    +eTechTom What is that Sony DVD player name that is seen at the beginning of the video before the blu ray one?

    I really enjoy the player I had intended on getting the model reviewed here, but purchased the 6500 by mistake. I would say the only differences are that it adds the support for 3D and 4k Upscaling . While I don't need either currently, it's there if I ever decided to invest in those technologies. Great video review.
    Oh, and I have a Roku 3 as a dedicated streaming device as it has features and services the blu-ray players do not. Overall very satisfied with my setup. It offers both quick and basic features and more advanced items as well. It allows me to be flexible depending on if i want to spend time tinkering, or just watch something quick and go.

      what roku features are missing? on the fence between this and that as a gift so any input would be great thanks

      +Sheldon Tone The problem with DVD player apps is that they're different for every manufacturer. I'll never get rid of my roku. The user experience is the best. I use the DVD player for movies only.

    Nice!!... Can you please let me/us know if it has the "Connection Server Settings" under the Network Settings? Would appreciate it, looking to use it as DLNA device. Thanks!

    • @SergSpace
      @SergSpace 8 років тому +1

      +itscrucial He said Plex server, means you have to open account on Plex website and then you can have an access from any mobile devices to your library on Plex web site. Specifications of this player says it's Sony DLNA device. So there should be not problems for your server to identify IP address and Network mask if your DHCP is on. Then you can make this IP static and share device with "Everyone" in network.

    2 questions . You have web browser? It is compatible with a lg tv?

    • @tmc200527
      @tmc200527  8 років тому +1

      +Irving Pastelin It does but it's not like using chrome, IE, or FireFox. It's limited and you have to navigate with the remote. You don't need a smart tv you just need one that has an hdmi input.

    Those Sony Blu Ray players just got rid of the Sirius XM app and boy was I p!$$ed off about it. Would lay in bed and occasionally listen to my satellite radio stations in my room after listening to it in the car after driving home from work, then one day I turned on my blu ray player and up at the top of the screen it would occasionally say "update services" which I would, and, one day I did, and it removed SiriusXM from their "platform"/players. I almost lost my $#!+ on Sony!!

    Does it have wifi or do I have to use a LAN line in order to use the apps??

      +Belinda Cisneros Yes if has built in wifi. I was able to stream video from Amazon and UA-cam without a problem.

      Belinda Cisneros I decided to buy this because I needed a dvd player too. I recently have been looking into the Roku streaming player because it has a PBS app and the Sony does not for some reason. All the Sony internet services are through BRAVIA esupport.sony.com/info/757/US/

    do you know if SOUNDCLOUD runs on the browser / player?

    • @tmc200527
      @tmc200527  8 років тому

      +Phill Butcher I just went through the apps list and that service is not listed so I would say no. It seems like a good market for SoundCloud to take advantage of so maybe you could try to contact them. I tried to contact Sony with live chat and gave up waiting. Your question had me investigate the apps feature of this player so I will post a quick video on that. I did send sound cloud an email informing them that they might want to look into taking advantage of this wireless dvd player market.

    How is the picture quality for playing blu-ray movies?

      +Jin TaizenGaming Sorry I haven't viewed a blu-ray movie yet. I was just looking on Amazon to see what I might be interested in and the only thing I see is Terminator Genisys and they're out of stock.

    could you have skipped the ethernet cable and conneced to wifi?

    • @tmc200527
      @tmc200527  7 років тому

      Do you mean during the initial setup and updating? I don't think it specifically said you needed to use ethernet to set it up. I just thought it would be faster with the ethernet cable. Once you setup the wifi there is no reason why it would not update over your wifi connection that I can think of.

    I'm confused. I admit I'm not that tech savvy. I bought this player so I could stream Netflix. It is wireless and the guy and the Best Buy store said all I needed was what came in the box. However, I see you have other cables attached. I plugged in the power adapter and turned it on. Nothing happens, Do I need cables to get it to work?

    • @tmc200527
      @tmc200527  8 років тому

      +Tammy Brooks Are you familiar with your router? You have to turn it on and copy down the WEP code you created. Hook up the player with an HDMI to the HDMI input on your TV. Use your TV remote to change the input to the HDMI input you connect the Sony Player to. Turn on the player with the player remote and navigate to the setup icon at the top right. Select it and then select 123 easy network settings icon second from the bottom. Than you step through the wireless setup process. You will need to identify your wireless network and select it and also enter the same WEP code that is associated with your router.

      My tv only has one HDMI slot. If I plug in the player, I can't plug in my cable box. I'm sorry, I just am not getting this.

    • @tmc200527
      @tmc200527  8 років тому

      Does the cable box have an HDMI input? I found this online. If your "RCA" connections are actually Component connections which can do HD, and the cable box has an HDMI INPUT (not just output), you can just route the player though the cable box. If you don't have Component connections on the TV, replace the TV if you want to use it with a Bluray player

    How do I connect it via WiFi?

    • @tmc200527
      @tmc200527  8 років тому

      +Kelly Williams It steps you through the wireless setup process. Depending on how you want to protect your wireless connection you enter a code that you get from your router during the Sony wifi setup process.

    is the streaming fast?

    • @tmc200527
      @tmc200527  8 років тому

      +richard utz I would think it's only going to be as fast as your internet connection. I have a download speed of 59 Mbps with Verizon
      Fios. I can stream movies by ethernet or wireless with no problems.
