For those of you wondering why I am boycotting TT, it goes back a few years to when they blatantly stole design queues from Fractal Designs Define R5 and several Case Labs cases... when CaseLabs protested they actually sent their lawyers after CaseLabs after stealing their designs. The parties involved have since left the company at TT but they will never again be featured or supported by this channel... period. Oh... and by the way, the parts were thrown back in the box, not the ground... but the ground would have been better.

Its about mindshare. Its about time AMD did something to improve their view in the publics eyes. Intel doesn't need to make fancy boxes because their name speaks for itself. AMD doesn't quite enjoy that level of mindshare yet.

Eh, its no different than say Nvidia making embossed fancy boxes for the Titan X series. Knowing full well most folks are going to trash bin the box. Yet they still put a little time in the packaging for their $1000 product.

He pulled the 2 Thermaltake products out and aimed them directly at the camera, THEN threw them down. He should have just never shown them if he just wanted to toss them, but he wanted us to know he can afford to throw away hundreds of dollars worth of product, instead of helping out someone that CANT afford it.
So glad to know that a lot of people don't have short memories and are still boycotting the obnoxious TT.

Been running multi-cpu systems for years for that exact reason. Don't need a 16/32 system with 128GB of ram, but damn it I enjoy having one.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who no longer uses Thermaltake. Their "Riing" fans are very pricey for the performance and the lights on them are very dim (not to mention I was "fortunate" enough to get one of these fans that wouldn't reach it's maximum advertised speed), their "TG-7" paste dries up very quickly and doesn't do a great job at transferring heat, and lastly, I recommended a friend to use one of their power supplies from Best Buy while his PSU was sent in for warranty...and it fried most of his components.
P.S. I gave one of my sons one of the last remaining Riing fans to use as a makeshift fidget spinner.

I can explain this. Back when they only did fans during the 32bit cpu era they were good....but they steadily got more crap. Lots have beaten them for over 10 years but they just don't lower their prices.

That Threadripper box is a PITA. Mine literally wouldn't come apart - the twistie knob thingie had got stuck - probably during shipping. I had to apply so much torque to it to get it open that the plastic shattered and the entire box fell apart and the CPU fell out. So I feel your pain on the unboxing.

Everyone grieves different when a love one passes away, I only took a day off work for the funeral when my father passed away, and same for when my step father passed away, as they where both hard workers, and would have done the same if it was me, so you have no right to tell Jay what to do on this.

Luuk Breedveld In the past they copied a case made by caselabs and caselabs made an annoyed statement on facebook (not really noteworthy). But thermaltake threatened to sue caselabs for slander which caselabs couldn't afford and they forced caselabs to revoke the statement from facebook AND publicly apologize in writing. Which meant thermaltake's lawyers writing a statement that caselabs had to sign. For the record caselabs is a familygrown company that builds their cases by hand. They do not have massive mass production income to spend on a team of lawyers.
Since then whenever Jay is approached by thermaltake to receive their product, he states he boycotts any thermaltake products until they publicly apologize in writing for what they did to caselabs.

Space Forge TT copied some of the Fractal Designs cases as well as another companies(can't recall the name) and then had the audacity to try to sue that company. Blatantly stealing another companies designs and then sueing them is a bit of a dick move.

If they had patents then the us companies either have to pay royalties or they don't make the stuff but if they go ahead.

DJEthizzz Just what I thought, I don't care if you boycott something or don't need it or anything but a little more respect wouldn't hurt. Maybe a giveaway or even just gifting it to friends or neighbours or something. I know I've just spent over 1200CHF/USD on a build and will soend around another 200+ just for the pc itself but my parts even would be nothing compared to those he just threw away.

as someone who used to build 10-20 systems a day trust me you start to see all parts the same just chunks of metal that going into brackets.. different chunks click in differently.. on occasion you get a super high end one and you spend more time looking at all the ins and out s of the bios tweaks etc but its still not SUPER exciting
if you think Jay handled them roughly, go see how the 20-30 UPS/USPS employees are handling your shit before it gets to you.

Thermaltake have been shit for over 10 years.
I know that much, I just was not aware of J2C boycott. Some perspective would help. A boycott would obviously not be due to the hardware just being bad, there must be history there mr troll.
Abyss' end the main thing is that thermalake has gotten worse in terms of their quality and reliability. and the fact that there are cheaper and better options out there. I've also never oberserved a real "price drop" (in my experience/perception) on their products. They probably have gotten better, but I'm more willing to give my money to fractal design/EVGA because they are more reliable.
Please see Jay's answer further down in comments. There is a reason for the boycott indeed as expected.

After 15 years of AMD builds I went with an 8700k build a few days ago. I do not regret my decision to go Intel at all, but I'm quite impressed with what I've been seeing about the threadripper!
