Some tips about the trains. They are one class, so travelling upstairs is no more expensive than the bottom level - and the views are better. You get the best views by sitting on the left-hand side in each direction. On the journey to Katoomba, this lets you look into many of the valleys heading into the southern wilderness of the Mountains. On the journey home, you see Mt Hay, a mountain which ends the central ridge.
For those spending a bit of time in Sydney the train trip west to the BM is a must do. The train trips north to Gosford and south to Wollongong or Kiama are every bit as brilliant and have some remarkable unique coastal / water scenery.
Now living in Cairns I previously resided for 16 years in Katoomba. This video brings back many memories, especially of that journey to and from Central station by train.!.I miss that unique mountain air. Thanks for posting.
This is what I needed for my upcoming trip to Sydney, The Blue Mountains are in my list of things to do. What a great summary of how to do the trip, great tips! Thank you for sharing!
Hi Josh.. Magic !!!! I was looking for this, what the locals do. I will do this when im in Sydney. Thank you for your time and efforts in making this fantastic video..John
Great information, we are staying in Sydney from the 29 October for a week and planning on taking the train to the Blue Mountains, can 8 ask how long it took to walk from the station to the Blue Mountains?
The mountain range is called the Blue Mountains. I think you mean to the Jamison valley, much of which is shown in this video. The walk is a gentle half hour stroll.
This is an AWESOME video!! I just arrived in Sydney yesterday & I'd like to do this adventure. My question: are there lots of snakes there? I'm ophidiophobic & would probably just pass out.
There are snakes there. You are very unlikely to meet them at paths of the bushwalking tracks there though. Don’t step away from the track, and you should be fine. I walk along these tracks, never seen snakes so far.
How many hours should I explore this place to take selfie pictures and videos of mine cause I’m solo traveler.I don’t want to be in hurry just want more time.
No. You actually can't book seats on the intercity services. Just tap on and off with opal. The blue mountains trains work just like the ones in Sydney (but less frequent, obviously). Unless you're travelling on a summer weekend at peak times you'll get a seat :) Bring snacks and drinks for the trains. It's quite a long journey and there's no catering on board at all - not even a water fountain.
As said before, you can't book. If you're staying in Sydney and going to Katoomba for a day trip, you'll be going in the opposite direction to the bulk of the traffic each way.
And no real need for them. The V set trains remain an extremely comfortable way of travelling. I've not been in a carriage built to the latest design, but would be surprised if they were as comfortable as a V class. With either design of trains (they're electric multiple units) no need to worry about strange roads, different road rules and so forth..@@Enochsright
I found using Google or Apple Maps was best. Just type in your destination and click the “train/bus” option instead of the car option is most likely on by default. Go to your nearest train station and find the matching terminal/platform.
You can use bushwalking tracks to go down the valley, it’s very hard physically though. Ot walk along cliff tops tracks. You can use a scenic world cable car to go above the valley (shown in the video).
@@JoshGoesSlow just the blue mountains for Christmas last year. Mum and dad are “working from anywhere” in a caravan, and they were based there during Christmas time.

Hi! just a question about the train. is there a specific time where they will be there to pick up passengers?
Some tips about the trains. They are one class, so travelling upstairs is no more expensive than the bottom level - and the views are better. I am heading Sydney in a couple weeks!!!!!!
Enjoy your holiday

Thanks 🙏
Do we need to book the tickets in advance?
@@iroshaalahakoon8129 No need to book seats -indeed, I'm pretty sure that you can't book. these days.
Man, you've done more for tourism to this part of the Sydney basin than any tourist glossy brochure I've seen. Well done!.

Hey, I live there :D (And yep it's beautiful - and it's easy to escape the tourists once you know their patterns. I'm *very* lucky to live here)
Excellent
Going there next year, and your video gave me a clear idea of what to expect and where to go! Thanks!
Thank you for sharing. Wonderful videos.
My go-to place. I love it there. will definitely take the train next time
Josh thanks, very comprehensive, shall do this hopefully in 3months time, cheers =)
Very enjoyable josh and excellent filming. Really good overview and definitely good value on the cityrail train 👍
Thanks mate, appreciate the comment!
@@JoshGoesSlow all good mate. I made a few typos which I corrected. I hope your new car is going great 👍

I went to Katoomba afew years back and loved it, got the tour bus to hop on and off on

You're a true leader.
Thanks for this video! Exactly what I needed in making my Sydney itinerary.
Beautiful video 8:19
Thank you. This is exactly what I wanted.
amazing video, thanks!
Thanks
Sydney’s transport is the most busiest I think. Still nice journey.
Never heard of Scenic World until now
Good Video!
Wonderful place
I was wondering what to do in Sydney soon, problem solved...thanks great video
It’s the BEST😂 🎉❤I love you australia
Has the vegetation recovered from the devastating bush fires ?
Yes. Was there yesterday bushwalking.

Drive up to here from Christie's
Hey there, what tools do you used to do the video recording?
How much for scenic cableway
After getting down from train do we have to buy bus ticket there??
No, the Blue Mountains use opal cards.
So i can use opal card for the bus service from katoomba to scenic world right??
Yes
How many hours should I explore this place to take selfie pictures and videos of mine cause I’m solo traveler.I don’t want to be in hurry just want more time.
A whole day is fine I think
How much for scenic cableway?
Interesting
Muruga muruga 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Hey there! Thank you for the video! Did you use your OPAL card to pay for the train to Blue Mountains or did you pay separately? Thank you in advance
Hi, You can use opal or your contactless bank card to get to the blue mountains. The fare should be the same with both.
Do you know if the express train is still on?
As of the current train timetable… yes it is. It takes just under 1hr 45mins.
Hi Josh, is it required to pre-book the train tix from Central Station to Katoomba Station to secure seats?
No not at all. I’m fact you can’t. It’s part of the Sydney rail, just like any metro you just use an opal card or bank card and get on.
No. You actually can't book seats on the intercity services. Just tap on and off with opal. The blue mountains trains work just like the ones in Sydney (but less frequent, obviously). All above true, your nothing special as a tourist so no special trains either.

Is there any app where i can get info about trains?
You can simply use Google map's public transport section
I found using Google or Apple Maps was best. Just type in your destination and click the “train/bus” option instead of the car option is most likely on by default.
Go to your nearest train station and find the matching terminal/platform.
Sydney transport info line
Is it a must to take the scenic railway? Any alternative? It's too steep. Very scared.
You can use bushwalking tracks to go down the valley, it’s very hard physically though.
Ot walk along cliff tops tracks.
You can use a scenic world cable car to go above the valley (shown in the video).
How much all this cost together. Do you have to use all these transactions to carry on your hike?
Public transport is capped at $17.80 per day if you use Opal or contactless
I drove from Brisbane to Katoomba. Never again 😂 I’d rather fly and train it.
Yeah, that’s a long way to drive. We’re you going somewhere else, or just blue mountains?
@@JoshGoesSlow just the blue mountains for Christmas last year. Mum and dad are “working from anywhere” in a caravan, and they were based there during Christmas time.
oh yuck those purple seats
Yeah I’m not too sure on them either haha
The bush plum seats
