I've never heard if the dark web until I saw a animated horrors episode about it. I can't believe those running the site can get away since everything on the internet is traceable. My guess is that they pick off homeless, prostitutes, or runaways as their victims since those people go largely unnoticed by society when they go missing. It makes me shudder to think about it

The more "defense you put up the more supiusious you get. It's just like real life where a robber sees a fancy safe and he makes the inference that something interesting is in it. It works the same way with FBI.
Just don't do anything illegal and you'll be fine. I haven't spent an extended amount of time on the dark web, but I've been there a couple times just to check it out. That was years ago though so who knows how much it's changed since then.
it's actually not illegal to visit the Dark Web, it's only illegal to purchase or do actual illegal things on there. Just browsing is fine. The only thing I'd watch out for is hackers. Either way though, I don't see much use to actually going to the Dark Web. I tried it once or twice out of curiousity and it's awfully slow and since I have no intention to buy anything on there, it's a huge waste of time. You might as well watch a youtube video of someone exploring it if you are curious enough.
Sometimes they also arrest a drug dealer, they find his PC at home, they see he sells on darknet, they find all names and adresses of clients because he was too lazy to delete everything... Also there are some guys who run business on darknet but they give infos to fbi to have some protection and not be arrested. 90% of market places owners are arrested and go in jail, the other 10% do an exit scam (they keep all the money on clients/sellers account)
The problem about discussing on the web about how to more securely use the darknet is that it can make you a target. The government can beef up their monitoring of you without you knowing.
3:05 is somewhat common. I've had a friend of a friend order something possibly illegal and it turned out the vendor was arrested and cops took over his account for a short period.
