I can't believe I didn't catch the similarities between Christine's and Spock's songs. The musical arraignments follow each other, and if you write down the lyrics of one, you can listen to the other and almost parallel the other one. Both songs interweave each other in a way that I didn't catch until now. Brilliant!!!

It is so cold and humiliating for Spock to break up with him and them for the entire lunge to start dancing a celebration. Nevertheless, the songs and choreography were awesome!
Watch the entire La'an arc again, if for no other reason than it's that part of the episode that states clearly that none of them had any control over when or what they'd sing.
Definitely the most significant song in terms of character arcs. Two for the price of one. Brilliant character development that puts both Spock and Chapel back into their TOS personas. Although I now hate Christene with the heat of a supernova.
I can understand where Christine is coming from, she is young and it seems to her that she has all the possibilities in the world and she does not want anything to hold her back or distract her. And she probably would have worded it differently if she had a choice but she didn't have control as soon as the song started, but of course that doesn't make it hurt any less from Spock's perspective

He was the loyal boyfriend who didn’t deserve to be dumped. Lastly, we know that Chapel will eventually get engaged to the man she meets at her internship. So while she’s singing now about how she’s willing to sacrifice a personal relationship for her career, we know her priorities will change, that someday she’ll take a step back careerwise to go looking for a fiancé who’ll later be revealed to be a monster, all while pining away for Spock.
Based on how their fates turned out, its kind of the song are the opposites destinies. Chapel joy will end very soon, while Spock suffering will turn him into the man that shaped the galaxy.

And if that weren’t bad enough, her ex-boyfriend will still be on board, she’ll be in love with him, but he’ll want nothing to do with her. In a way, she’s a tragic figure. Pike knows his fate. Chapel doesn’t. Imagine if someone told her “in 10 years, your career will be in the exact spot it’s in now and your personal life will actually be worse.”
Well... he asks a personal question in a public space. She asks to talk about it later, and then he basically insists on addressing it right there and now. So, it's not wholly free of emotional pressure.

I wonder what the dancers were thinking when their agent told them about the job they'd be auditioning for. Star Trek and musical isn't exactly something you would expect. They would have also needed some SAG extras that could dance or learn routines quickly.
By the way, Uhura really, really shines in this series! One of the best characters in the series, if not THE best! Kudos to Celia Rose Gooding for a SUPERB performance!!
I have literally been scouring the internets to find out the answer to that question, and nothing. But I've never seen them in any other episodes so I have to assume they were dancers or extras hired specifically for this. They aren't in the credits, or the IMDB page.
Christine is a party girl, a man-eater. Spock could not have found a worse bed-buddy. She wrecked his engagement, shagged him and moved on. Poor Spock.
I completely agree with your assessment of Chapel. But she did kinda warn him earlier last season. And T'Pring is not the kind of person to compromise when it comes to Spock's commitment to Starfleet. Funny that he ends up as best friends with Jim Kirk, another person not known for relationship commitment.
