- Today we unbox a Blu-Ray player with 4K upscaling from Sony. This player has the capacity to upscale 1080p Blu-Ray discs up to nearly 4k, plus it has streaming features, if that sort of thing matters to you.

Thank you, that was an actually helpful video!
Excellent..Now I will definitely buy one.👍 Thank you 😊
I just got this model. It took me a while to get it to connect the wireless.to my network. I found that I needed to push the button on the back of my router while the dvd player was searching. That info was not in the start up guide.
I've this bluray mine stop working with my wireless network, it does work with my ethernet cable, I mostly use to play my DVDs and Blu-rays collections
I have it works great love this bluray player
You can navigate in Internet with a app like a Smart Samsung with this Bluray? what region its?
It's not a 4k blu ray player. It's a bluray player with 4k upscaling.
I bought 1. Had to buy 4k dvd. Doesn`t play.. Total bull .
Exactly. People confuse with the definitions.
4k Blu-ray players are prized from 300 and up....
I purchased this item at Wal Mart for $89.99 and hooked it up to my new 4K UHD 55" Sony Bravia TV. Maybe it was the cable or maybe I had not properly calibrated the settings but there was an annoying flickering when the scenes changed from light to dark. The image quality wasn't much better than my standard Blu-Ray player so I returned it. I then discovered that for only $10.00 more I could buy a Sanyo 4K Blu-Ray player that was HDR compatible. It has no smart features. But then I didn't need them because my TV already has them. I bought it and was amazed at how much better the picture quality was. It upscales everything. Low quality and old standard definition DVDs look better but still don't look as good as 1080P Blu-Ray DVDs. But 1080P Blu-Ray DVDs look awesome. I've been told I need to play a 4K DVD to really take advantage of the TV's HDR. But they're expensive. I can buy 1080P Blu-Ray DVDs at Pawn America for $3.00. So if your TV already has smart features and you don't need them on your Blu-Ray player, instead of buying a 4K upscaling Blu-Ray player, you could pay a few dollars more and buy a true 4K Blu-Ray player without smart features. Even if you don't have any 4K DVD's to play on it yet, you may find as I did that it upscales other content better than the 4K upscaling unit advertised in this video....
Interesting, I didn’t know this. I have a Sony Blu-ray Disc DVD Player model BDP-S6700. Do you or anyone know if it’s a 4K Blu-ray player or a Blu-ray player with upscaling? I have looked at the user manual but can’t see what type this is.
@@Bob-Horse it is not uhd 4k. It is an upscaler. I have the same player you bought
Never showed how to link remote to the tv that’s what I wanted
thanks for the video, does it need to connect to network in order to upscale or it works without network?
It works without a network. I never plugged it in to the internet beyond updating the firmware and it works fine. Most 4K TVs nowadays upscale 1080p sources so this player is technically just a normal 1080p player with the 4K tagline to entice and deceive buyers
Dose it play 4k ultra hd blu rays
will dolby atmos work on it?
Can I plug in audio on Samsung Soundbar?
I bought this player specifically for playing The Beatles Get Back Blu-ray. My Sony 65” 4K UHD TV uses 2 Apple HomePod speakers for using my Apple TV into the Television.
Since the Blu-ray player is wireless, I believed I could hookup, somehow, the same Wi-Fi HomePod speakers for this player so I could hear the audio through nice speakers.
For the life of me, I can’t figure out how to do it, so I’m thinking you can’t use Bluetooth or Wi-Fi speakers with this player.
If anyone knows how I can use the HomePod’s with it, or anything else for better than TV Speaker sound please let me know. Thanks!
Its not a 4K blu-Ray player! It just up scales... Samsung ubd-k8500 & Panasonic's DMR-UBZ1 are the only true UltraHD '4K' Blu-ray player. Now there could be more coming soon but as of CES 2016 thats the only 2 that I'm aware of, and sony told me they have no plain of yet for a player for the new 4k blu-ray disks.
+GoFastJames Guess you're right. It doesn't matter to me since I only have 1080p discs and it will take a while for 4K Blu-Rays to become mainstream. Until then, this blu-ray does a great job in upscaling my movie collection. It works great.
Can it play games like why would it have playstation now for?
Why didn't you play a dvd?! How can you review this if you don't try it out?
How do you play 3D blu rays on a 4K T.V ? I don’t think there is a 4K 3D T.V currently.
Nor will there ever be. Most companies abandoned the whole 3D fad a while ago. This player though is a bit misleading since it’s a 1080p blu ray player that upscales to 4K but can’t play 4K discs natively.
do you know how to activate the upscale? i have a 4k sony tv and this same blu ray but the video just plays in 1080p with no upscaling
It should do it automatically. My Samsung 4K TV tells me its outputting the video at 3840x2160p. Although the menu on this player may look like crap, playback of Blu-Rays is just fine
+Everything Tech i got it figured out yesterday but thx anyway man
Does it support Amazon prime
4k up converting how does that work?
Using digital enhancements. Not true 4K. I can't even get it to play a regular 4KUHD Disc so how could it possibly give 4KUHD to a non 4KUHD? I think it's like using a pair of reading glasses to read. It don't really make your eyes better, just magnifies what's there.. Hope this helps!
I have a ps3 and a 4k TV, is it worth buying this or wait for a dedicated 4k Blu-ray?
+Beany mane wait for a blu-Ray player that plays 4K blu-rays. This only upscales 1080p and while it looks good, when 4K blu-rays become mainstream you want to be ready
Thanks for the quick reply...
Mine didn’t come wth hdmi cable
Do you know if I connect player to iMac computer
+Ichabod Crane no, it cannot connect to an iMac computer :(
I found this same kind of player and a local goodwill fir $4
I just bought this dvd player and installed it wireless...easy, no problem, until I noticed when i use it, it screws up my Home Nest's network. Second attempt to correct this and now the dvd player keeps telling me that the my network password is wrong...its the same password that worked the first time. getting Sony help is for the birds
Do we really have to see the whole box?
Do u need a 3D tv?
This reminds me of when they started putting hdmi in dvd players.
Do ya have to have Internet Service to use this?
So this has 4k up-scaling, but would it play a 4k disc?
+Midknight1124 im not entirely sure, ill look through the user manual and get back to you but it more than likely should play a 4K disc give that it is still a Blu-Ray disc
True, but I feel like it might be more like trying to play a DVD on a Blu Ray player
well DVDs and Blu-Rays are hard to compare given that BDs have a much higher storage capacity with the entry level BD holding 25GB of data while DVD's cap at 4.5GB. a dual layer BD holds 50GB and a BDXL can hold 100 to 128GB of data. Clearly there is room for high definition video beyond 1080p. As for the playback quality of 1080p discs on a 4K tv using this player, I have to say it is nothing short of amazing. I have a 65" 4K tv and the picture quality is close to 4K !
+Midknight1124 Nope, this player will not play UHD-BluRays. Simply because the player needs to support HDCP2.2 which is not the case here. The termin "4K" is just slapped on the box and the player just allowes upscaling.
No it will not.
,will this play 4k ultra movies
. What will? Is there a not to expense one ?

