How I Got PASTEL Hair (From Dark Hair)

- New hair (again). Oops. No more new hair for a while because now I'm broke, lol.
ALSO , I know this cut isn't actually considered "short" (it's more medium length), but it's short to me because I've always had long hair which I felt attached to (as I discussed in the video). And we ending up cutting off 5-6 inches off (he cut it again after the bleaching sessions). Everyone has different attachments to things about themselves that make them feel secure - mine just happened to be my hair at the time.

i dont understand the stress about it, i had 2 feet of hair and donated a whole foot. this was only 3 inches it wasn't even that drastic of a change in length.

Reading all these comments about how it's not "short" is really annoying. If any of you would've read the DESCRIPTION BOX you would understand in better depth about how she felt. I'm pretty sure we've all been there, whether the stylist cut 1 inch or 12 inches it will feel short to any of us.

+Areli Z Read the description box. Most the others probably did too. But that doesn't magically make short equal long. Short is short, like pixie. Medium is like shoulder length, and long is what she has. And its still plenty to hide behind. 4 inches is nothing. To anyone who knows about hair and even those who don't, its a pretty obvious thing. That's why there are so many annoyed comments. Calling it short, or even medium, just sounds like complaining TBH.

misuzu437 Getting "annoyed" at what someone's perspective in regards to length of hair is a pretty petty thing to be annoyed with, lol. Like I said multiple times, it's just personal perspective and opinion - I am not offending anyone by saying that my hair feels short to me - what's there to be annoyed at? Do you get annoyed at someone who looks at an indigo colour and sees it as purple while you see it as blue? If you're getting annoyed at what length someone thinks their hair is, you need to divert your emotions somewhere more significant.

Hi, Katie I had 80 cm long hair, which was down to my butt. I cut it off to about an inch below my shoulders and I now love it more... Especially considering my hair was over 6 inches thick, I had it thinned and I was not even upset the tiniest bit. I guess people deal with it differently.

Even though it not much shorter it feels like you cut off a lot. I remember last week I had my hair barley reach my butt and now it's at the top of my hip and when I saw it I was a little sad because even though it was like 3 inches it felt like I cut 10 inches.
When I was about 12 my hair was waist length and I got it cut into a short bob, omg it was so DIFFERENT and it felt so weird, but now I CAN'T STOP CUTTING MY HAIR!!!!!!!!

me right now. i let my hair grow up to my hips or longer for ages then one day, I decided to let my dad-- yes my dad-- to chop 2 inches of it. guess what, HE CHOPPED ALMOST HALF OF MY HAIR AND I WAS DEVASTATED WHEN I SAW THE HUGE CHUNK OF MY HAIR ON THE FLOOR. But when I saw myself in the mirror, I look kinda cute. My head felt lighter and a lot cooler.

The color and length look great but honestly...it was only 3 inches, its not that much shorter
i know it's considered medium length, but i perceive it as short because i've had long hair all my life. the initial cut was 3-4 inches off, but once he did the final shaping/cut after the bleach, it took off a total of 5-6 inches, which is quite a bit - that's why it seems very short to me :)
I went from really long hair to shoulder length. Cut off over 10 inches of hair. Which is a lot... But I think any length of hair being cut off is depressing :( I feel you girl

Aww, it looks really good on you, honestly. :) It will all grow back in soon times, but in the mean time enjoy the length as a new experience! But funny enough, your length now is currently the length I have, maybe mine's an inch longer but, that's the longest my hair has ever been, so to me this is long! I usually have my hair shorter. o:

Jay Elle i'm glad you can relate! some people find it silly that people are attached to their hair, but it's just like anything else that someone could personally be attached to. but i'm glad you embraced it - i hope i will be able to as well! :)
I've drastically cut my hair in the past, went from waist length to jaw length. Then I let it grow back out for years.
One day I woke up, and didn't want my long hair anymore and I didn't want to be a brunette (I'd never dyed my hair before). Gave myself this super super short cut and just dyed my hair blonde. I actually liked the red/brassy look, my hair didn't streak it was just all this uniform golden orange.
But now. Bored with it and want something different. And your lilac is BEAUTIFUL

I had hair to my buttcrack for my entire life up until ~6 months ago when I cut it to shoulder length. I LOVE it. I always thought I would be emotional, but that wasn't the case at all and I was so happy with the result!

this is the most beautiful color ive ever seen! im trying to get a color like that, i bleached it once and my once dark hair is yellow at the roots and light orange at the ends... gonna bleach it again tomorrow then tone! :)

why did you left your dark roots?
Ekaty i like the blended rooty look - very in now :) plus it's waaaay lower maintenance this way. you usually have to go in every month to touch up bleached hair, but i haven't been in for over two months and it still looks nicely blended! :)

Ekaty plus much healthier for your hair. I love the root look being in so if I ever get my hair bleached and the hair dresser mucks it up, it will grow back, I'm thankful ha.

JeyTang thanks girl! i actually didn't bleach it completely to the roots. we left a bit of a blended rooty look so that i don't have to commit to touch-ups as often :) so it depends on how much root i want to leave (i like about an inch of root showing).

When I had white hair, I had to cut off 9 inches of my hair and let meee tell you, having pastel and platinum hair is such a mental change. I've wanted this color for so long but my mom is adamantly against unnatural hair colors. I think I'm wearing her down, though! Hopefully I can do it this summer! I love the blended root look, it seems very low maintenance. I don't think I could afford blended roots, though. :3

+Laura Vicente I don't think it's fair to say that girls with long hair are "hiding behind a girly style." There are many reasons why someone would prefer long hair over short other than being afraid of what people think. Coming from someone who had a pixie-cut for a while, I personally like having long hair better because I don't have to get it trimmed as often.

Did they bleach your roots? Is it supposed to be darker? Looks really good like that!
Renee L yes, it's supposed to be darker at the roots and blended into the lighter color :) we left about 1 inch of my natural roots that he blended with a darker lilac on top. i like the rooty look, and it's also a lot easier to manage when you don't have to commit to touch-ups so often! and thank you :)
