Welcome to my NON MasterClass for beginner break makers like myself! Today I'm showing how to make this simple instant yeast white bread for sandwiches and a bonus recipe....a brown sugar swirl bread. I'm going to explain how to freeze part of the dough for baking later, and I'll also show what I've found to be the best way for storing fresh homemade bread.
I know that I'll be asked about a few things I've used in this video, so I will link them here for you:

Your bread looks great, stop putting yourself down , don't worry about other peoples comments , you did a great job .
Very good can you please send me the recipe

Looking delicious! Tip: if you Measure the oli first, the honey will drop off the measuring cup so easy!
Thank you for this tip!!
I love the parchment paper handles.
Can you use sugar instead of honey? If so how much?
❤
@@marilynheywood7699yes, Lisa says so right in the video. She uses 4 Tbsp honey (for 2 loaves), so 2 Tbsp of sugar would make it plenty sweet. It feeds the yeast..not that you have to use any. The yeast will still grow. So use however much you want. 1 tsp per loaf will feed the yeast.
Bread has been made for generations in all cultures in so many different ways, there is no “one right way” …if it comes out to your liking, it’s a right way. You do you.
USEFUL TIP: save your butter wrappers to use for greasing pans. ❤
Good idea, fold them, put them in a ziplock freezer bag and freeze them I like that idea.
Very old tip! Did this over 50 years ago!
Duh!!! A great tip!!!
me too@@sandrabeck8788
You know your stuff, Lisa! Don’t apologize, you’re a great bread maker!!❤️
Your bread looks DELICIOUS!!! And, I love how you used oil on your board instead of adding all that extra flour to your bread. 💡BRILLIANT IDEA!!!💡
Ready to try it. Thanks
Going to try your recipe. Looks delicious. Love your laugh.
I got a tip on one site that said if making cinnamon bread use a beatin egg instead of butter for brushing on keeps bread swirls from separating. It worked for me ❤😊
Water works too for preventing separation of layers.
Be encouraged. Your video was very well done. Even though I have some favorite bread recipes, I am always up for a new one. I am going to try your recipe. Just a tip I have learned is to mix all of my dry ingredients at the same time. When you are not proofing your yeast, salt will not kill your instant yeast. Keep up the good work and be blesses.
I love your outlook on baking bread! I'm 61 and have been baking bread since I had to stand on a chair & Momma had her hands on the outside of the dough with mine on the inside! The biggest mistakes are being afraid to try and over-complicating it. We all find our like and dislikes and the styles that work best for us. But that is the beauty of finding the joy in baking.
well said
@@miriambryant6975 Thank you. Cooking & baking is truly a timeless blessing to share with others!
same I'm Portuguese and we been making bread for long time, I remember my mom going to the bakery and buy Yeast, we didn't have instant or rapid fast Yeast, I enjoy your video very. much,,
I've been making bread for since 1968 so I'm a pretty seasoned bread maker. I did enjoy watching your video though. And I learned something new from you though. I've never frozen dough though. And because you explained it so well as to how it is done I think that I'll give it a try. And you explained everything so well how to make and bake bread that any beginner should be able to do it. I'm so sorry that your shoulder is giving you trouble. Just don't overwork it and soon it should be as good as new. Have a great day.
Hope you didn't take the vaxine! My sister-in-law has had nothing but trouble and pain in her shoulder ever since she took the vax! ❤
@patriot1952-os6mh there are two million dead people who didn't get the vaccine. I bet they wish they only had shoulder trouble.
I am five times vaxxed no shoulder troubles.
Please stop pushing propaganda. Covid vaccines save lives.
@patriot1952-os6mh I've had 2 Pfizer vaccines and haven't had any trouble with my shoulder. My arm was sore for a few days each time. Also I did get covid twice from my granddaughter. Both times I didn't have any symptoms except a little tired. I really think I didn't get too sick because of the vaccines. I live with my daughter and granddaughter, so with her going to school and getting covid I naturally caught it from her.
