I used to drive these in the 80's. Didn't realise they were now heritage.

Hi Barrie 👋 I really enjoyed this journey sitting up front with a driver's view of the road ahead. I get a kick out of listening to the excited voices of the young ones who are creating their own memories just as I did so many years ago. I was excited at the introduction of the Ssets and being one of the first to ride them and now I am listening to those who are excited to be one of the last to ride them. I was on the first Sset to open the ESR in the late 1970's and I couldn't believe my luck to be riding a "silver" set on the new railway. Thanks again Barrie for this wonderful journey.

Hi John, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. It's always hard to keep everyone happy with this type of video, some want true sound others don't, recording clean audio is always difficult so I'm glad you enjoyed it. Memories are what I'm about on this channel so thanks again.

Thanks for posting this one Barrie, although I had nightmare journeys on these “saunas in summer” from Parramatta to Campbelltown in the noughties (2005-2014). Four car train, two through services a day and standing room only. Makes me feel old when they’re considered “heritage” stock - that makes me heritage stock ready for the museum!
    Great channel you’ve got👍🏻

Hi Andrew, thanks for the compliment, I'm glad you're enjoying it. Yeah I can't believe they are heritage as well, stick us both in the museum.

It's really hard to believe until now that these trains are now stored as a historic train of Sydney. Not long ago, these were still an everyday sight, and I rode on these trains everyday, even when I went into uni last decade. Now they're Historic Trains, and people line up with cameras to take photos of them. I quite miss these trains, I'll say! Thanks for the upload!

Yeah it's amazing how quickly things turn around, I have similar feelings about the red sets. Thanks for watching

Sorry Barrie, only watched the first 10 minutes (I have a short attention span!) as I know the road to Campbelltown and beyond and the idle chatter in the background was starting to get on my goat. No further cab scenes, so I pushed "eject". First 10 minutes was great though, I remember when they painted some of them brown and then blue and white in the Shirley era before getting the paint stripper out and going back to stainless steel, great sets, served Sydney very well.😉

Hi Dave, thanks for watching for 10 min. These videos are a sort of a separate genre in themselves. Not my usual but still good to have recorded.
