I bet the average SAT score on this quad line was like 1575. Shit is SMART.
man the UNT drumline is so good
Lmaooooo

Milo Johnson All but like 4 of these dudes go to University of North Texas and study under Paul. This entire snare line went to UNT and had sectionals every week through the spring leading up to the 2016 summer.
This Line Out Played and Out Classed Every Other Line in DCI This Year!!
Complexity, Execution, Control and Balance, This Line Had it ALL!!
CONGRATULATIONS VANGUARD DRUMLINE, Y'ALL FREAKIN' ROCKED!!!!
Uh yeah, that's why they won drums
Yeah dude! SCV is known for their drum line! They are usually 1st place in drums Paul Rennick knows what he's doing!
they do it every year their line is amazing... thanks to rennick
Awwww....Scottie busted ya.
sneaky scott strikes again
Almost forgot to watch this today
Did you watch today
@@noahcole6622 1st thing this morning
How about today?
@@mikel7505 thank you
Did u watch it today?
Do you think they could beat Nick Cannons drumline? I don't think so.
YES, DEFINITELY
Mad Minute Reality vs Hollywood bro.
basically
drumcorps0junkie Reality vs a joke, bro ;)
thank god
If anyone asks what clean beats sound like, show them this.
The guy on the bench's face at 02:53 through the tenor phrase is the perfect image of what seeing DCI live is like. Whether it's your first or your 100th time seeing a lot/show/whatever, the amazement at what these musicians can do is always overwhelming.
That seven vet snare line and five vet quad line tho, no wonder Rennick when hard on the writing and it was still so clean
Nice to see the amount of footage this ungodly tenor line gets.
They were ALL vets
Snares killed it this year too tho let's be honest
@@johnathankozloff212 Their whole percussion section was incredible. This tenor section, however, was on a completely different level at the time.

I've followed and been in Drum Corps for a long time, since 76', and you won't find a cleaner line than this. They are tight, precise, and the definition is otherworldly. You'd be exceedingly hard pressed to find a better group. Rennick is a master at getting the most and above out of his players.
2:53 to 3:22 Is the Alpha and the Omega to playing tenors. They should have had a drop the mic visual after that. Pure magic!
Holy S*#T! In a word, "PERFECT"! I am absolutely stunned how clean this battery is. No "Ticks", Stick heights are perfect, Dynamics and application are perfect. Rob Carson would be proud!
Wonder he wouls think if we had him time travel, bet the tenor arounds and bass splits would be pretty wild
Santa Clara Vanguard is my favorite line of the year. I thought all of the lines were beyond excellent, but I like the writing and style of SCV and Rennick.
now why isnt this video included in any most satisfying video compilations?
1:46 is probably the sickest quad lick i've ever heard and they play it so smoothly... without any rim
IT'S SO CLEAN
Burkinator OF COURSE IT IS, ITS SANTA CLARA THEY ARE NEVER NOT CLEAN😂
3:21 The dude on the bench, his face says it all.
DatGuyWithNoName lol pretty much my internal reaction everytime i watch this video.
he is barely moving for half a minute :D
Hilarious x-D
4:17 I was transcribing this and I noticed that the snare second from the right on the decrescendoing triplets plays L R R R R L R, where everyone else plays L R R R L R L. Same thing at 6:12
damn good eye!
Isn’t that Bryce gardner
6:38 those attacks make smile! That is the definition of clean
I see you wet money.
Great writing
Best tenors ever!!!!
Put on Headphones and Blast this. Thank me later.
Well deserved 1st
1:48 is a Tenor ditty @ it’s BEST!!! Nobody can’t touch Paul’s writing bro!
Flawless😍😍😍!!!
4:14 4:18 is the definition of Paul's writing
honestly yeah lmao
Intense! And the tuning was sick! I've always been a Pearl guy, but the balance and sound out those Dynasties is just remarkable. So cool to hear snare response across the full dynamic range and a bit of "GAWK" to rimshots. Great to see SCV win top drums.
drum head
tenors, excellent!! snares great very clean, would like hear more from the bassline.
put in your headphones
I just can't get over how good this is
This book thoooo
One of the best drumlines ever. Hands down
Agreed!
That one dude on the bench in the back completely amazed and in aw in the background because these guys are amazing
Perfect tenor moment, literally exactly in sync at 3:49
0:50 is so clean! Nice job Vanguard!
If you compare this to the start of the season, there's a massive improvement. Snares butchered that part at the beginning of the season.
