"HE WAS NUMBER ONE" lol that jam block solo always got so much hype
lol he was number one from spongebob... probably inside joke.
Hazel Strong shut up
@@adamz0037 You got issues brother?
P L yes
With respect to the bass drums, specifically the upper two: I believe the term is "playing through the drum". I think this is the first line that I've heard truly hit splits with equal confidence as the rest of the book. Sweet.
Whoever write the bluecoats and crown's drumline music is a genius. You can always hear parts from the hornline in the drum part and I love that
A few things I noticed while watching this: 1. This book fucking slaps and would sound amazing with a drum set as a met, 2 the quads are way underrated especially in this lot, and 3. The basses are gods. Best baseline I’ve ever heard
Gotta love the split at 4:34, immaculate timing.
Bass 1 & 2 splits are just money, so incredibly clean
Snares split 8s, crowd goes wild. Tenors destroy a solo, two people golf-clap.
+Colin and it's not difficult to destroy a crazy quad solo?
i dont know if it was just me, but i thought the quad solo was a teenie weenie bit off tempo
Tenors are generally easier to have clean than snares (especially when there are 9 snares) which is usually why after a clean snare solo or feature people get really excited. BlueQ is definitely great though and get plenty of love.
@kyle I would disagree that tenors are "easier" to clean. Yes snare line has more people but tenors have more drums if you want to go that route. Back to the original post though, I was referring to the parts where the tenors should have gotten more love on their wicked solo versus split eights between 9 players. But anywho, people will like what they want I guess.
dmr3e I was saying that because of the articulation of the drums, snares are harder to clean. Anyone can see that. Also the snares split 16ths, not 8s.
Can we all just apreciate the fact that the 2nd snare from the left is 15 years old? Respect little dude.
i go to school with him. He's amazing :)
1DMapler18 I've gotta take a guess that you're snare line is pretty solid. That guy gets tons of props for managing to do this at 15.
matt funkhouser yeah our snare line is pretty great :) He's a beast.
I wouldn't say "little" cause he's like 6'3 hahaha
Yayayee! Arjun!
1:50 HE WAS NUMBER ONE!
Sebass The glance the wood block guy gave him though.
kittenassassin you can see how hard he's trying not to laugh
+Sebass XD He's trying to hold it together hahahahaha
+Sebass OH MY GOD. In band this year I was in front of the bass's and they would always chant "He was number one." to the beat during rehearsal and I now know why.
+Mana Heartfilia Hey likes what?
Is it just me or are the bluecoat basses really, really, really good?
No. They're REALLY REALLY good
Sean Bowers no. They are REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY GOOD.
Here I am 5 years later to tell you they are great as hell👌🏽
@@zimdinkley Really?
@@sasquatchlil4173 REALLY!
Would hate to have to give the top 3 drumlines scores. They're all on fire
Coats are the best & have the best fans ever! Period!
Don't count SCV out.
***** hey dont be disrespectin Bret's writing, that guy's a genius
Am I the only one that thinks the Bluecoats tuning is by far the best tuning in drum corps 😅😍
Sebastian_ Morando *corps
Nah, SCV or Troopers.
Mikethedude22 ur welcome
I love how they're always in the same lot at finals!
So much energy in that closing statement.
"Dante's here" they predicted crown 2015
Ian Fowler I don't get it help
Crown's 2015 show was called Inferno. So, Dante's Inferno.
OrnateRope who’s dante
@@ornaterope8319 the guy's name is Dante 4head
more precisely donte
It's so smooth and effortless.
That bass line gave me chills.
@ 5:30: "Next year... will be my year."
Everytime I come back to this video I swear to god the bass runs get even better 👌 honestly god damnnnn
Sticks in at 5:57 was so CRISPY!!!!👌🙌
GOD watching this almost brings me to tears. I miss this shit so much 😭
Dante's here .... commence head bopping... and totally jamming....
3:09
Who's Dante? No clue, still bopping.
so many of these guys are 2015 ageouts and it makes me sad
Well Rue marched 2015👌🏾, as did Mando, who also marched 16 and 17. Charlie marched 17 and now 18 along with Alex(I think, don't quote me on that). So I guess the spirit of Rue still lives on🤘🏾😂
8:25 chief on the end overplaying those shots by about 2 feet. Got that bluecoats slice too.
