Dragon Ascent is maybe symbolic of the fact that maybe a Dragon's defining moment is when they take flight? You see this a lot with Pokémon, especially with the Bagon line: a small dragon with no wings or the ability to fly, finally evolves into a "true dragon", soaring to the skies... "ascending into dragon-hood" if you will.
Fun fact: Wailord is less dense than air. Therefore it makes perfect sense for wailord to be able to do this. In fact, the only part that's debatable is the coming down part.

None of the pokemon that learn fly by leveling up are birds, and there are a lot of dragons, a couple bats and bugs, random deities, and a jet-propelled clay statue mixed in with the birds that learn it through an HM. While all bird pokemon can learn it through an HM, it could be argued that it's too generic of a flying thing to be in the "things that birds do" category for the same reason the flying type was too generic to be named bird type when the first games were released. For oblivion wing, I definitely agree with you. The only thing that can normally learn the move is a bird, but it isn't a very bird-like thing to do. The closest I can think of is vampire finches pecking larger birds until they bleed and drinking their blood, but that's only a survival technique used when actual food is too scarce and isn't exactly the same as a bird spreading its wings to fire a beam of energy that siphons life from anything it touches. I also don't think birds would normally hit things with their wings or throw their feathers. I'm pretty certain they mostly use their beaks and talons to fight. Wing attack is basically just a slap with a limb that specifically developed to have high air resistance (which causes a lot of the force of the attack to be wasted on pushing air), and I don't think they even have a good method to throw feathers after plucking them.

I have always connected Feather Dance to burlesque act of the same name. The user dances enticingly with their feathers as part of the display and spectacle thus distracting the opponent and lower their attack. When you take into consideration the mating rituals of many birds, thinking primarily the more out their displays of the Birds of Paradise and so on, it kinda makes sense.

That's a misconception, Flying Press is a Fighting type move, that also deals Flying type damage, there's no actual dual type move in Pokemon, Flying Press is listed as a Fighting type move, it only has a special property.

Ice types should resist Flying attacks - Any "bird" attacks are softened by cold, as birds cannot fly as well in the cold - Any "wind" attacks just cool down the battlefield, better for Ice. Flying is broken offensively and Ice is shitty defensively, this needs to happen
I think Ash’s Rowlet showed off Feather Dance quite well, where it makes a weak substitute last second and jumps out of the way, not quite fully dodging, but having the feathers take some of the blow for it.

Sky Attack seems to be a combination between Fly ( attacking on the next turn ), Air Slash ( makes enemy flinched ), and Air Cutter ( easy critical hit )
I legitimately believe Pokemon just give off different types of energy that we call types. That's why something like Chatter is flying type while screech isn't. Normal types just don't give off any of that special energy.

It's technically a fighting type movie, but also uses flying type for it's damage calcs. Shouldn't it at least be mentioned somewhat for it's unique situation?
That's a misconception, Flying Press is a Fighting type move, that also deals Flying type damage, there's no actual dual type move in Pokemon, Flying Press is listed as a Fighting type move, it only has a special property.

So imo it should have been mentioned because it has that aspect and is a unique situation so far.
Ice types should resist Flying attacks
- Any "bird" attacks are softened by cold, as birds cannot fly as well in the cold
- Any "wind" attacks just cool down the battlefield, better for Ice.
Flying is broken offensively and Ice is shitty defensively, this needs to happen

I think Ash’s Rowlet showed off Feather Dance quite well, where it makes a weak substitute last second and jumps out of the way, not quite fully dodging, but having the feathers take some of the blow for it.

I legitimately believe Pokemon just give off different types of energy that we call types. That's why something like Chatter is flying type while screech isn't. Normal types just don't give off any of that special energy.
