I've had my Mathy III automatic for about two years now, its basically a rolex datejust homage with the jubilee bracelet with a butterfly clasp. So far i like it because i really wanted the butterfly clasp wich i couldnt find anywhere, only thing I gotta say is it loses about a minute a day so i need to keep reajusting it so that kinda sucks.
No hacking, poor water resistance, not full sapphire, date changes too early, cheapo clasp, and too big for the type of watch that it is, IMO. But that dial is wins me over! Still too pricey for all it's shortcomings, but I might consider the quartz version, which is much less expensive.
I just looked up this mathey, they have a purple 💜 for men in this style very nice.. I'm glad u did a review on this , I just want for the purple 💜 dial... I'm gonna mod it with the AR , jomashop thank for the the reviews
I got one in my collection, i gave them a try 1 year ago and i am not disappointed at all even with all the bs they are saying on Mathey-Tissot, the brand might just have went to shit during quartz crisis like many others and they couldn't keep up
I love the dial and the finishing looks good. I was considering the quartz versions. Leaving outside the US, I'd have to pay duties, so I'd end up paying 120 dollars. I own a few Paganis, including the Datejust with fluted bezel, which I got for 70 dollars. Considering the pagani is automatic NH35, has good finishing, sapphire, etc., is it worth paying twice as much for a quartz MT? What do you think? Thanks!
Mine arrived today from Jomashop. Paid $320. Bought it because I wanted something in 42mm, automatic, with that color dial and Swiss made. I am torn. I don’t expect much for $320 - I own Omega, Breitling, Tudor, Squale, Tissot, Hamilton, Ball, Oris, etc. But I do expect solid end links and a sapphire crystal. My bad for finding this video after I purchased the watch. I can still return it as the protective wrap and tags are still on it, but I might order a better bracelet and if the crystal scratches or shatters I’ll replace it with a better crystal. That dial color… Incidently I have to Squale Onda and that dial pattern is clearly ripped off by this design.
I don’t disagree with the end links and whatnot. The issue is I think a lot of us have gotten use to getting solid end links on cheaper watches such as Pagani design, parnis, and similar. At this point in the game, if Pagani design(yes Chinese) can give me an automatic watch, solid case and sapphire crystal, with a solid bracelet and end links, and a glide lock style clasp for $90, then more is expected from over $300,
I’m depressed because I can’t get a Swiss watch at a Chinese watch price with all the other amenities. One thing that doesn’t depress me is slave labor as long as it’s someone else doin’ the slavin’.
Do not buy this watch. I got this exact model for my birthday. In its first year I wore it probably 6 or 7 weeks. After about 14 months, I wore it again and after 2 days it just stopped and will not restart, and the hands are stuck. Quality control is terrible. Anyone buying one of these be warned, you are not getting a quality item and be prepared for complete failure. Better off with a reliable Seiko or Orient - and the Chinese brands are more reliable
MT is pure garbage, you don't even know exactly what movement you are going to have as they keep changing them, sure they use ETA clones, but I have even seen some advertised with a SW and when verifying they were using a Ronda alternative. Most of their parts are imported from Asia, as the 60% included 'design' and marketing costs, so really, at the end you could get as little as 20% of the real cost of the watch being Swiss and MT excells at being on the thin border line of this swissness regulation. You are better of getting a Chinese that cost the same price with a Sellita movement or even $100 cheaper with a PT5000 I.e. SanMartin or Ironwatch, you will get much better quality of finishing and better value for money. IMO MT, a brand that has been sold to the highest bidder in 2013, by a company called SWP SA, a wholesaler and Importer of goods, has just become a swissness scam. Again that is my opinion.
If you buy this type of watch you know that it's just fun, you are aware that you are only throwing a few hundred dollars to be able to say that you have an automatic watch with the caption "swiss made". it's just a whim, If it breaks you throw it away and buy another one. Nobody thinks this is a great Swiss watch. It is not a serious watch and does not claim to be.
I have a 20 000 watch and also two of the jumbo they are great and very nice looking watches for 500-1000 dollars .. they are good quality parts.. what you on about like you know if there good or not they use a good motor and parts your comment is garbage who cares its swiss made and owned end of story
FINALLY someone reviewing a mathey Tissot

Maybe 🤔 an adjustment to the movement could solve that
@@allthingsrandom8137 yeah I think Ill try that !
@@allthingsrandom8137 seriously other than that I love that watch, I got the one with the blue dial
I was about to get the Tissot PRX with the waffle light blue dial. Then I seen this one so I bought it for 285. Still want that PRX though. lol

Your review puts me off alone. Not touching them.
Can I fix the butterfly clasp for this watch from local watch shop?
This specifically is not a butterfly clasp, it’s just a standard pressed clasp, but it can be replaced with almost anything if you know the link size
I just looked up this mathey, they have a purple 💜 for men in this style very nice.. I'm glad u did a review on this , I just want for the purple 💜 dial... I'm gonna mod it with the AR , jomashop thank for the the reviews
Nice find!
Thanks very much for this
Mathey tissot is so underrated. I have purchase two of them and I’m thinking a third.
For the price, and Swiss and automatic? Such a good deal

I've got one. Beautiful watch and great time keeper✨
There are loads of these at a local watchmaker & second hand seller. Most of them from the 60s or so.
Not enough watch for the $$$( much better options out there) but the quartz is right on!
The hollow end links make any watch feel cheap, imo.
I agree.
Setting the date and time wrong can ruin the calendar wheel and make it flip early or late. Just saying.
The watch was in the A.M. when he changed the date, so it should be safe.
I think it looks nice. Swiss made is always a plus.
Agreed
$290 now
I saw that
Is it good for invest?
Watches should never be bought as an investment
Could have done better for this price

Squale Onda Dial in a Rolex style case
Priced like watches with cheap movements.

Thanks for that. Appreciate the honesty!
Maybe $250...
man this whole thing is depressing.
A little….
i prefer the quartz or eco.i dont like automatic movement
