@@efonwang honestly that's very possible and I considered that before commenting, just thought it would be unreasonable for me to assume that, and if they did, who cares, nobody really knows unless we were there
I mean, it is. The F-22 is almost 15 years older, and only really capable of Air to Air, and pre planned Air-to-ground engagements. The F-35 on the other hand has a much more advanced avionics-suite, better targeting sensors, and a wider mission capability, meaning it can do various different missions. The F-35 really is being hated for no real reason other than "oh its so expensive and unsafe", but that really only applies to the F-35B due to its VTOL system. The F-35A and F-35C, are actually pretty good, capable, and cheaper than the B.
Do you really think, the military goes into a "fight" without gathering intelligence about their enemy? I am sure that they knew the exact specs of the car such as straight line speed, cornering speed, drag coeficient and so on. They calculated that race in advance then briefed the pilot.
That's what pilots do you know... I am surprised how few people in the comment sections seem to be aware that, unlike those car fanatics from the tv show, being an actual jetfighter pilot is all about math. He knew exactly what is going to happen.
How did anyone knew that this comment was gonna be in the comment section. I was looking to be disappointed. Nope... Typical. Follow the trend I guess.

Lol yepp! Chris Harris has been exremely lucky with his job, of course hes a brilliant motor journalist and Im a huge fan, but I gotta say, that young fighter pilot in this video, he jas clearly done the right choices in life! Ennnnvyyyyyy😭😭😭
Every time I see this, it's so amazing. I can't imagine how much of a logistical nightmare it was to set all this up, from approving it, to the cost for maintenance before and after just to do a little demo.
its a daily occurrence for the maintenance crew, drop in the bucket Ive actually done a very similar thing, Im avionics for the U-2S and the landing gear is so shit that a pilot literally has to chase the jet when it lands with a supercharged dodge and radios the flying pilot to tell them how far off the ground they are. Its called a chase car. But we're only going about 140 mph
@@ASbored He forgot to add that the U2-S only has two wheels, one in the front and one in the back, it's also meant for VERY high altitude operations, so it works less efficiently at lower
They fly them all the time for test flights, training, and actual missions no less so a demo is no big deal. And "logistical nightmare"??? You think they just have all the planes sitting around in hangers 24/7 with no plans or intentions of ever using them?

The F-35's top speed is 1.6 march or 1900 km/h, the McLaren Speedtail's speed is 391 km/h.
It's more like 1700 km/h since its Mach 1.6 top speed is at high altitude where the speed of sound is somewhat lower that at sea level.
Yes, so I don't understand why topgear want to challenge F35 using a hypercar...they are uncomparable😂
Simple if you live in a place where roads are more curvy then buy mclaren

It wasn't fair anyway. If the F-35 would work as advertised, it would be much more than 1.4 seconds between the jet and the beauty.
Yeah honestly getting to work in my f-35 is kinda hard but it’s definitely worth the buy for a daily commuter
Imagine if the f35 went for a full speed run

I love how spot on the Pilot was about what the outcome would be.
Im really thinking about did he really made it up in his mind or was there a calculation. Im sure a pilot of that caliber can calculate how the outcome will be, its all math
Maybe they filmed the planning after the actual race?
Having been a pilot yeah it was probably calculated, we calculate most of what our flight will be from take off to landing.
@@efonwang honestly that's very possible and I considered that before commenting, just thought it would be unreasonable for me to assume that, and if they did, who cares, nobody really knows unless we were there

"Most sophisticated fighter jet the world has ever seen"
F-22:"Laughs!!!"

Pilots, Airmen, smart brains if I have to guess.
Maybe they filmed the "race rules scene" after the race.
Wow! Yeah you're right! 👍
Do you really think, the military goes into a "fight" without gathering intelligence about their enemy? I am sure that they knew the exact specs of the car such as straight line speed, cornering speed, drag coeficient and so on. They calculated that race in advance then briefed the pilot.

Every time I see this, it's so amazing. I can't imagine how much of a logistical nightmare it was to set all this up, from approving it, to the cost for maintenance before and after just to do a little demo.
its a daily occurrence for the maintenance crew, drop in the bucket
Ive actually done a very similar thing, Im avionics for the U-2S and the landing gear is so shit that a pilot literally has to chase the jet when it lands with a supercharged dodge and radios the flying pilot to tell them how far off the ground they are. Its called a chase car. But we're only going about 140 mph
The liability insurance alone must have cost a fortune lol
