I saw Styx and REO Speedwagon at the old Pittsburgh Civic Arena. I'm going to age myself, but the best concert. I was so very lucky that my Daddy loved him and wanted to go to the concert, I was 8 years old. But I remember every last minute of the Elvis concert. My bubble was burst when it came over the speakers, announcing Elvis had left the building.
I saw styx in 1997, 1998, 2002, 2005,2010,2015 and in 2021. All great shows. Even with lawrence Gowan as lead, I do miss Dinnis Deyoug, but times do change and he had his reasons for leaving
Truly would pay any amount to be able to live in these days. as an early 90s baby, I knew I was always too late for my time. This is where my soul belongs.
Where the heck did 41 years go? I was going into my senior year of high school in 1983, it seems like no time at all - we're still here! Who'd a thunk?!?
Shaw was waay underrated considering his massive talent. Glad decades later he finally got known to a new audience from " Supernatural" and TV shows( i.e.Ozark). Check out his first solo LP post-Styx, " Girls With Guns" had 2 hits off that in '85. Still touring with Styx.
I just happen to be watching the episode of Supernatural where that song is part of the soundtrack and I just happened to end up here. I'm part of a music circle and this song will be one that we'll cover.
So funny you mention “ Supernatural”. I just watched an episode 2 minutes ago with the boys escaping while this song plays 😂 Wanted to see a live performance!
I love the animation in the band. They seem to be really enjoying this so much. It's also funny to hear the girls screaming for Tommy Shaw, whom I never even would have pegged as a Heartthrob. So enjoyable!

Tommy Shaw and JY (James Young) usually traded off leads depending on who wrote the song. As I mentioned earlier, JY asked Tommy if he could play lead on this one. I know Tommy played lead on one of JY's songs but can't recall which one. My favorite Tommy Shaw song is "Crystal Ball", his first contribution to Styx. I think one of the best album was "Equinox", recorded right before Tommy Shaw joined the band. Give that album a listen sometime.
I didn't know this. I've always loved the songs I thought were all Tommy, but I could never stand that keyboard player. To me his voice was so shrill and whiny, not a fit with the rest at all. That's just me, though. Sort of like Hall and Oates, loved their voices, but hated their songs LOL
I loved this song when it came out, when it was in Supernatural, my son loves it and (this will sound crazy) our bunny loves it. She loafs, closes her eyes, her ears go up and she chatters her teeth to show contentment, happiness and that she likes it.
I was able to see them during the Kilroy Was Here tour with the original lineup and it was incredible. I would love to see the remaining members reunite for a final tour....

To think Tommy started this song on piano is mind-blowing!
And at 70 yrs old he can still give it his 110% in performance & Singing voice!!!! Just Spectacular!!!! 🤣🤣💓💓👍
And was to be an acoustic number until Dennis suggested playing the riff on electric guitar and the rest as they say was history.
This song was literally written by Tommy Shaw & produced by Dennis DeYoung!

Special effects, all good and Raw Work
Ya they didn't use distortion lol. Ur dumb

WTF Why aren’t they ??
Rock & Roll Hall OF Fame doesn't really know Rock & Roll, these guys are rock & roll for fuck sake. Shame on you RRHF!!!!@@mfjosh6422
They should definitely be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame they’re one of the all many time great rock bands
Luv this band, rrhf, dolly Parton????I rst my case
??????? really ? i thought they were in already?
I just came back from a Styx concert just 30 minutes ago in Phoenix
43 years later, he still sounds great singing this
MAN THESE WERE THE TIMES!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
THE BEST OF TIMES!
I’ve been a Styx fan since the 70s and I never knew that David Spade was the lead singer. True story.😂
That title goes to either Tommy shaw who's leading this
Or Dennis Deyoung
Does look like him😂
Think it goes...Tommy Spade...
OMG, I'm dying! 😂😂😂
Hilarious. D. Deyong does look very much like D. Spade. Good one!
Shaw sure could run around the stage in 83
But he can still rock in 2023
He is now using pre-recorded tapes like his buddy Roger Waters.
I was so astounded when I watched this for the first time cause I’ve never heard such good and stable live vocals!
I saw Styx, REO Speedwagon, and Journey-90 minutes each, at Pittsburgh’s old Civic Arena, all in the same night!!

