And i felt like my deep soul wound after Tarja departure suddenly was healed in seconds....
Floor and Nightwish knew each other from the early 2000s when they toured together. When Tarja was removed from Nightwish, alot of fans were calling for Floor or Simone (epica) to take her place but Tuomas stated he wanted to take the vocals in a different direction. We don't vote in the core. Each member gets a pick, we go in alphabetical order. Every song from the core comes from one different Member each time. Going into the song, I fought with myself about which After Forever song to select. Did I want to please the masses with more often requested AF songs or did I want to get a great breakdown? Obviously I chose a great breakdown. I figured, in the end, that this album would be interesting to give you a selection from, as well as possibly be a vessel to share it to others with whom it might resonate (even though other albums by AF also have great themes). I had considered Sins of Idealism, as it seems to pretty much encompass the relationship between the mother, father and child (IMO), but I had really started thinking about the story told within Invisible Circles, the lyrical content within the songs and if one song could truly do it justice. In the end, I decided to pick this one and try to eventually go in order (whether or not I send the album for you to just listen to or go the fast pass route) because while it's not the dynamic I had in my life growing up, it was quite the opposite for me, it seems many people did or do. Honestly this album makes me more grateful for the parents I did have and somehow makes me miss them more, but still. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Excellent decision!! I really do hope they check out Sins if Idealism next and eventually the rest of the album. It's one of those albums one should listen front to back to take it all in. I can't believe they finally reacted to AF 😅
The lyrics are from the perspective of the daughter, now grown up. She ended up making the same mistakes they did and chose to come back to her old home and murdered them both. That is why she says she is finally released. The album is a trip, because the first song is the alternate ending. By the way all After Forever lyrics (minus a some from first two albums) were written by Floor herself, not like Nightwish where Tuomas does.
After forever fell apart in 2009. She immediately started a new band called Revamp, but because she was desperately determined to make it a success it burnt her out, resulting in a year of illnes. Floor had just recovered from her burn-out when Nightwish called her. She joined Nightwish in 2012, became an official member in 2013. Nightwish and Floor have known each other and were even friends since 2002 when After Forever toured Europe with Nightwish as their support act. Some rumours say that Nightwish already wanted her in 2005 when Tarja left, but they did not want to be responsible for the end of After Forever. I don’t know whether that’s true, but it makes sense, especially considering that AF was doing very well at the time. Oh hey me again! Floor and Nightwish go way back when After Forever opened for them in an early 2000s European tour. In fact, Marco sang in an After Forever song called "Face Your Demons". The media and metal scene speculated about every single female vocalist in metal before Nightwish announced Annette as their new singer. Floor said over and over again she would never leave After Forever when asked if she was interested in that position. AF was her baby, her band, her soul and existence, and the reason why I insist in so many reaction videos, that if you're a Floor fan, you should really listen to this band. They were a staple in the gothic metal/symphonic metal scene. Still are! But they're not Nightwish. They're darker and heavier. Cannot recommend them enough. Vin, Sory agghh please fix the audio thing in your videos!! This is slowed down and tuned down and doesn't make the song justice. I think they will make us shut our mouths with the new album tbh. All the reviews I've read set the bar pretty high. Hopefully they get a little more of the 'edge' that they sometimes lack. @@FutileGrief Exactly. Everything you said. Also, Floor doing _death growls_ on *ReVamp* - her own band that she had to abandon when she committed to *Nightwish.*
After Forever wasn't her band, she joined as a back up singer as another Jansen was their lead singer. No relation. When that guy left and created Epica, Floor became the new singer. But the band was really Xander's. Floor wrote mainly the lyrics, but Xander wrote the music. I believe they were dating at the time too, she was in this band since she was 16.
@@CavemanJesus4Life What on earth are you talking about. They were still teenagers forming the band. The fact that she came because they needed a vocalist is absolutely irrelevant. They weren't even called After Forever yet. That's what happens when someone decides to form a band. He searches for musicians. They become a band. They all contribute to what the band is. It's not a result of a single person. Not just Sander, not just Mark, not just Floor. When I say 'her band' I don't mean that she owned the band herself. I meant, as an artist, as a creator, your art becomes your baby. Not just about what you can write, but what you can perform. Floor imprinted herself in After Forever's legacy, and as such, in the gothic metal / symphonic metal scene forever. They were writing this kind of music before 'scene' even existed. That's a big deal. The band that took your formative years as a teenager and as an adult is a big deal. After Forever is her baby as well, just as a child has many parents. It's a part of her, that's what I meant. Not just the mundane definition of 'owning' something. The band wasn't just Sanders, omg. He managed the majority of the legal aspects of the band and it's because of him and his gigantic ego there is no band anymore.
