I think you missed the part where the Mandalorian was trying to be stealthy. He only got into a shootout because the IG unit wandered in, guns blazing. If he just lands his ship 50ft away from the place, they'll be ready for him, and he won't be able to complete his mission.
On top of that, he didn't know what type of weaponry they had, and landing too closely could get him shot down. This caution is shown to be valid, because they have a hovering blaster minigun.
Exactly, alex doesn't really have valid points for his misguided critique, they even said the land around then was only suitable for that creature

Even if that weren’t the case, who cares? There could be any number of reasons why he couldn’t land right next to the settlement. All that really matters is that he couldn’t. These nitpicky folks who need absolutely everything explained to them are the reason that 2 entire movies were made to explain a small detail that didn’t require explanation
They even hint at a good reason when the Mandalorian says "So much for the element of surprise" and he did the same thing at the start of the show when he parked his ship so far away on that ice. Actually it would be pretty hilarious if he keeps choosing the worst parking spots ever for the element of surprise >.
I mean Mando was literally upset that he lost the element of surprise when the droid went in, so it makes sense he wouldn't park his ship close enough that they could see... guys come on.

I'm not gonna say I think all of his criticism was invalid because some of it was valid but you're too dumb to understand what he said when he made that comment

Just so you know, Sand has a higher melting point than steel and iron.
So, it makes sense they hid behind a sandstone wall but melted the door with that heavy blaster.
Sand also has the benefit of not creating shrapnel (or in this case slag). One of the reasons why the military still uses sand bags for cover.
Good to know.
Sand is also coarse, rough, irritating and gets everywhere. Lots of advantages there.

The prequels came out and there was a split between the Teens and Kids who liked it and the Gen X adults who thought Lucas was a fat piece of shit.

He landed far away because he only knew the last known coordinates, the general direction and not the exact location. Showing his concern for money we know he has limited funds so not using his ship for scouting would save money on fuel and also prevent them from spotting him and maintaining an element of surprise. Nick's character was there to help him reach the final destination sooner than later. and given how his character said the terrain is rough and only riding will get there, we could assume there are not many good landing spots.
*edit* So the whole riding the monster bit may have been forced as an additional throwback to the holiday special (a 40 year old cartoon)
where boba fett is riding a dinosaur-like creature (I think its the creature that nick's character said his ancestors use to ride)
The do you want to go in warm or cold wasn't a reference to carbonite, it was just a typical western dead or alive line (as in a cold corpse)
The Droid had a different contract (Maybe from a different contractor). He had a kill on sight contract and the Mandalorian had a capture contract.

It was the first time since Rogue One, that i've found a Disney SW content, enjoyable, fun and cool.
Rogue one was ok, and star wars 7 was a safe and also ok start to the trilogy but the other movies just sucked, this could have been something special and something people in the future who grew up now could love and show to their kids

It's probably like Assassins Creed; he goes out, performs some great feat, then receives an upgrade.
Mandalorian's are very traditional so this charecter gets better gear as he proves himself to his clan
I mean, as much as I like this show that does seem a little perfectly set up for a video game....
it does seem like they put some of these things in the series to make an awesome singleplayer game for this

When he said I can take you hot or cold. That equals Dead or alive. Had nothing to do with Carbonite. That was a ridiculous criticism of the show just because you misunderstood the scene.
Well, that does not surprise me. He is the guy that loved GOT season 7. It was as bad storytelling, just played it safe to keep brain dead audience as Joe.

20:44 Pascal's character doesn't know where his bounty is at, he just knows what section of the planet its on. Nick Nolte's character knows the exact location of his bounty.
I love the scene where the old wise man is teaching him. It’s a moment of the Mandalorian being susceptible and not this pure bad ass. The old man says “you are mandalorian” as he has high expectations for these people. The scene where he had to tame the animal was brilliant. Showed lots of emotion and made the mandalorian question his capabilities.
I've no idea how Alex missed the fact that the Mandalorian can barely afford fuel for his ship. Of course he's not gonna fly it all over a planet's surface... it doesn't make sense to waste money.
And he got his deposit for the job if Mandalorian Iron, as well as paid to have it forged.... so yeah. But still, you'd think in the grand scheme of starship travel, going a few extra miles is absolutely a piss in a bucket.
nurdygurl The ship flies light years across space, that’s what he was referring to with fuel. I don’t think a mile or so on a planet will affect fuel to the point he skimps out on it.
@@OneTwoMark from a real world scientific stand point. It takes a tiny amount of fuel to propel things in space compared to propelling things in an atmosphere.
Yeah, we saw the Mandalorian take the time to scout out his surroundings several times. Even if he knew exactly where his bounty was (which he didn't) flying directly over your target in a big ass ship kinda eliminates the element of surprise.

They got a lot wrong in the video. Like the reason he parked far away from the targets was because he didnt know where they were, only their last known location. He has to track them on land. This was a huge part of their video and it was wrong lol.

After its success, they changed their mind and also effected Solo. I can tell the same will happen on D+. Mandalorian will succeed, maybe Obi-Wan, but then Disney will pollute the future shows with their SJW agenda.

Joe just gets this episode, You have the guy explore his ship and asks all the questions soooo the audience can learn about the character with it being to in your face. We learned he doesn't take off his mask, he has a lot of bounties, and a little about the layout of his ship. I think other joe and alex just wants to watch the beginning and end of movies and don't care about the journey. This was a 10/10 for me episode. Oh, also, he doesn't like droids because of the clone wars, they killed a lot of his kind.
This absolutely. If you noticed no droids in the mandoa enclave when he entered. Makes perfect sense
It's great..but didn't feel as "gritty" as i wanted. It felt like a live-action cartoon the way it was directed..which makes sense as the director had only directed cartoons before (like the rebel wars / clone wars disney cartoon series). I hope it gets more gritty in later episodes with other directors.