Best writing in DCI. So tasteful.
This closer is so much fun to listen to.
Arjun goes to my rival high school... We always lose to them dang it
well i mean no shit you lose to them then lol
Lol, i go to school with him. Where do you go to?
dnhs. freshman on quads. I know, freshman make you upper classmen sick. what are you and what do you play?
Ooh that sounds nice. I'm a sophomore tuba player
its nice to know that non-drummers are into drum corps =)
Watch this a few years later and realize that there are 3 future blue devils on this snare line
Still watching this in 2021
3 years today since this was posted !!
This is beautiful.
i like the bottom bass part at 3:45
Ian Fowler lmao
I can't be the only one who noticed the sick ass stick trick the black dude on quads did, instant respect
idc, 2:03 is probably one of the cleanest quad parts ive ever heard.
You know, whenever somebody shows me that stupid Top Secret drum line video, labelled the "Best Drumline Ever," I just nod and then show them this, the Blue Devils, the Cadets, and half a dozen others. Oh, they say, now I understand what you're talking about. Top Secret < Decent high school drum line.
2:44 bass 2 is just rotating
1:50 It was his hat Mr. Krabs!
+jake andersen He likes dogs! (?)
1:51 HE WAS NUMBER ONE
Wow, nice job kids. Now that's drummin' the way it should. (from an #OldAssMadScoutBass)
It's 2015, why haven't we invented a way to keep the tenor rubbers from falling off? Get on it, Yamaha science!
HE WAS NUMBER ONE!!
Why don't the tenors get any love?
Because it was a very crowded lot, and I had trouble getting good angles of the tenors and basses without people being in the way. Believe me, I wish I got more of them!
DrumCorpsTube And the cymbals?
DarkDoors1998 Lol
Bluecoats have the best tenor line
+DarkDoors1998 There are no cymbals in the Bluecoats
to think... no one from this line is still marching bloo
😭
That must be why nobody this year looks familiar. I was wondering about that.
A veteran line. One of the iconic lines, in the same vein as BD 2012.
One of the snares from this line is 15 so he might come back
Music Men no the one your talking about went to Devils
I love Roger Carter's ideas
good god they are amazing! my heart is beating and i'm sweating, that bass line is silly
That tenor lick at 7:42 is comparable to sex
If you listen very closely at around 7:15 or 7:20 you can hear Carolina crown dropping the hammer 😂
that’s bloo’s hornline warming up
remember when bluecoats warmed up and only used a met or a click for the first few bars and didnt need it after that?.... pepperidge farm remembers...
They appear to be placing higher in percussion
And now they have drumset.
Can anyone tell me about the different sticks used by the snare line? (brand, model, etc.) Also, that was some amazing drumming by the whole section. My high school drumline instructor, Neal Flum, marched snare with Spirit of Atlanta in '82 and marched tenor with the Blue Devils in '83. He talked me into auditioning for Spirit in the spring of '89 when I was 15. I auditioned just for the heck of it and whoever it was that auditioned me said I could probably march in the tenor section but I wussed out. Looking back I wish I had taken it more seriously.
***** Do you know the different sizes of the sticks?
***** Okay. Cool. Man, I've been out of the marching game way too long I guess because I've never heard of either one of those sticks. I only marched in high school but I was an instructor for my high school drumline and other high school drumlines for about 3 years after graduating high school in 1991. Back then, you might have 8 snares using 5 different types of sticks. I used the Dennis Delucia sticks before he had his Vic Firth signature stick. Some guys used Pro Mark DC-3's I think. It wasn't long after I graduated that my instructor made everyone switch to the same stick. Thanks for the info.
Okay. When they started playing with the smaller sticks I noticed a difference in sound and in the look of the stick. So you're in high school? Have you ever auditioned for All-State Band? The material that's used for the audition can be challenging but that's what makes it fun. There's usually a snare solo or two, plus a few handpicked rudiments and of course you're supposed to play each rudiment in the style of open-closed-open, or slow-fast-slow, making the transitions as smooth as possible. If you've never auditioned, you should look into it. If you do well enough you get to miss a few days of school as you prepare for a concert with lots of the best high school musicians in your state. I auditioned all 4 years but I didn't make it my freshman year. Let me know how it goes, if it goes.
The black sticks are called blast sticks if i'm correct. They're essentially brushes for a marching snare.