They considered her even after Tarja left, but eventually didn't asked her. They didn't want to destroy the good relation they had with After Forever. After Anette left, the situation was very different as you can read in other comments.
Lyrics by Floor Jansen The album start with the end of the story. the girl's life has been a complete hell and she turned out the same as her parents so she brutally breaks the circle by murdering her parents. then you here the music of the entire album in reverse very fast. so the story rewinds and starts with the beginning now.
Floor at the peak of her power. I got a chance to see After Forever in 2008 and was an instant fan. I was heartbroken when I heard that they disbanded a year later. The reason AF disbanded was because their guitarist at the time got burn out and the band broke up shortly afterwards. It's ironic 'cause Floor would suffer from burn out a few years later while working with her new band ReVamp. Actually she broke up ReVamp to focus solely on Nightwish. Personally, I am not a fan of Invisible Circles, it's my least favorite album by them but that maybe because I got into them on their last album and was blown away by it. I read the critics savaged this album in their reviews but I don't go by what they say, I listen for myself and wasn't particularly impressed with it. There are a couple of good songs, great song actually but the whole spoken-word thing in between the songs illustrating the story I found to be quite cliche and annoying. With that said, the rest of their catalog is rock solid and I would put it up against anybody else's catalog. IMO, After Forever is one of the Big $ of Symphonic Metal along with Nightwish, Epica, and Within Temptation with the 4 greatest singers of the genre: Floor, Simone, Tarja, and Sharon.
Yeppppp. But, to be fair, there's hardly any quality live recordings available for this one. You either see a lot of mic issues with both Mark and Floor or sometimes even the sound is too muddy 😟
agreed..music is more intense and Floor sang in a monstrous classical/metallic blend...i love Tarja and the songs were mostly written to exhibit her superb mezzo operatic sound..and now Floor sounds very mainstream with a few very pleasant metallic deviations
Basically I did hope Nightwish would call Floor, back then when they sacked Tarja... But they took Annette and After Forever continued... Not for long. Anyway, Floor did overcome from her burnout and nervous breakdown... And was eventually called by nightwish later 😉
This band broke up before she got the call from Nightwish. One of the guitarists in this video, Mark Jansen, left this band and started the band EPICA with his brother. 😁 You need to do more Epica!!!!

As someone who's grown up with physically, emotionally and verbally abusive adoptive parents this song struck a deep and dark chord with me. I'm safe now but I struggle to function and maintain healthy adult relationships including romance because no one will love me when I can't love myself. I don't really have contact with the rest of my adoptive family because they don't believe my side of the story as my parents are very charismatic and are of good standing in our community, are so nice to everyone else and I kept quiet for so long out of fear of reciprocation and being a burden. Thankfully I managed to connect with some of my biological family who are so nice and loving to me but it's such a mindfuck going from such hateful treatment to such loving treatment so I'm now trying to unlearn all the horrible things I was told about myself as therapy has helped me realise I was gaslighted into thinking the treatment was normal and that I deserved it. And this was all very recent. I definitely understand what Floor is singing about when she talks of beautiful emptiness because no matter what my parents did to me I will always love them. Although I wished I didnt. And when she says when you're gone we all be released I feel anger rising and have fantasised about even killing them but I know that would be wrong and wouldn't bring peace. If I ever have kids I will break the cycle of abuse and I will love them hard but not be smothering or over protective. I will just make sure I never threaten them or hit them or wish them dead. Sorry for the rant and thanks for the reaction 😬
I'm so sorry... 😟💙 You definitely didn't deserve such treatment, and shame on them for treating you the way they did. I hope you find the light within yourself, start to love yourself AND find love. I know I'm a stranger on the internet, but I can see your pain and for whatever it's worth, I want to say that I love you ("agape") and hope the best for you. I will keep you in my prayers and thoughts. You're going to get through this, friend.