I can't get it to play my 4KUHD Disc. This sux too I might add. They mislead you putting 4KUHD IN "CAPS" and then slipping in Upscale in lower case. I truly thought I was buying a true 4KUHD player until a year or so later when more DVD's were offered in 4K and I decided to try one. Of course by then I couldn't take this DVD player back and exchange it. I'm pretty sure this was already thought out ahead of time. Go figure, so now they can make a true 4K DVD player and get another dollar from us. They talk about Sony being so high standards, why did the 1st two blue ray players I purchased only lasted 6 months each with 2 totally different issues?
or doess it saporrt Dolby Atmos?**
Only on blu-rays that have Dolby atmos digital tracks
4k blu-ray player with 8k upscaling
I have a 4K tv but not a 3D tv
hey, check out my 4k VHS player! FAIL
+Daniel Brown That would be cool, Id love to see all my 1990's memories in 4K.
Takes to long to get straight to the point of how to connect it
Dude but you dont even show a setup, you just DESCRIBE what is in the menu.
Why you cheat people with you title?
+Alex Jorge I didn't want to get into too much detail but I could make a follow up video. Let me know what your questions are and I will answer them
Is this video intended for kids?
+luddeluring how?
@@FilmsRuiz the part about you guys not being responsible for any injuries while cutting the tape and batteries tape gives off big "kids video" vibes
It's NOT a 4k player, it's an upscaler...
I’m buying that for my possible right girlfriend
This is NOT a 4k player
who gives a shut about bare codes

first thing first dlna feature is pathetic like all bd players............doesnt recognize most of the formats...................2 i m wondering how many cents more would cost to sony to put a volume control ...and i am not talking to tv volume that uses cec which in 90 % of times doesnt work................
This was an alright player. We ended up not using it as often and instead opted for using my PS3 which has a far superior Blu-Ray reader even if it didn't upscale before we made the switch over to digital movie purchases
Don't quit your day job, and treating people like their stupid. Not coming back to this channel.
Good riddance you fool. You don't contribute anything but complaints and stop telling others how to live their lives, you just come off as an asshole and considering you don't upload content, you really shouldn't be telling anyone who does upload videos what to do. This video made it easier for someone who is older to understand the product.
