There are plenty of videos like this for fallout games, but very few tips for the actual combat. Maybe do a follow up on that. Three examples:
if you hit key stim packs, you can use them even when knocked down via fire or explosion. This can be life saving.
Some armor will slow your movement, and no, it’s not just the ones that say agility -x. Vault security armor is an example of one that slows your movement but doesn’t state any agility penalty. You can hotkey armor just like weapons and it swaps instantly. You can use this to equip lighter armor while moving and heavy when cover or running away isn’t an option. This is especially useful for closing gaps as a melee character.
Stealth weapons like BB gun can be used to lure enemies to the place the bullet hit. You can use this to let’s say… lure a raider away from a certain hill and steal a super sledge from their base. Or lure a tough enemy into a line of mines and they’ll follow it like breadcrumbs.
If you heart this, I’ll give you a few more examples of tricks you can use for combat the game doesn’t tell you.

      Here’s a few more:
Poison damage from dart or ant sting stacks with each hit. And it applies even if blocked melee. This is very effective against armored human targets.
While difficulty does increase enemy health and maybe dr it doesn’t increase gun dr of enemies. This means you can reliably strip weapons out of the hands of your opponents even on hardest setting. Combine with dart gun to make over half enemies trivial to beat. Bb and dart are especially effective for this as they are silent and at max skill have zero spread. You point, it hits. You can also hit optics to frenzy a turret. No need to hack terminal.
Just because you can’t target parts with vats melee doesn’t mean you can hit specific areas outside vats. Strike their weapon with melee to disarm. If you hit an opponent during windup you can sometimes disarm in one hit.
Armor strength isn’t just about dr, but also health. Motorcycle helmet for example has 5 dr but breaks very quickly. Metal armor lasts a long time. Radiation suits are very flimsy and should only be worn when drinking water or eating outside combat to maximize use. A few hits late game by anything and it’s done.
You can detonate some traps like mines and bear traps by shooting them. No need to have repair skill.

My first Fallout game. I still love it. Hasn’t aged that great due to the huge surgence in open world games. But back in 08, it was amazing. Also still love exploring downtown DC.
EDIT: I worded this a little poorly originally, but after so many replies, I will clarify. I meant the shooting gameplay has not aged well. It just is not a very smooth game. I do think the exploration has aged very well, and exploring downtown DC is still the best exploration in all of Fallout.
And I meant it when I said I still love it. But New Vegas improved the gameplay a lot.

Some aspects aged well. But the shooter mechanics are rough. Even with a mouse. And VATs is clunky.
I know what you mean by 'noob friendly', and that's true. Especially how they linearized all the indoor locations. In Fallout 3 exploring some of the non-linear office buildings and stuff was fun. In Fallout 4 they kind of one main path.
But having a smooth clean engine helps a ton. So that's what I meant by it not aging well. It's just not a very polished game mechanics wise.
Somehow, kid me was able to play that game comfortable with a controller. I got no clue how I did that.

You were not born in the Rivet City bow. You were born in the Jefferson Memorial, in one of the rooms inside the basement level. You can find the gene projector and the weird ceiling light thing there as well.
Wasteland Survival Guide was also a skill book in New Vegas before Fallout 4.
Getting shunned from Rivet City only lasts for three days, like any location apart from Paradise Falls, where hostility is permanent. Rivet City's people will complain about you in idle chatter though.
No, Bethesda did not intend for the T-51b set you find in the Outcast VSS facility to be the same one Charon was wearing. They intended for it to be a Non-Sim Winterized version. Has the same white paint coating, but non-infinite durability and still 5 less DR than the Fort Constantine T-51b.

There’s a locker out of bounds in Moria’s store, you can get the house items for free just by looting the locker that’s out of bounds. To get them you have to make sure you’re in sneak mode, while doing that hug the wall till you can peak at one the locker through the walls, next park is fun go third person mode and try and angle the camera into looking at the locker and steal all the house items. And just like that you didn’t have to pay a single cap for your home items

    2. Once you inside, turn left into the open doorway
    3. Turn to your left which then you will be facing a wall next to a pipe
    4. Crouch and spin you camera outside the wall and then you will see that you can open a locker. (It will count as stealing so make sure no one sees you) also make sure you camera moves and not your character at the same time, to do this simply hold the 3rd person button and then hold it while spinning your camera inside the wall
    5. Open the locker and in which you will find every house upgrade for you Megaton Player Home!

I love the video but I can definetly see improvements such as doing the perfect character guide to have special all 10 and all skill points to 100 and with the guide of all these skillbooks it adds big stuff to getting to 100 all stats even easier. Also for all the upgrades to your megaton house there is a corner in moira's shack where you can open a container like the chest in that one place in skyrim with the snow with the cat merchants i forgor. And essentially it has all the upgrades.

There a random encounter you can have with someone in fallout 3. When you finish the wastland survival guide you can encounter a girl that say “I almost died because of this stupid book and than give you the book after some speech dialogue. I’m not sure how rare the encounter is but I’m sure it won’t happen untill you finish the book.

Always start with 9 Int and as soon as you get out of the vault, make a b-line for Rivet City. Don't kill anything, avoid fights, you don't want to level up. Also don't read books until you reach the science lab at Rivet City and get the Int bobblehead. Enjoy reaching 100 in every skill way before level 30

Very useful video. I always wanted to play Fallout 3 since it's release but i never had a chance to do so, because something always got on the way. Like, tons of other games got in the way, or i just forgot about Fallout 3. And so, after so many years i finally remember that i wanted to play this game, got it, tried it out and... well, it ended up too much for me. I mean, there is $hit metric tons of stuff to do in this game, and i'am not used to it. I always played action games or fps games for my whole life, and i have been stuck with fighting games too. So, playing Fallout 3 for me is such a big challenge that it becomes frustrating. I even stopped playing it for few days already, because it felt like i'am not moving anywhere in that game, been always stuck in the same place, doing random stuff and with less luck of having a good guns or upgrades and stuff. And so, after watching your video for about 18 minutes i realized that, you can't play this game without a freaking guide. I mean, how do you supposed to know, where is what and what to do, if you are playing this game for the first time? Sure, i didn't had any problems with many other games that i played through my life, but this one here... it is quite big challenge. Sure, i played RPG games in the past, like Metro 2033 or Stalker, but those games are easy to play. I mean, i can run through Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl from start to end without any problems by just holding sprint button, and have all weapons and stuff in no time. In Fallout 3 on the other hand, it became so frustrating that it later became boring to even play this game. So yeah, i'am in conflict with myself, where one half of me wanted to left this game and play it further, by just having fun, but other half wanted to delete the game and forget that it even existed. Thus, i don't know what i want from this game. Do i want to play it, or do i want to remove it. Like, i want to do both: play and and uninstall it, but since i can't do both at the same time, i just decided to stay away from this game for a while. Playing some boomer shooters. And i feel like Fallout 3 is not the game that i wanted anymore. Maybe i'm wrong and need to give it a chance, but if i'm gonna play it by tutorial then what's the point of playing it anyway?

    • @GameVibzMason

Truthfully I would not tell a new player to follow this guide. In about an hour you've gotten most of the best stuff in the game and become OP. For a better experience I would just tell a new player to go in blind and enjoy the game as intended with it's progression curve intact.
