      Nah, the BEST looking Locomotive in Australia was (and STILL IS) the WAGR/Westrail L Class Locomotive.
      The Victorian C class is just a carbon copy of the L power wise, just a different carbody design.....😁

    I so much appreciate your sharing of the knowledge and skill to operate these machines!
    Here in Canada it is very difficult to gain access like this by video because of the fear of too many people knowing and perhaps gaining unauthorized acess to a locomotive! This was always my dream! Thank you so much for such an informative video!

    Wow, I worked at Rhodes station as a JSA back in the late 1960's, and it didn't look anything like that, especially all the buildings to the west side which used to all be CSR land for a chemical plant. Awesome video, so many questions answered thanks. Would love it if state rail put a third seat in the cab and sold tickets to allow enthusiasts to tag along, money possibly to charities !!!

    A great video. A good insight into running this wheat train. Shows the skill and the knowledge the driver has to run the these heavy freight trains. Why did this train run through Sydney to Newcastle. Instead of running by Dunedoo to Newcastle.

    • @Railwayman01
      @Railwayman01 2 роки тому +3

      Most of the braking systems on newer locomotives down here are Wabtec brake control stands now, but there's a few older Locomotives here that STILL use the Westinghouse brake stands. And I think they're only allowed up to 12hrs maximum on the footplate here.
      Hope that answers your question...

    Cab ride was great, specially the driver's comments. But why run diesels in this fully electrified section?

    • @Spookieham
      @Spookieham 3 роки тому +2

      Only suburban passenger areas are electrified in Australia. Country and interstate tracks are not.

    • @legass420
      @legass420 3 роки тому

      Adding to what Graeme said, it would simply be too inefficient to constantly swap out diesel and electric locos. Sydney's electric network is only so big when compared to the size of the rural/interstate network.

    • @ourjeffie
      @ourjeffie 3 роки тому +1

      @@Spookieham That's not quite true. What about the intercity lines from Sydney to Kiama, Lithgow and Newcastle and from Brisbane to Rockhampton? And what about the numerous electrified freight-only lines from various Queensland ports to the Central Queensland coalfields?

    • @ickipoo

    As a train passenger on Sydneys northern line. Freight trains cause delays to commuter passenger services. The state government needs to further separate freight traffic from commuter passenger traffic by building an extra two sets of tracks from Strathfield to Hornsby and Strathfield to Blacktown. So many bottle necks on the Sydney trains network that can be fixed.