My Beloved Steelers Play this AWESOME Song From This AWESOME GROUP, at The Beginning of The 4th Quarter, during Every HOME GAME!!!
The highlight of every Steeler’s game.
This is one of those rare songs, that when you hear the opening chords, you KNOW what song it is!
In this case, it's the opening vocals.
True, opens with the vocal. The driving instrumentation plays along in my head all these years later since it played on our car radios... 📻

Just go see one of the hundreds of regional cover bands who replicate the greats perfectly
Love it how they stuck this in at the back end of Ozark.
Was in Umbrella Academy too
Watching that episode as we speak 😎

What a masterpiece
Absolutely ❤
Loved this since it came out. Maybe their best song.
My favorite Styx song!!❤
I was lucky enough to see Styx in concert several times in the late 70's and early 1980's! One of my favorites, Queen too
Tommy is so good STILL
Listen to amazing Maestro John Panozzo on those drums!!
Tommy Shaw…… effortlessly pumps out vocals like the Gods designed his larynx better than everyone else’s lol!
very under rated band Styx were.
emmm, fine musicians they are Yoda...
Kansas as well
Yes,sir I saw them inDenver this last year for the 13th time,Ive seen alot of shows but noone is better@@!
They don’t make music like this anymore.
Absolutely amazing band back in the 80s'
My #1 back in the day.
But the concert was filmed in 1983 and released on CD in 1984 and on DVD in 2007.
This music should come back....there was a lot of musical talent...like!! to this video...

@@ingloriousbetch4302, I think he is cute and has become a handsome mature man. I'd say he is better looking now.
Tommy was THE heart throb of the band. No doubt. And most of the other guys in the band were glad to let him have it.
If you’re not having fun, the audience won’t either.
His musicality is sexy as hell
This is What Rock and Roll is all about.
Tommy is certainly easy on the eyes as he on on my ears.
What a fucking band!!!
Also, I love UA-cam for 'randomly' dropping gems like this on me.
One of the best live bands you'll ever see. Don't pass on the chance...
Styx they stood at the beginning of soul music and will remain so. There will be no others.
Tommy Shaw is one talented Mother Huncher! So cool seeing him back in his 20s !!! God I Love You Tube!
Just what every rock anthem needs. Audience clapping along. 😔
Styx - Renegade Lyrics:
Oh Mama, I'm in fear for my life
from the long arm of the law
Lawman has put an end to my running
and I'm so far from my home
Oh Mama, I can hear you a-cryin'
you're so scared and all alone
Hangman is comin' down from the gallows
And I don't have very long (yeah!)
The jig is up, the news is out
They finally found me
The renegade who had it made
Retrieved for a bounty
Nevermore to go astray
This'll be the end today of the wanted man
Oh Mama, I've been years on the lam
and had a high price on my head
Lawman said, "Get him dead or alive"
I was for sure he'll see me dead
Dear Mama, I can hear you a-cryin'
you're so scared and all alone
Hangman is comin' down from the gallows
and I don't have very long
The jig is up, the news is out
They finally found me
The renegade who had it made
Retrieved for a bounty
Nevermore to go astray
The judge will have revenge today
On the wanted man
Oh Mama, I'm in fear for my life
from the long arm of the law
Hangman is comin' down from the gallows
and I don't have very long
The jig is up, the news is out
They finally found me
The renegade who had it made
Retrieved for a bounty
Nevermore to go astray
This'll be the end today
Of the wanted man
The wanted man
And I don't wanna go
No, no
Mama, don't let 'em take me!
