This brings back awesome memories of Le Mans 1995, when Justin drove the yellow Harrod's GTR to 3rd place overall

Not an F1 car, Prototype class
TheRussianJuice actually although it achieved overall victory in the 1995 Le Mans, the McLaren F1 GTR was not in the prototype class (LMP) it was on the GT1 class. This fact make its victory even more crazier since it manage to beat all but 1 LMP car

That is called heel-toe downshifting. Using the toe on the brake to maintain the braking force, while blipping the throttle with your heel to match the revs to the gear below. You want the engine engaged in gear under braking to help in deceleration, and keep the car stable throughout the corner. In order to shift into a lower gear, the revs need to be high enough for the engine to shift into the gear (think about the opposite, high revs when you upshift), so when the clutch is engaged, he will blip the throttle with his heel to raise the revs, then release the clutch and the car will fall into gear much easier. This technique can only be used in cars with a full manual with a clutch pedal. Unfortunately with all of todays automatic and semi-automatic transmissions, heel-toe downshifting is starting to become a lost art form. ***** You are very right! and speaking of bikes, that's why slipper clutch was invented for noobs who don't know how to blip the throttle between the downshifts.
***** The only manual car i drive is a giant 3000+kg Van for work. it's got a underpowered diesel and 5 speed with failing synchros...only upside is i get some good practise heel toeing when i'm bored :P

That heel toe downshifting though. This by far is my favorite car. Wish to see it one day, the V12 on this car sounds phenomenal and the car still looks up to date close to 20 years later.

My brothers and I actually got to sit in this very car while it was on display at Watkins Glen in 2015. It was driven on the track before the rain came down and didn't quit for 2 days. I was amazed by the central driving position and how much visibility there was. That was the biggest highlight in otherwise the most miserable and unpleasant race I've ever been to. And I saw the exact same car again at the Petersen in Los Angeles in 2021.
Ahhhhh. Back when race cars were all about perfect the perfect machine, not controlled by electronics but by the drivers. 3 real pedals! This is why I bought a 99 Dodge Viper Gts and not a GT - R. Great video! We want more!

I miss this track. My uncle was a mechanic for TRD's GT2 and GT3 teams and I got full pit passes and a golf cart every year at the mid ohio championship races. It was a blast till they changed the venue. I even had the chance to sit in the GT3 TRD Celica to help them set up the Go Pros because I was the same height of the driver Pete Peterson. I got a ride in his Ferrari F430 after the race too. I don't live a privileged life but I've had some good times regardless. Oh yea, I got to meet Steve McQueen's son at the after party also. Good times.
A McLaren chassis with a BMW engine... What a clever car ! Nothing like the SLR... It clearly shows the difference between those two German automakers. The SLR is an awesome car too, but in another way. The F1 is just iconic.

McLaren isn't a German automaker. They are 100% British and the BMW engine in the car was built for them by BMW

Kaisuke971 Not really sure what you are trying to say in your comment. Both cars are in fact built by McLaren using German engines. Other that that I get that The F1 is an icon.
Emtildeath6666 I was saying that when McLaren made a car with BMW, using both McLaren and BMW attempts, it instantly became a Masterpiece and a true legend, and, the real first Supercar.
Then they tried to do the same with Mercedes but as the Star Brand is more axed on Luxury, the car is way less sportier and less iconic.
So this shows the differences between BMW, which is more involved into making a car for the pleasure of true car guys, and mercedes, which is more about luxury and making brutal and luxurious cars like the SL 65 BS, the C63 AMG BS, the CLK 63 BS and ,let's say, the SLR.
Gopro, i love your cameras, i love your cameras! With that being said, if you ever overlay music to an exhaust note of this magnitude again, I will find you.

Been around this course a few times. Also took a defesive driving class at this place since its just down the road from me. I had to due to a speeding ticket. But i dont remember a thing they said partly because I already knew it but just wanted the ticket off my record since i was a minor. Also it was track day and we where in the press box/luxary box that has a great view of the track. So all day there where various sports cars driving by. It was a nice view haha.
Justin Bell and his father David Bell led three quarters of the 1995 race , had issues but finished top 6 he knows how to drive these cars

A standard F1 sold for $5.5 million two years ago so a Le Mans F1 GTR is well worth over that price.
Serge Narb i was estimating around a few million as the regular f1's use to be sold for a million+ but i agree with mcfadden with the priceless pricetag. dunno where you get the 5000 from.

My favourite car of all time, so sad knowing I will most definitely never get to drive it..
Never say never although the probability of it is bleak. Maybe you might catch a generous owner and if your willing to pay you may get a small passenger ride in 1 of them. I would settle for that, just once to so it made it more special. Better than nothing, and more than most!

You might be surprised - they're not so bad. I drove my father's new 2015 Stingray and it was sick. And yes I've driven European cars. His best friend has a 2009 Porsche Carrera 4s. Both cars handled ridiculously well, both were sick fast, and both had incredible interiors. They're going head to head soon. I'll record it.