@@DonnaKohl458it's just the flu. CDC changed their opinion on this again. You're good.
For someone that Denys being an expert, you seem to have it pretty well mastered. Nice Job! Thanks for the video
I worked in a bakery...did it all. You got it together. Our proofing method (for rising the dough) is slightly different.
I'm only suggesting this as a possibility to decrease distortion. We'd make the dough, grease lg sheet and put it in a proof. Basically you did that by putting in oven with mug of water. After allowing to double in size, we'd fold it into itself and let rise again. Watch closely didn't want to over proof it,bc it had to get worked again later. At this point dough would get dumped to butcher block, the dough would get cut and weighted to a specific amount for each loaf. I think 18 oz. maybe suited to your pan size. Once dough was cut it would get formed tightly in a ball, set to rise again but on the butcher block and covered with a towel. It was left to rise again , just slightly by poke of finger test. At that point it would get worked through a sheeter. But using a rolling pin is the same. You want it thin, and you try to keep it long like you did in the video and narrow to the width of your pan. Then you roll, but start with a small roll over and keep rolling to end. Flip over, pinch seam , and tuck ends under. Then place in your greased pan, seam down. Let it rise again like you did. Then bake.
Any left over white dough can get cut into 2 oz. pieces, make into a ball, put into a sq pan shape, for dinner rolls.
Or add shredded cheddar cheese,( start with 4-6 oz, then adjust) at the end of make your dough for cheesy bread.
Also using 3 oz of dough, shape into a log shape, brush with melted butter and sprinkle crazy salt on them.
4oz. of bread dough is the size to make individual breads. Have fun. You do well.
Love the parchment handles! Perfect!
What is the reason to let it rise again?
We need more content that shows how easy it is and the benefits of taking the time to make it. We need to bring back the pro and cons list to all things homestead. Thank you for sharing and I pray we continue to teach what schools no longer find important.
Looks great! Will try it soon 😍
I made this tonight 1-27-24. Did exactly how you did. My gosh sooooo delicious. Only thing for the cinnamon bread will add more cinnamon. Love love it.. have tried so many recipes and yours is the best
That's so awesome!!!
Bread flour makes a slightly denser and chewy bread, but there is almost no difference. Buy whichever is cheaper. 😁 If you don’t have time to mix, raise and bake the bread in one evening, you can mix and knead your bread, then put it in a greased gallon size ziplock bag in the fridge overnight. When you have time, get the bread out of the fridge, shape it and put it in the greased pans. Let it rise (it might take a little longer) then cook as usual. I never add salt to my bread because I’m on a low-salt diet. Salt doesn’t make much difference for the home bread maker, more for the industrial bakery that use dough conditioners and big proofing ovens. You did a great job, Lisa! The only thing I would add is if you let the machine do the kneading, set the speed to low. ❤ From a long-time homemade bread baker. I enjoy cooking videos as much as quilting videos!
What is instant yest? Is it dry yeast?
@carinadouah1951 to me yes, lolol just and instant mix for dry flour.
That was very well done. I went to work one day and my husband made bread for the first time, it was water bread. I was so pleased, it turned out well.
@@carinadouah1951yes, it’s dry yeast that doesn’t need to be proofed. It’s all I will use for no knead, bread machine, etc.
This was fun to watch for a person who has never made bread! Thank you
February 4 2024 Maryland USA: So love your cute opening that I raised my hand also. You are so delighful and so appreciative of the pointers and storing. Agree with the cost. Downsize. Really I do not think this is a problem.
I haven’t made bread in years. When I did make bread and I needed to put it in a warm place I put a towel on my heating pad on low. Worked like a dream you may have urged me to try bread again.
That’s an excellent idea!
Does work well...
Does the towel and heating pad go over the rising bread or under?
