The difference between auto1 and auto2 on the 4k upscaling section is in the thick manual that comes with the player. I believe auto1 is specifically for bravia tvs and auto2 is general upscaling software
Thanx, but WHAT thick manual? I'm in Canada, and manuals have been DISCONTINUED for a long time here. If we want to scan a manual we have to Google it. That's no good bcuz usually I am using my computer and monitor to fix issues, and I cannot do both at the same time.
For some people with issues of skipping or freezing on 4k discs should turn this option to OFF and see if it fixes your problem. Theres another video on YT explaining about this.
Hi . I have lipsync problem just bouth this player today and when i see a movie the audio is slower than in the movie😢 im have this passing cinama30 before going to Tv, can You fix it??😊 i love this movie👍👍
You would need to tinker with the audio delay on the player or your TV. It can be tedious, but you may have to adjust and the play content over and over until it looks right to you.
7:00 - What Audio DRC means is Dynamic Range Compression of the disc that you decide to put into the disc tray. Auto performs playback at the dynamic range specified by the disc which is applied to BD-ROMs only. Other discs are played back at the "On" level. On performs playback at a "standard" compression level. Off offers no compression, therefore, a "more dynamic" sound is produced.
@@b-icemediaOf course! ^.^ I wish Sony would make it more clear to, I hade to look it up myself to see what it meant. And I think it's best to set this best on your personal preference...I have mine set to On.
@@b-icemedia Above answer is a bit confusing. DRC, Dynamic Range Compression. Is good if you have neighbors but you lose dynamic range. The loudest part will be lowered in volume and the quiet part will be a bit louder. Yamahas calls this feature night cinema mode, with is a better name :) For best performance this should be off.
For the 4K Update setting I recommend turning it off and not using the Auto. Most good recent 4K TVs can upscale better than the 4k Blu-ray players. Also I've heard this can cause freezing on the Sony 4K Blu-ray players.
I have the Sony x85j tv and the Sony x800m2 4k Blu-ray player. I have the 4k upscale setting on the player set to Auto 2 as I personally think the player does a better job of upscaling than the TV. But, to each his own. Also, to keep 4k disc from freezing when using 4k upscale setting, simply turn this function off when watching a 4k disc and change Cinema Conversion Mode from Auto to Video and just keep it on Video as this will not affect picture quality.
@ 9:44ish. I CANNOT turn OFF my CC. There is no option for that to turn on or off that I can see? I am hearing impaired and I usually use the Subtitles option on the disc itself. Can anybody help me with that please? BTW, thanx for having this channel, as videos are easier to follow than text instructions.
There isn't an option in the menu itself, but you should be able to hit the CC button on the remote to control whether it's on, off, or its options. I hope this helps!
Thx for this video. I went out today looking for a new bluray player. On the road to BB I stopped at an Estate sale. They were about to shut down and said everything was 75% off. Found this tucked away under a blanket on a top shelf in a closet. Out the door for $8. I suspect someone must have hidden it and forgot to come back for it. Look like its been lightly used. It didnt have the manual but this video is BETTER than any manual as it explains these obscure settings.
I bought one of these Blue ray player's so I needed to find a video so that I can understand this 4K player so thanks for doings this video it helps me understand how to play this TV Blue ray player better than I did.
There is unfortunately not a way to boost the volume for a specific kind of format to my knowledge. I would just turn up your main volume to make up for it!
Does this unit deal with switching layers (I'm guessing that's the problem) better than the original X800, which I have? I'm having to return a 4k disc because it freezes at a particular spot all the time. it's a StudioCanal production, which has a much higher bit rate than a US-produced disc.
That I'm not sure of as this is the first Sony blu-ray player I've tested and used for quite some time. I'm going to go out on a limb and say no based on the responses I've received from my full review video on this player. Many people complained of 4K playback freezing often.
It has nothing to do with the disc. Make sure your settings matches the TV. Set the players resolution to match the TV and turn off auto upscaling. It will work perfectly fine on 100 gig disc.
When a Blu-ray disc offers you a dual 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio option, is the 16:9 setting on the player supposed to fill the entire screen during playback?
Since I plan on upgrading my TV to a Dolby Vision-capable model on the next Prime day or black Friday I started out by getting this player to replace my original X800, which doesn't have that feature. My Denon X4700 is already ready for the switch. I'll install it this weekend.
@@b-icemedia Worked out fine...now I have to figure out what TV to get. The fact that it has a specific setting for the Sony Bravia series makes it a tough decision - The Sony's come with a premium price tag, but I've liked other Sony product I've bought, like both of my current digital cameras and the first TV I ever bought. I'll probably get a mini-LED TV because they're more of a value compared to OLED...Eventually I'd like to get one of each to put in different environments, but that's a pipe dream for the distant future!
As a part profit-taking move and part emotional blanket (my cat died unexpectedly last week) I ordered a new TV yesterday from B&H, a 65" LG G4 that will replace my 50" QNED80 (side-lit). I should get it, after it ships, in between 5 and 9 days. Too bad I'll probably have to miss Oshkosh (or most of it) to be here for the delivery but I can't wait to see blacks that aren't just dark grey and no, or at least less. blooming/bleeding around colors. I am still happy for what I got now compared to what it replaced but I'm sure the new one will be even better. It'll probably stick out like a sore thumb on my wall and have to move a bookcase for it to fit, though :) Between the sale price, a gift card that I used to cover part of the expense and using my Payboo card and choosing the pay all at once option to save on state tax, I saved over $1k on the purchase! The downside is that the new TV cost about 4x what I paid for my current TV!
thanks for the video. I'm looking for an entry level but still solid blu-ray player and I'm considering buying this. Just a question: can I connect my headphones to this blu-ray player?
I think the freezing is due to settings. There is a good UA-cam video of someone recommending the best settings to prevent freezing. I remember one is to turn off upscaling.
If you want to fix the problem with 100 gig disc, make sure the players resolution matches the TV, turn off auto put it on 4K and turn off auto upscaling works perfectly fine after that.
