    Note: when you flush the toilets for the first time it’s best to slightly press the handle/button to let the water refill slowly cause if you just flush them normally, it will seem like your toilet is about to explode!!!

    It worked! Great tip. Also for anyone doing this with mixer taps thats got cold and hot in one, make sure you drain both sides as I had water from both sides. After draining, slowly test out the taps one by one to let the water back in. I say slowly cos eitherelse it might just blast at you like I experienced 😂 Also flush the toilet afterwards. Thank you so much!😊

    When you got a partially turned on faucet and you have the loud vibrating that is not water hammer. Its a loose washer either on the faucet or on the supply stops. Water hammer is when you shut a faucet real quick, or when your washer or toilet fills etc. you have a loud bang.

    • @ThePunggolHandyMan
      @ThePunggolHandyMan  Рік тому +1

      Hi Thanks for your comment! The loose washer combined with the water hammer effect causes a phenomenon called hydraulic ram which is the vibrating sound you hear. The root cause is still water hammer.
      Thank you for watching tho!

    Can you help with this? We came home with Sunday afternoon. We live in a condo community.
    We came home to the walls vibrating noisily . The neighbor had been snaking the pipe in his shower. After an hour we went and knocked on the door. He said that he actually stopped an hour before. But the knocking continued. We turned off our toilet water, and it stopped. We turned it back on and then knocking returned, as well as, the toilet refilling slowly while making a whining noise.
    Will an arrestor work for that? (And would the neighbor snaking his shower pipes affect ours?)

    Help! I live in a mobile home and have pex pipes. After I run the water at my kitchen sink (mainly the hot water) there's knocking/thumping sounds coming from under my dining room floor. I've had the pressure valve changed and lowered water pressure from 100 to 63 but it did not help. It also happens sometimes even when l'm not running the water. This may not be related, but coincidentally around the same time the thumping sound started my floor boards in dining room started to make creaking/snapping sound. Do vou have an idea of what could be causing the knocking/thumping sound under my floor?

    • @ThePunggolHandyMan
      @ThePunggolHandyMan  9 місяців тому +1

      This may be caused by the ram effect. I have a similar setup with my portable sink and it is due to the pressure buildup from the water pump. I dobt have a water hammer arrestor in that setup ant it might explain the knocking. You may try getting a small water hammer arrestor installed and seeing if that helps.

    Im living in a landed property. All my bathroom are connected through a water tank for the hot and cold water with solar panel(2 bathroom second floor and one at ground floor). The rest of the tap are run through a master pipe(hope is what the terms call) Like this video, my pipe also facing this issue whenever i closes it will make noise like something is banging the ceiling, is very frustrating. My question is, based on your video, i need to close the main switch first right? Do i need to let the water in the tank to run dry? because is two different switches... the sound it making is when i using the water tank which is from bathroom one.

    I had our gas internal instantaneous hot water system repaired recently and after a week or so I notice significant hammering around the home and near the unit itself when we shut off any tap at a normal speed. If I turn off the tap very slowly there is no hammering.
    I’m hoping to fix this problem or else I must call a plumber.

      You can open as many taps as you have to drain out as much water as possible.

    Hi I recently had trapped air in my toilet system. And every time I flushed the toilet it would make a loud humming noise. The problem eventually sorted itself out with out anything done to it but now I can hear a very low pitched prolonged vibration sound all round my property can you help solve this it's driving me and my children crazy

      Do you have a ventilation system running through your house? Or is this a water piping thing? Maybe get a plumber to install a water hammer arrestor, that might work. It may be a faulty valve somewhere. You can feel it vibrating

      This one you need several large watter hammer arrestors to be installed in the pipeline. Maybe check with a commercial plumber?

      This is a quick fix and meant to be temporary. The fault should be in a faulty valve somewhere.

    At the beginning, you barely had the faucet turned on and when you opened it all the way, the hammering stopped. At the end, you just opened it all the way immediately.

      Good observation! The hydraulic ram effect from water hammer happens when the faucet is turned small, I did not get the footage of the "after" part but you can check the comments, many people have benefitted from this solution!

      Well then either you hunt for the offending component and try to change it, often a tap or valve, or you gotta spend some money to call in a pro to install a water hammer arrester

    Or just install a $10-$15 water hammer arrestor at the sink water supply and never deal with it again?

    The idea of this fix is to PUT AIR into your plumbing system (to absorb the water-hammer vibrations). SO, after you drain the water (to put air into your system) should you close your HIGH POINTS first before closing your low points (to trap the air in the system?). Thank you! 👍👍

    • @ThePunggolHandyMan
      @ThePunggolHandyMan  Рік тому +2

      Doesn't matter cos you gotta close everything before you turn the mains on. If not every tap will turn on! 🤣