I think both are the reasons why he didn't. Even if he knew the exact location he probably wouldn't, as is evident by the element of surprise line. Regardless of his skill it's probably not great bounty hunting practice to land your big ship next to all of your quarries' houses.

Why would he kill him when everything the fish guy is doing from the way he is speaking and the way he is moving just screams, "I give up, " (but also says he may run if he has a chance). THe Mandalorian needs that money for his clan. He makes an empty threat like he's gonna kill him but he's really gonna carbonite him if he was gonna be a problem. Honestly, I think he was going to do that either way.
This is the most I've enjoyed Star Wars since Rogue One.
Rogue one is my favorite Star Wars movie I need more war in my Star Wars I want to see troops on the ground regular rebels versus empire i fucking love that shit
Rogue one and TFA were my favorites of the Disney Star Wars era. Solo is pretty good, but it needed clearer visuals and a more compelling story. TLJ was worse than the prequels.

Alex nailed it when he said he dosent jump any anything star wars anymore. But this show is amazing. I hope this carries over into future films. Also seeing John Favreau's and Taika Waititi's names attached made me happy.

Listen i’m not a fan of Disney’s work so far with Star Wars but stop being pessimistic. Episode 1 was great, the directors and people attached to this are great. Give it a chance and stop painting everything in a negative light. No ones sucking Disney, we just want Star Wars to succeed and so far with the Mandalorian I have high hopes.

Looking at it now, it isnt that exact il symbol but it seems pretty close. It does seem to have the same letters though, il main difference is the underline and less sloppy letters. Maybe there is something in common.
I would love to see a Thrawn series made, be able to see more of the in workings of the Empire
Alex, regarding the "bathtube" moment, actually promotes good character development for the Mandalorian because it shows that he really was just giving his captor a chance to use it, showing his humanity, but also that he's still no-nonsense when people cross him.

Pros: It was a great first episode.

Should be an hour ep not a 30 min ep like how Stranger Things is or GOT.

As long as the keep the helmet on him. Disney has a knack for removing helmets and masks off of characters in their movies as if they are not the same person with the mask on 24/7
The razor crest is a mandalorian ship, so they would know he’s one
The bounty was issued from two different parties. One was under the table, one through the guild. Whoever wanted to target dead is at odds with the imperial’s objective. However, my theory is that there are in fact three parties involved; two that want the baby alive, one that would have it killed to deny the two parties who want it alive. The imperials would take the baby alive but also have it killed to deny the other interested party.
The thing that impressed me the most is the attention to detail and quality of the sets, direction of photography and effects (which were damn seamless - that ship looked real). This first episode of the show looked like a feature film. I'm going to go so far as to say it looked better than the new Disney films by quite a bit.
There was a bit of wonky stuff such as the weird mustache guy "I have spoken". His lip sync in that mask was bad. But overall this show is awesome.
I think that was a animatronic. It moved like a robot so I dunno. I cannot find info on it anywhere, but the movement looked off for a human and the textures looked way too real to be CGI

Ships aren't cheap, nor is all the BH gear on it.
We have to assume their scanners can see most ships approaching the planet.
You see an uninvited ship coming your way, approaching your remote hideout, you can run, or set up air defense.
But...
If you see some random ship, landing at a town, you are hard pressed to tell if it's anything but regular civilian traffic.
Working as a pair or squad, sure, you might risk hotzone insertions as your pilot can back off to safe distance. But you still alert your quarry to your intent.
Also if the specific target isnt there, you have played your hand.
Either his buddies tell him, or their corpses do.

A better option, if Mandalorian is basically the main reason for someone thinking about buying a subscription, is to wait until the first season is done and then buy Disney+. Binge watch it, there will obviously be way more content by that time, and you don't have to keep it for more than a month. Also, they might be giving out free trials at some point, so you can possibly watch all you want for free.
Honestly feel like most people aren’t realized that he didn’t land the ship by the bounty because he didn’t know where the bounty was. He landed where the last known location was and just happened to be by nicks character, so the mandolorian had no choice but to do what he asked to find the target.
At least that was my understanding of it.

Episode one was a 10 imo. The whole way through I was excited, the entire time I couldn't help but feel that this was far far the best thing made under the Disney Star Wars brand. Even if the rest of the series is terrible this episode is worth the watch, to remind people what Star Wars can do.

From the beginning of the show, up until his meeting with Nick's character, the Mandalorian was essentially an unspoken, cold, bounty hunter. The scene with Nick allows the writers to present a "human" side to the main character. It was a very important scene.
But he spoke a little before that. "I can bring you in warm, or I can bring you in cold". But yeah, I agree with everything else you said.
Was reluctant to watch this, but the hype from youtube finally got to me.
First episode: Initial act (up until planet): solid intro. Clear character development (gruff, direct, professional, observant). Second act (the guild section and pauldron): Total world building. Also again, clear character development (orphan, honorable, mandalorian in spirit). Best part was the introduction to the lore of the mandalorians. Third act (second bounty recovery): Full of charm and humor. Personality is actually closer to han solo than geralt. And then the reveal... This is charming as hell.
Perhaps the best thing is that it feels much closer to SWTOR than movie starwars.