It turned out great. I’ve struggled with bread before. Sometimes it turns out and sometimes it doesn’t. I think your method is foolproof. I had 2 beautiful loaves and shared one with my neighbors.
Way to go, Lisa! Your bread looks great. Don’t apologize, you’re doing GREAT! I’ve been baking for 60+ years and, in MHO, you’re right on target. A quick light spritz of water as pans go into preheated oven will give you Oven Spring. TFS your bread-making journey with us. It’s lots of fun, right? And a tasty healthy journey it is!
Great job!. You're doing very well. I've been baking bread for many years, about 65.... There is nothing like homemade bread.
Lisa, in your chat on Friday, 19th, you brought up the bread...your cinnamon-swirl loaf. Ive had that same thing happen, as well. Ive never done a video😆 but sometimes when the loaf is for a gift, one really wants it to look pretty, right?! So im learning to ask our heavenly Father even for small things, such as that. Proverbs 3:5,6 comes to mind.
He always cares about us, & it's been a joy to notice that even more in my older years.
I know it was deelish! I've loved making our bread, & am so happy you're enjoying it, too.❤
I started making bread when the pandemic started. I watched many videos of how to do it. Overnight methods at first. I did start out using honey but changed it to molasses for more flavor. Plus half whole wheat flour and half bread flour. Marion
Hello Lisa, great bread making video. Your step-by-step directions where very easy to follow. And the remainder of the process seemed easy enough also. The only part with being a UA-cam observer is, I sure wish I could have a piece of that bread 😋
Looking forward to your next video. Great job 👍
If it turns out delicious and your happy with it, then it’s the right way to
This recipe looks wonderful! Your use of oil on the work surface rather than flour is a great idea!!!
Lisa… I tried so many different ways to make bread.. and I have to tell you, this is by far the best, the easiest I ever made… it looks perfect like yours though my cinnamon bread didn’t twist on me like yours did.. lol thank you so so much for showing us how you do your bread… I think the trick for me is that you used oil on your surface instead of flour… Again a big thank you for sharing with us… 10 out of 10 in my book…
Hi LIsa! This is the first of your videos that I've watched. I am a new subscriber n ow! I've watched the Kneady Homesteader for a year or so. She makes Lots of different Breads. She said to Never run your mixer above speed 2 when making your bread. I learned how to make bread from her. You are so nice!
For how many minutes on speed 2?
@@delladearest2511 5 or 10 I do it for 5.
Thanks for sharing your recipe and technique. I make a no knead crusty bread and love it, but your soft white bread looks delicious. I am going to try out both the white and cinnamon brown sugar breads. You are so cute and kind. Love your videos.
Where did you get the bread 🍞 cutter ?? And the bread box?????😅
@@kathleenlacey6275I've seen them on Amazon.
I sprinkle my yeast over the honey and water and allow the yeast to “bloom” and the bread rises much faster. I also love to quilt! I am glad I found your channel.
We make cinnamon rolls 2 to 3xs a week and homemade pizza every so often, love working with yeast.
I have that same slicing guide and I bought a small cutting board from the dollar tree and it fits right inside the width of the slicer and it keeps you from cutting splinters into the bottom of the slicer. Or buy a set of the cutting mats and cut it down to size. Your bread looks wonderful.
i will try this dollar tree idea on my wood slicer, thanks for sharing

This is a great recipe. Can't wait to try it. You move at the perfect pace on your videos. Thank you for all you do.
Rising in the Microwave. You are so sweet to listen to on your bread-making journey. Will let you know how it turns out.
Yes I just started her recipe for sandwich bread. Using all her tips. 😊
The parchment paper tip is a game changer!
OMGosh Lisa ! This is the best bread I have ever made. Fantastic recipe and so easy. I am a novice at bread making and have struggled to find a recipe that I like. I have found it now !! Thank you so much for sharing.
Oh looks so yummy I had to stop making it because that is all I would eat all day long 😊
I love homemade bread! Yum! I have friends who bake bread & I made them 100% linen bread bags for Christmas!
