Akira Yoshimura, _SNL_ production designer. That is cool. When I saw this years ago, I thought it was just a funny line because he is clearly not a cast member. Not until watching the vintage _SNL_ _Star Trek_ sketches did I recognize him. It works either way, really, though knowing who he is probably makes it funnier. That was an incredible Shatner impression. I would totally pay to see the current Star Trek crew remake an original episode with all of them doing an impression the entire time lololol

INTERESTING!! Maybe a run of Top 7 episodes, scene for scene, shot for shot, but with new sets, and better FX.

brilliant...they brought back same guy for Sulu...thats a HUGE nerd/snl callback.
also...this sketch was worth it entirely for the pizza beach number.

Ok, I see your Star Trek/SNL comment on the old Asian man playing Sulu is a year old, but I’ll explain. That guy has been a set designer for SNL for decades. He played Sulu in an SNL skit in 1975, and again in 1986 featuring Shatner. Guess thats why he’s there again.

You should see the skirt she wore in the first season...here's an example here: i716.photobucket.com/albums/ww169/cytherians/StarTrek/TOS/humor/Uhura_young-and-restless.jpg but other angles left even less to the imagination...by the 3rd season they made her skirt much longer, which was unfortunate!!! lol Even to this day, I'm surprised at how they put that much skin on a network show over 50 years ago...it was such a different world then.
