How to fix a whistling, dripping tap / faucet

  • Most of the time a whistling or dripping tap is down to a faulty valve or seal. Here’s how to get into your tap to clean and refit the ¼-turn ceramic-disc valves, which hopefully will solve the problem - and may well not cost you a penny. Includes tips for releasing stuck parts, (mostly) avoiding damage to the chrome surfaces and re-assembly with future servicing in mind.
    FOLLOW-UP: I did end up replacing the tap washer unit after all, but it cost less than £10 for a replacement part.

      Glad it was helpful. I actually ended up replacing the valve anyway - less than £10 from Amazon. Less difficult to do the second time around as everything came off really easily.