This is some crazy synchronization. If you close your eyes you might think there are only 1 or 2 tenors
I've seen all the great quadlines for more than 2 decades, and this one is holds up to any of them. They can make a great argument for best ever.
This may be the best example of Dynamics at work I have ever seen and I appreciate it so much, great work SCV!
I love how the second quad player to the left jumps😂 1:18
Did the bassline really dab. Please tell me they didn't dab.
I believe they did😂😂, at 3:33 to 3:35😂
bass dabs :)
I watched them after I read ur comment and they did and I went NO!!!! lmao. dabbing needs to go out of style already
Yes, dabbing should stop. But if your the best drumline in the world they can do any visual they want😂
I like the dab, but I like at the end of crowns show when they just flop their sticks on the drums like their D's.
Holy hell! Very very nice battery! Half in love! haha.
People are comparing this to BD, but that's really hard to do! Yeah SCV book is 10x harder but the Blue Devils have a completely different style and feel than these guys. Different goals
Vanguard drumline has the best dynamic control in all of dci
4:42 is so satisfying. The tenors are so clean on the spock!
Literally my favorite part of their book lol
The guy who taught me how to play quads in highschool is center on their tenor line. He’s always been incredibly locked ever since highschool. He just understood it from a young age I could tell and now watching him do this even years later is crazy. Miss all my outdoor diddle band peeps
I'm astonished that I don't hear one ounce of rim from the quad section and they're very clean!! AMAZING
Did the bass line really just DAB at 3:33??? Pathetic
Those guys deserve to win!
I didn’t read the title and thought this was Phantom Regiment I was like holy shit I don’t remember them being this clean then looked at the title and was like ohhh it’s SCV makes sense 😂
1:00 - 1:20 As Charlie Poole once said, “Jesus Christ Quads!!”
The only line that can compete with Rennick’s 2010 Phantom line 😂
Yeah I'd have to agree, though 2014 is up there for me
Is that Ralph Hardimon sitting on the park bench observing?
that rim shot at 0:23 and the dude's whoop right after gets me every time
Ahhhhh when it was drumming and not interpretive dance with tons of loud “dut”s!
that guy on the benches reactions say it all
the guy on the bench in the perpetual state of shock is me when I watch this
Bass line ftw.
SmashingSnow
🎶😎Too cool 4 school😎🎶
So from what I hear, this is the only Drumline better than the Bluecoats is that right?
Turhan Henderson yup then crown in my opinion
Matthew What about Blue Devils?
I mean, SCV won drums...
But Vanguard won this year
SCV = Santa Clara Vangaurd, my dude
Consideration for best drumline of all time?
I'll put 2014 over this--front ensemble counts too.
Brian Haag yeah I can see your point. I think judging by just the battery though, I would say this HAS to be up there for cleanest/highest demand.
Definitely a huge line. Though I really think the snares and basses are "average" for SCV--it's the tenors that are truly nuts.
And the book is just sick.
As much as I love this line, I would put 2004 SCV over this one. That line was unreal. Makes me miss the Casella/Gusseck combo
This respect goes to SCV and the writing of PR.....The interplay between the snares and tenors ,as well the bass line is second to NONE
DYNAMICS IS INCREDIBLE.
THE NOTE OF " SILENCE: IS JUST LIKE THE CLEAN ASS BEATS😎.
Sheldon Allen
Fred(rip)Sanford, Rob Carson, Ralph Hardimon, Jim and Murray loved hearing their boys chopping these clean beats.
Sheldon Allen
No cowbells were hurt during the making of this video.
Ralph and I are friends, we go way back to 85. I was in Scouts for 5 years and got to know him. We still talk!
so if rennick is the caption head, who’s the tenor tech?
Matt Penland I believe
@@subbot8077 ahh thank you my good man
"He wasn't usin' puffies!"
0:10 lone snare playing simple eighth note pattern arguably sounds just as good as every other part of this book, this is why scv slaps, it always feels like every part deserves to be a feature but every part just takes a backseat to the collective musical experience.
Cool
This is absolutely ELECTRIC
No one tunes better than paul rennick
if i heard it right, someone shouts "deal with it, puppies!" at the beg. of the initial snare feature, lol, and if so, that someone is my new hero.
LETS GOOOOOOOOO QUADS
I like how you can't see the bass anymore they are always hiding behind snares. Nice and clean though folks I like that.
1st
whats up with these spam comments lmao
I didn't know it was possible but somehow Rennick makes sicker and beefier book every year.
Damn
They're Machines man!
Still watch this every day 🤝🏼