TheBionicWaffle Dreadlocks are the Vic Firth version and the ones Bloo uses are IP.
0:51 snare two to the right of the center snare. The way he moved his neck bothers me😂
Arjun's still 15
Someone please tell me what their vocals are! lol I can bearly hear them
The opener was the best part
1:44 That bass lick though...
TASTY.
3:09 we found him
3 of these snares went on to win 2 DCI championships! Imagine being a 2nd place feeder corps!
the full performance was just taken down. Dang
That bass feature at 3:46 though...
Anyone know what those quieter sticks they are using at 5:42 are? I know the main ones are IP-JCs
2:24 did that to 2:29 remind anyone else of ritual from 2012?????
My favorite is when Arjun went to BD and got amazing hair.
Who is the snare with the gock block
Ollie Delotto. He was my tech for a year!
I didn't know Yamaha made a CarbonPly equivalent. What are they called? I want a set of those tenors.

MQ-8300 Field-Corps™ Series
Hey Jason S!
Can anyone answer this for me? What was the reasoning behind the quarter note gok block?
I think you're onto something with that comment
whos the snare all the way to the left?
Rhythmic gymnastics. Can anyone tell me what piece they are playing or doesn't it matter?
Very random, but that grass looks like it would be very nice to sit on
1:56 "He likes dogs!'
*gocks. As in the thing he's playing.
tennispro246 no it's dogs
YEAH MIKE!!!!!!!!
When is that pit video coming up??
"HE WAS NUMBER ONE"
What's the thing on the rim that they switch on and off through the runs? Does it have anything to do with the snare guts being turned on and off?
Matthew J Reynolds youre right that’s exactly what they’re doing
NPC 1984 oof my mistake, I’m not too familiar with Yamaha drums lol
Are they using concert sticks...? Are my eyes deceiving me?
3:11 Dante
6:17 yeeee ho 😂
Did the lead snare perform with Pulse Percussion this year too?
yes
Does anyone know stick tricks for tenors, like there is hi mom and spida for snare but what about tenors.
Quads don't have to do stick tricks to be visually interesting because of horizontal movement of the sticks and such.
that bass line at 0:55 mmm
The bassline is so on point it's not even funny, it's scary
Ryan ellis and arjun?
Has anyone transcribed the closer yet?
All of the tenor music for Tilt is on snarescience, not sure about the snares. It might be, doesn't hurt to check, the list changes all the time so someone probably has made it
I had a dream last night that blue devils got 2nd this year (2014) and coats took first with a score of 100. hands down best dream ever, too bad I woke up :/
Is there warm up exercises too??
Theres a 15 year old on this snareline.
***** isnt it crazy? and he doesnt even get as much credit as brandon. Arjun marched BDB 2013 when he was 14 years old, and Brandon marched academy at 15 and BD at 16
+sumbooodeeee ok I know I'm late, but which one is Arjun?
really dark tall dude on snare
+bajlim thanks man
wait you mean the one that marches with BD now?????
This is insane..
what place did they get in drums this year? i know the corps got the silver
They were 3rd in percussion
Connor Buckley Who got first?? Sorry I'm fairly new to watching competitions
Jack Heet SCV
DOPE
Sticks in. #Fundamentals
1:57 same @ dude in the back
Who's the 15 year old dude?
2nd from left in opener and 2nd from right in the feature and closer
Ah okay thanks! That's pretty awesome to see younger people in these groups when he ages out he's gonna be ice cold!
No problem
Oscar Rodriguez his name is Arjun Durbhakula hes really good
Does anyone find it weird that the winds were in time with these guys. Does this happen often?
As amazing as it is, I've never felt the urge to cheer and "whoop it up" at corps stuff or any drumline thing spare an occasional hype cadence. But I seem to be one of the few among my friends who share that view. Is that weird? I have just always seen it as inappropriate. Maybe its just because of my concert background, as its kind of out of line to cat-call a marimba player who just played a thick run. Guess its just me...
6:44 whats the vocal?
+DaXXPuniSHeR Joe, Joe, Joe, Joe, JOE WOODIE!!!!! (or however you spell it.)
What sticks are snares using?
Casella's
What's the center snares name?
Asuna yuuki Richard Ramos
What heads are the tenors using?
Ian Marshall evan
