Me too, and I am a 62-year-old woman with zero car experience. OK it took me a two tries to get it right. This video is super, super helpful. Thank you so much!
You're the ONLY person I have ever seen on UA-cam that doesn't, doesn't write instructions and and is so clear on what is being done - and with an excellent demonstration of what to look out for and how to do it!!!
I been trying to find a video like this with no luck until now. My car is a Toyota Vitz 2003 model it has the exact same fuel pump structure. Without this video I can not dismantle mine. Thanks for your great video!
I was looking for a video like this years back but no luck too. So we made it :D now there are tons of similar video, some were re-created based on this one.
Good video and mine is a 2002 Yaris (UK) and it's die a fuel filter but i'm not sure if i'll mess it up but this is will give me confidence.Would i disconnect the fuel pump and start the engine abit as in oanother video petrol burst out alot.
THANK YOU for posting this video - I got to the evaporator pipe connection and didn't want to force it, so checked the workshop manual and that was no help at all! The two-screwdriver trick plus slip joints looks like what I need to try. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
Hey man I'm at the same spot I read the clips need to push together than pulled off but it's not budging... But looks like he did the opposite with the 2 screwdrivers pushing them out 😵😵 lol I'm sitting here cursing an swearing lol let me try pushing out like you hope it works lol
Thanks. This helped me find the fuel pump location on my 91 Celica GT. Before it went down, I had filled up with about 10 gallons. So I pumped it all out, and filled my 91 Integra LS. Thanks for the video. Saved me almost 30 bux for an hours worth of work. Not bad!
I want to thank you for this video tutorial, but in my Celica VVt-i MY2000, under the glued cover, i found only a connector, not two. Also i had to remove from the old filter an oring, which fit into the float. The important thing is...before unmont the float, see and remember his position!
Jorge Vasconsellos what do you mean by pressurize? I think just close fuel cap and turn key to On, fuel pump will activate, fuel line is primed, pressure is created, from then just start. also, because the job is long and filter is suppose to last a long time (at least 80,000 miles), I'd go with Toyota genuine filter instead of a cheapo, peace of mind
I have a Yaris Verso 2001 which is basically same as Vitz or Echo. We tried to open inner lid but screws were so tight (rusted obviously) that we could not open them. The screws are rounded (phillips) with no sharp edges, not like hex screws. Do you have an advice how can we open the lid? Socket will work on that or will it possibly just slip?
I just did mine on my 2000 Celica. You can cheat a little and not remove the entire back seat, just the lower part. have someone hold it up or prop it up with something.
Hi! Thank you very much for posting this video. What you replaced there, was that the entire fuel pump? I'm not really car savvy yet but I hope I will be in the future! My 04 celica is pushing 150k miles right now and I'm under the impression that the fuel pump/filter has never been replaced. Do you think this is something i can do myself?
Thanks for the video, saved me big bucks. I lost that yellow retainer clip holding the feed line at 2:32! any idea where I can buy one or what is it called,

I got my friend to change the L shape Mesh called the fuel suction filter, and the pump and its not hesitating as much now. But still causes some misfire. When he took it off, we can see that the real fuel filter ( inside the plastic casing) was super dirty. so now we gotta find where purchase it. Hi, maybe you can help me. I recently changed the filter and from that moment the car has a hard time starting, do you know what the reason may be? Thanks
it could be that the filter must be full of gas so that the flow is constant or that you forgot to tighten one of the sensor connectors that the gas pump has
Hello everyone.i have a 2000 toyota celica gts automatic with 180,000 miles on it.im hearing a loud humming/whining sound coming from gas door/gas tank.Ive replaced everything but the suction valve(top part of assembly)could this be causing the noise?I also have high rpms while in idle and neutral 1700-2000 and an exahust leak.If anyone can help i would be grateful. Thanks in advance.

When did you change the inner filter? It only looked like you changed the pump housing. Here is a video on changing a filter attached to the pump ua-cam.com/video/eVV3kAwCSVA/v-deo.html
Thank you for pointing this out. It's an ID10T mistake. I changed the title and description hoping the video still be able to guide people to accessing the units (either the housing, filter or fuel pump they are replacing). Thank you again.

They make fuel line connection tools, don't use pliers and two flat heads like this, it can break the connection then you'll have to get new fuel lines.

I just ran my 2001 Toyota Celica GT almost all the way out of gas all the bars were gone it started to sputter I pulled it straight into a gas station shut it off filled it up and then after I started it I have an engine light and engine misfire please help
Your check engine light may have only come on to let you know that you ran out of fuel and your having a fuel flow problem now, now that you've refueled it if it's running fine it may go out on its own or you'll need to use a code reader and reset the check engine light to turn it off. but if sucked in a lot of dirt from the bottom of your tank and it's running really bad you'll need to replace the filter.
@@stevegardnermax I've done the spark plugs I did the coil packs the only thing left is the injectors and fuel pump in the fuel filter but if I change the fuel filter I also have to change the fuel pump correct or can I just change the fuel filter by itself and if so, do I still have to get inside the tank to change it
The same problems just started on my 02 Celica GT, random codes jumping everywhere lean bank, misfires, 02 sensor, throttle position sensor, fuel injection.. so I replaced the plugs, bought some new $30.00 eBay fuel injectors and a $25.00 fuel filter, it turned out to be the fuel filter in my case also. What the other part called that he took off the top of the housing? The part that has the fuel pressure regulator in it.
Did you ever figure this out? Cause I think I need that part and can't find it
Just an FYI, you don't have to remove the back of the back seats. You just have to lift up on the bottom of the lower seat.
+Hunter Byington yeah and the smell of gasoline can accompany you for some time in case you drop some on the seats while removing it ;)

You must have rolled the O-ring inside the fuel line connector that gets clipped in with the yellow look key.

Your car still cranked to long.. you need to check your coils, spark plugs and/or fuel injectors.
The first start will take a little longer because the pump needs to draw fuel through the new dry filter.
They make fuel line connection tools, don't use pliers and two flat heads like this, it can break the connection then you'll have to get new fuel lines.
We should all send the job to dealerships for proper repairs.
