  • Welcome back to BantuCityDiaries. This channel compares the various African cities to Lagos and Abuja. We would not euphemise our language to entertain your feelings as long as we stayed honest with the truth. If Lagos is A, we would say it. If Nairobi is B, we would do the same without caring whose feelings were hurt.
The truth is primary to us, and your feelings are secondary. We have compared both cities physically, and our report has arrived. Please subscribe and click the notification button if you like what we do. If you think we need to be corrected, say so in the comment section as we review all comments. However, we would not tolerate threats and insults. Such users will be blocked, and their comments will be removed.

Years ago, when there was a lot of road construction everywhere (around 2007), I was in Kenya (I'm Kenyan), and I came to realise just how polite Kenyan drivers really are.
I was being driven by an Irish guy who was so chaotic. Trying to use newly carpeted roads that were not open yet, and even trying to compete with makangas in tao 🤦🏿‍♀️😅
Meanwhile, Kenyans patiently endured the inconveniences.
I've also noticed/agree that Kenyans are not quick to hoot even when other drivers are clearly doing annoying things. I'm the one in the passenger seat getting agitated 😂
So yeah. Kenyan drivers are so chill compared 😅

Nairobi wins again Lagos or Abuja. Lagos is huge than Nairobi but Nairobi is cleaner than Lagos and it looks modern with CBD while Lagos is outdated and generally messy due to vendors occupying most of the streets in the city. Nothing special there to catch our attention.

The problem is that Nigeria still struggles to organize its affairs. Any countries that’s intentional to be developed and puts even meagre effort into it, would easily surpass Nigeria.
It’s not that Nigerians can’t be civilized; the problem is that we are not used to it. And this is due to the political history in our country. Essentially, the Nigerian leadership has never bothered to provide much intentional leadership and direction over the years since independence.
Be that as it may, Nigerians have far more potentials than Kenya. Lagosians are very entrepreneurial and energetic, and this reflects in the fact that they’re significantly richer than Kenyans on an individual basis. This energic and entrepreneurial tendencies also reflects when Nigerians are in the diaspora.

@@AfricasRealities Your blanket statements about Nigerians are extremely ignorant and prejudiced. It is wildly inaccurate to claim that all Nigerians obtain their driver's licenses improperly or flout traffic laws. There are millions of law-abiding citizens in Nigeria who follow proper procedures and driving regulations.
Your assumption that no government agency administers legitimate driving tests is patently false. While there are certainly issues with corruption that need to be addressed, the Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) under the Federal Road Safety Corps absolutely does conduct driving tests and issues licenses to qualified applicants who demonstrate competency.
Furthermore, your claim that "people don't keep to their lane in Nigeria" is an outrageous generalization. Yes, there are violations by some drivers, as there are in every country. However, many Nigerian drivers do obey traffic laws and drive responsibly, maintaining their lanes and following proper rules of the road.
The systemic problems you cite, such as police misconduct, are real challenges that responsible Nigerians are working to overcome through accountability and reform efforts. But to disparage all Nigerians as lawbreakers is both inaccurate and counterproductive.
It is people like you, making sweeping negative judgments, who perpetuate a cycle of disillusionment and cynicism that holds Nigeria back from progress. The majority of Nigerians are upstanding citizens striving to improve their nation through ethical, legal means.
Instead of stubbornly confirming your prejudiced views by accusing those who disagree of "living in denial," I advise you to open your eyes to the reality. Educate yourself on the many honest Nigerians in all walks of life who embody integrity and diligently follow the law, despite operating in a flawed system.
It is arrogant and misinformed people like yourself, applying broad negative stereotypes, who are part of the problem in Nigeria - not the law-abiding majority you wrongly defame. If you want Nigeria to improve, start by rejecting your own biases and cynicism. Support and amplify the ethical citizens working to create positive change through legitimate channels.
