- David and David show you 10 different ways to free up iCloud storage space on your iPhone. A lot of different things use iCloud storage space, but the biggest offender for most people is Photos.
If your iCloud storage is full, start by deleting photos and videos you no longer need. ProRes videos and ProRAW photos are particularly large!
If you have a Mac, check if Desktop Documents and Folders are being backed up to iCloud Drive. This can use a lot of your iCloud storage, if you're not careful. We'll show you how to clear up iCloud storage by turning this setting off on your Mac.
Large attachments in Messages and Mail also use #iCloud storage space. While individual images or email attachments may be small, they add up quickly!
Make sure you don't have any backups from devices you no longer use. These unnecessary backups can take up several GB of iCloud storage space.
Apple gives you the option to pay for additional iCloud #storage space. While this may be the most convenient option for a lot of people, consider backing up your photos to your computer instead of iCloud. We'll show you how to back up your photos to a Mac or a PC!

40 of 50GB available. Texts are 4GB. I need to purge. Show people how they can delete large text attachments if they don’t want to auto delete texts after 30 days. Great info!
4.5 of 5GB. I really don't want to use iCloud at all (i avoided turning on iCloud in previous ios updates) but I feel it threatens to delete all the photos on my phone if I delete them from iCloud. Is that true? Google has already backed up these same photos

1. Have you produced a video instructing how to back-up the entire iPhone - including notes, messages, photos, etc. - directly to an external hard drive instead of the Mac's internal hard drive?

I like some of the transitions, but sometimes they're a bit too much and are seemingly random. Since we use these persistent elements that transition across pages to indicate some kind of relationship between the previous and the next states, some of your transitions confuse me because I can't immediately see what the relationship is.
For example 1:23 of the selectable tiles (which weren't selected) transition into being two switches... does that mean anything? are they related in some way? I see this as random and a bad use of the design language. However, at 3:14 I like the transition from switches to the ticks on a paper, that makes sense to me. Epic presentation

This was a very informative. I just wish I could figure out how to access my photos from iCloud only. My phone’s storage keeps filling up and all of the photos that seem like they are on my phone are not downloaded from the cloud. Because I don’t have enough space on my phone the photos won’t even download. And I can’t even airdrop them to my other devices. How do I get them out of the cloud using another one of my apple devices or my computer?

Nice video guys, thanks, yes, I usually do a back up to my windows tablet,,,,,,, but what if I want to back up to google photos , do I lose quality of pro resolution, or if I’m taking 48 megapixel shots . ?
Very good tutorial! Backing up my husband's iPhone photos to our mac today as he is out of storage. I have family sharing which I think backs up his photos and my photos to the same iCloud drive. Is my understanding correct? All the photos from my iPhone automatically come to the mac. Can I delete them from my iPhone?

Thank you for your videos but I would have a special request. Could you make bigger screen shots of the selections you make in the settings? I am a French Canadian and most of the time I do not have the same presentation as you do, even with the same iOS version. Most of the time I have to go back and play the same things many times.

Thanks for the great video. How do I download iMessages with photos to my PC?
I feel like we have very different phones, I see none of which u show to delete. ProRaw and ProRes? Delete documents and data? Mine just says delete data in red so I clicked on delete and it did nothing. My phone hasn’t enough space for backups for a couple years. I can’t figure out how to fix it. Deleted every single photo, didn’t work. Says I used 3.5 out of 5.5 and still not enough space. I give up

If you are watching on a laptop, you can click on the gear at the bottom of the screen and it opens a window that gives you the option to change the playback speed. Don't know if you are watching on a phone.
@johncooke1386 what I did because I am hearing disabled, is turn on the subtitles. Stop it every sentence, sometimes go backward and I took 10 pages of notes. I know this is very OLD school, but now I have the entire video written down. Yes, it took a while, but it is now in my notebook for me to refer to any time I need to review it. :) I hope this helps. Some people, if you watch this on a laptop and have PPT, you could copy and paste with your snipping tool, each frame (a lot of work, I know) and have it in PPT.

I went into my i cloud drive and it's on (green button) and my question is: my manage storage is 0 kb and my apps sent to I cloud drive is also 0. is that ok or do I need to turn something on?? I did request my i cloud photo's, downloaded them to my computer and have a copy and I think now I can delete my photos from my icloud storage, is this correct?? I recently (a year ago) bought a new phone. from you video I checked and it is still backing up the old iphone. I copied all these files over and there is nothing new on this phone I use it to listen to podcasts (it doesn't have cell servce. should i delete this from back up? Great video thank you. Jim
What anout backing up to your NAS, if you have it? I use Synology. Next to my computer plus backup. It is perfect! Though I have also iCloud 200 Gb for 2.99.

I feel absolutely puzzled dealing with my cloud storage I can't wait to cancel my subscription, I can never seem to be able to transfer my photos from photos to the cloud drive and then to my computer. This is why I download Google Photos so that I don't use up all my space. I only keep pics that I'll use as a wallpaper.
I have tried to save my photos from iCloud multiple times with multiple methods. But I can never seem to keep the original date of the images. It will have the current date. Sometimes it will keep the original date of some, but not all images. Any thoughts?

Every time I transfer to an external it only will show the date they were transferred to the external device and bot the original date taken. Its so frustrating, now if I delete the photos/videos after the transfer to the external how the heck am I supposed to remember when the original photos/videos were actually taken??????

When I transfer them to my computer they are in separate files ALL jumbled up, not at all in the order they were on my phone. It’s a mess. I don’t know why I bother, when I exit this earthly plain my kids will not be going thru my computer…
They want your iCloud to be full and they want all your info in the cloud and they want it to be hard to delete

Good info. I try to follow along, stop the presentation then pop over to do as you show. Apparently if one has an older phone it won't match with what you show. But I do like the suggestion on the external drive. Question is can you use a thumb drive to just save photos then dump onto a computer? No I'm not tech at all but always confused😂
You can use a thumb drive. I'd recommend using two drives so you have two copies in case one becomes defective.
But what if I don’t have a laptop or a Mac what if I just have an iPhone and an iPad can I still use that external hard drive directly with the iPhone and or the iPad?

I watched this & I have an iPhone 12Pro. I don’t see “pro raw” or “pro Res” on my phone. My list ends w “screenshots” then there is the “UTILITY” category which lists!imports Hidden & Recently Deleted.