What a great gift!
Thanks very much for sharing your recipe and demonstration. I followed your exact directions and had excellent results. I’ve made it 2 times and also made your cinnamon bread. Great recipe! Thank you.
Hi Lisa
I make bread a lot. I use a bread maker, but just let it make the dough, then I always take it out and shape and rise in the oven, then bake it. So much better than baking in the bread machine, but it’s nice to let the machine do all the work for you.
Home made Bread is the best.
You are a joy to watch, I really enjoy your videos
Sending big hugs ❤❤😊
I do this, too. My dear sister-in-law gave me her bread machine when she moved to assisted living. The bread machine helps with my arthritic hands!!! So easy to make the dough, then form, rise the second time, and bake❤️😎
So I have a question then… Does the bread taste different based on where you bake it? Like does it taste better because it’s baked in an oven or like Lisa did in an air fryer or like I have thought about getting a bread machine because it does all the work, then bakes it. So you let the bread machine do all the work and then you take it out of the machine and bake it it in another machine? I’m just wondering if a traditional oven changes the flavor? Sorry if this question sounds dumb. I’m just a beginner and want to understand and get the best flavor.😂😂😂
@@jmeyer81971
I know that you get a much bigger loaf letting it rise in the oven, also you don’t get the hole in the bottom of your bread where the blade is for mixing. I also believe you get a bit thicker crust baked in the machine as well. Rising and baked in the oven will be a lighter bread better it has more room for rising. I would say tastes better in the oven. I hope this helps 😊
@jmeyer81971 Lisa did it in the ninja OVEN setting 350* it's an oven setting not an air fryer. Hope that clears it up for you ❤
You did it! You made your first culinary video! Great instructions, too. I’m sure this is just the beginning of more videos to come. Bon appetit!
My aunt was know far and wide for her homemade cinnamon rolls. I laughed when you said “not much butter”, because she like my hubby says “butter is our friend and you can never have too much!” lol. That bread looks awesome!
“Throw back Lisa “! I love the video! So reminiscent of your early videos with sweet wiggle fingers!!😍😍. Thank you for sharing!
I set out to make your bread this afternoon and discovered my yeast supply needed replenishing. I loved the udea of proofing in your microwave with a cup of hot water. This frees your oven for quick transfer when the loaf pans have risen to a desirable height. Cant wait to try this. Thanks Lisa.
Your bread look so delicious😮 and the cinnamon too i will try this one i made sandwich bread today your bread is Tiguidou from Montréal Canada 🎉
I love the way you teach! Please dint worry about what others think.
I can't wait to try this. This is the first bread recipe. I actually want to make and I have watched a lot of them!❤
I have the same Ninja oven and love it! The parchment trick is a genius idea. I’m going to try it.
I have been looking for an easier bread recipe, I will be trying this. Thank you for making & sharing. Blessings Always
Excellent Lisa explanations were spot on. I made bread a few times in a bread machine, but the machine did it all. I love this way. One day I'll try it.
Thanks so much Lisa! I am going to make sandwich, bread and brown sugar, cinnamon loaf bread this weekend, and I will let you know how it turned out, I’m so excited. Thank you so much for this tutorial and of course you always have awesome tips to share. apparently your skills are not just “quilting related lol
I think you’re just as much of an expert as any of the rest of us. I made bread with my mom since I was a kid and to me she was an expert.
I'm new, I liked this bread alot especially the cinnamon one, I love that with my coffee in the morning, thanks for showing us this recipe 😊❤
Hello Lisa, I've come across your channel and am quite delighted to have found you. I've been making bread for 30 odd years and I love the tips that you gave us. This is basically an identical bread recipe/formula, if you will, that I’ve made for years and years but with freshly ground whole wheat flour and 3x the recipe. I mix and knead it in my wonderful Bosch Mixer.