@@The_Pony They will never realise that the way they treated me was harmful, so I feel in this constant limbo of being confused and unsure.
Our Queen in dark mode...
They considered her even after Tarja left, but eventually didn't asked her. They didn't want to destroy the good relation they had with After Forever. After Anette left, the situation was very different as you can read in other comments.
Tuomas did not ask Floor because she sang in a classical/metallic blend he was soured on by his hatred of Tarja...

Moonspell - Night Eternal
Lyrics by Floor Jansen
The album start with the end of the story. the girl's life has been a complete hell and she turned out the same as her parents so she brutally breaks the circle by murdering her parents. then you here the music of the entire album in reverse very fast. so the story rewinds and starts with the beginning now.
Maybe I missed it already, but someone in the village needs to get Vin to hear Floor Fry-Scream.
Don't worry, I'm definitely Working on it 🙃

EPICA - Kingdom of heaven (Live)
Get well soon, Floor.🙏 And guys we need a Rammstein video soon. Till Lindeman is in intensive care right now.🤔🤔
Does anybody knows if Floor is ok or was it Corona? 🤪Last post I got she wrote that she was in quarantine with a fever.🙏🙏🙏🙏
At least two technical issues visible in this one. Floor's fan and Cookie Monster's mic, but ya gotta work through it.
They were really good.
Yeppppp. But, to be fair, there's hardly any quality live recordings available for this one. You either see a lot of mic issues with both Mark and Floor or sometimes even the sound is too muddy 😟
For me After Forever is way better than Nightwish. I also really like Revamp and I feel Floor her vocals are almost wasted on the Nightwish songs.
agreed..music is more intense and Floor sang in a monstrous classical/metallic blend...i love Tarja and the songs were mostly written to exhibit her superb mezzo operatic sound..and now Floor sounds very mainstream with a few very pleasant metallic deviations
This Sander Gommans growling in this performance.
@@johnsoma6485 OOOPPS! I stand corrected. Thank you for that. 😃
i have 6 kids and my partner and I play video games and watch tv shows and movies with the kids everyday so use aren't the only ones that hang out with your kids
You definitely didn't deserve such treatment, and shame on them for treating you the way they did.
But I think at the end of the day I was not deserving of being hit or being threatened with death etc. Thank you for your response, I deeply appreciate it. Hope you are staying safe within this time :)
@@joshy_bish sweetheart, no child deserves that.
Growing up in such a way cannot be easy either, especially now that you are older and understand more than you may have as a kid.
I wish I could reach through my device and give you a big, warm hug. As a mother myself, it breaks my heart when I hear things like this because, for the life of me, I can't fathom treating my beautiful daughter in such a way, nor can I begin to understand how anyone could.
I hope things get better for you. I really do.
And honestly, if you need to talk, seek me out on the Vin and Sori village page, I'm literally some variant of Pony on all my social media, including facebook. If not, Vin knows how to get you in contact with me outside of UA-cam...
You're welcome to Consider me a sister if you like. 🥰
@@The_Pony Sometimes I think I did deserve it but then I remind myself that I dont and that no one does. I definitely have a wider perspective of it now and I realise it was worse than I thought it was at the time because it was my normality but in actuality it really isnt normal to be constantly scared, worried and confused by the actions of your parents. It does warm my heart though to see comments like yours about your child because I know you love them deeply and will give them the best start in life. And that makes me happy =) That is kind of you to offer, thank you.

Floor was so intense in her former bands...always had that great classical.\metallic mix...she was recruited by Tuomas while in revamp, not AF..then he changed it all...pity
Vin got it so wrong. After Forever split up. Nothing to do with floor being in Nightwish. She was in a coupled bands in between.
There you guys are nice lighting good to see you. black shirts black background eh but this is better trust
Please do Satyricon - Phoenix
When that band dissolved, Mark went on to form Epica, and Floor, like some folks are saying here was left in limbo..So that's when she started Revamp...i think she was still with revamp when she got called by Tuomas....i might be wrong on this but....Anyone out there correct me if I am...
Mark left After Forever in 2002/03 to form Epica. After Forever disbanded in 2009. Then Floor startet Revamp, got the burnout and was still with Revamp when she was hired as singer for the rest of the Nightwish tour in 2012/13.
