselves, human to human, if we would only try.

I see this comment all the time. You know, Laura, people in general are good people. Of all the people you know, how many of them are actually out to ruin other people's lives or destroy the world. Not every one has the opportunity to save and document a heroic act like this, but every time you let a honey bee out of the car window instead of smashing it with your shoe, or slow your car to allow a squirrel to get across the road, you save a little piece of the world - and we all do it. If you want to see the bright side of your fellow humans, just look for the small things.

"pe.sthim" Agreed. However remember that wild animals should not be made into pets. There is a wildlife group here in NY and only when a bird or other animal is too handicapped to be released back to the wild do they bring it to a sanctuary in NJ. If the animal recovers enough, then she or he is set free to be in the wild again.

Beautiful! Thank you to the caring and compassionate men who saved him. I come from the Ojibway Tribe, Eagles are sacred to The Anishinabe people, Eagles represent so much to us, they are considered messengers, they are strength, they represent so much meaning. Not only are they protected, but as First Nation people we are not allowed to kill them for their feathers, it is considered the biggest sin against our Sacred values. If a Native person has Eagle feathers, or claws in their possession it is because the Eagle was already dead and “gifted” to the nearest tribe, we are allowed to ONLY find feathers, some people will search their entire lives and will never find one. Sit back, hope my story isn’t too long...lol...
I found mine while walking the shores of Lake Superior. My husband who passed away at the young age of 42 to ALS, lived in Texas, we resided there for 22 years until he passed. I’m originally from Ontario and live within walking distance to one of the most beautiful beaches with sand dunes as far as the eye can see. The first time he came to this beautiful place, he was so taken back by its beauty, the sounds, the birds, the waves, the smell of driftwood , the smell of CLEAN AIR...lol...and our beautiful sunset over the mountains. (As anyone who is familiar with Texas, there are very little mountains with the exception of big bend national park). During times when I had to be in Canada, I’d feel so lost, lonely and disconnected without him 😢💔, one Saturday evening a day before he had to go back home (I stayed behind with my dying sister), we spent our last day after a 2 week visit at this beautiful beach. We both stood at the waters edge, and he tells me..”my baby, when you miss me (crying) stand at the waters edge and whisper my name, and I will be with you right here” as he points to my heart. So every visit I made home, when I’d miss him, I’d stand at the waters edge. On his last visit (we did not know at the time, until a year later that he would be diagnosed with ALS) We had gone to a different beach where we both sat and had a bottle of wine...we were the only two on that beach every time we went....so peaceful and beautiful, this one particular beach was tiny, full of driftwood and mountains on each side, such a secluded peaceful place. 3 years after he passed away I was finally able to go back to that spot....I cried, oh yes I cried....on that day I walked and sat where we drank our wine (we had no wine opener, our wine came with a cork, so you can imagine how desperate we grew to open our wine...lol...we ended up finding a piece of driftwood and pushed the cork into the bottle..lol..hey, it worked..lol) as I sat near “our spot”, I got up to walk near the waters edge, but felt at that moment I was only torturing myself and felt I needed to leave this area....as I was leaving....I decided for whatever reason to turn around and walk maybe 10 feet then I stopped...I whispered his name and again I could feel that same feeling of loss....so I again immediately stopped and turned around to leave, just as I was walking away, I looked down...and there it was...the biggest most beautiful Eagle feather I have ever seen in my life...at that very moment I felt this immense feeling of relief, I felt at peace, I felt love all around me...I felt happy and calm. I still have my feather in a beautiful box. I now use it for smudging (sacred medicines, sage, tobacco, sweet grass and cedar) when I need to clear my mind or when I ask for guidance. Sorry my story was so long, but I couldn’t leave parts out...my Steve was my world...it has been 12 years, time heals.but I have my moments...I will see him again one day, I know this. In closing, I want to say cherish those close to your heart and never take your loved ones for granted. Miiway (means enough in my language..lol) and God Bless

I lived in this region for a little while will never forget a certain mid-March "thunder blizzard" which brought down thousands of trees and disconnected energy for about a week. The snow was coming down so fast that you couldn't clear one side of the windshield before the other side was covered again with a heavy layer of wet, sticky snow. The birds have to hunt and protect their nestlings in the thick of that and it seems likely that their tails would tend to attract a load of ice and snow. If the temperatures don't allow for an immediate thaw, of course the "golf ball" will turn into a "baseball" will turn into a "bowling ball." Nice rescue!!!

A grown Bald eagle well in its mid life and or later life can easily take on a wolf or dear, with caution of course. But naturally, any animal on the ground has a tendency to make a run for it when there is something that big coming from above. It's a missile, you know...
