Nairobi has truly been our saving grace. Journeying in Africa hasn't always been easy. At times, between the two of us, when it came to our attitude about being here, we hadn't always been fully on the same page. In this conversation, it brings about the discovery of how we now seem to be aligning our perspectives in achieving a better life on this beautiful continent.

I’m very excited and hopeful to see African American community grow and flourish in Kenya. As you’ve rightfully said, you need to build a community to help each other with transitions. More successful transitions will encourage more AA to make the journey and before we know it, we’ll have our 46th tribe birthed in Kenya. I support your work and wish you all the best.

We are loving the quality upgrades on your video. Here's just a note from someone older than you guys. Don't let the burden of the lack of Unity between the people weigh you down. The powers that caused this division have created a mess that won't be solved by one or two families. Do your very best & Trust that the Creator has a better Plan than we do to bring us together. As well as the anger we carry from living in the west until you visit our original motherland, sure we still have our struggles in our motherland but at the end of the day it's important to find your grounding with friends and family..I've found the best sister and family ,so when I arrive I'm always welcomed to be at home..

If Black Americans want to come to Africa please understand its not easy you need money. So you should come with money, as tourist or visitor, come with an expatriate job, come with a remote job, come as an entrepreneur, or come to retire.
And for children its good they come for holiday once in a while just to prepare their mindset. Nairobi is good for starters coz it gives the luxuries of the west and the African way of living simultaneously

    • @doinggarveytv5894

Yes. If you come to stay in Niarobi if, you're not retired with a income of $24,000 a year or can land a volunteer job that will sponsor you. You must establish a company or have a company to show you have a $100,000 usd in the bank to prove you have the investment dollars to spend in Kenya. Which will be a task for the average Kidnapped Afrikan. But, visiting is a great start to familiarize yourself to Kenya. It's a Beautiful country and BLACK AND BEAUTIFUL. ❤️🖤💚💯✊🏿

It's an individual journey when we go to Africa or in fact any other country other than where we are from because I can see that the two of you although a family and with family are having slightly different feelings and connections as it relates to being there. Greetings Residential Tourists, let me be very clear in that, darkness “ primordial waters” is the essence of all things and where light derives from. I am thinking that it will take many millennia before Africans on the continent of Africa see their brothers and sisters in the diaspora as truly their enslaved cousins. Because of hundreds of years of tribalism as well as colonialism, we will be seen as foreigners for decades to come. Queen I am totally elated that you are finally pleased in Nairobi Kenya as I was really concerned about you for a while there. You both are in a great environment and surely you both will make the best of it. The FOI will always be there and here for you both. Thanks so much for sharing and l look forward to your next episode.

Just awesome to see the conversations. As men sometimes we struggle with communication so this is good to see even if the context may not apply. Unity is strength, so as an African i would dare say you cannot unite with continental Africans if you cannot unite with your fellow African Americans or disapora. If we are all united with our own then when we come together the unity is stronger. A house divided will fall.

Hi Muhammads. Blessings to you both. Your granddaughter could have enrolled in some of the private high schools right there in Nairobi which teach American system. And once she is done with that there is USIU university that uses American system as well. Kenya today has a couple of international varieties that may fit people's needs depending on your $$$. I'll say being biased of Kenya as a Kenyan living in Jersey that the school structure and cultures and ethics in Kenya would be so much better over there with no restrictions when it comes to people's religion even though Kenya is majority Christian but we respect all religions just as much. Islamic religion which I think you are part of is very much welcome in Kenya and has been for centuries and for as long as I can remember growing up so. We have Hinduism, etc. So I hope you can convince your granddaughter to try Nairobi private schools to see if she likes it even if it's for a semester. Peace and blessings. 🙏

Woo hey ya'll. You 'just said' THE MOST important part FOR US to remember. And that is WE the diaspora coming to the continent. - NEED EACH OTHER. Yes the Indians do it the Chinese do it and others that weren't born there support their fellow immigrant. We NEED to do the same thing make no mistake. Because for the most part we're not viewed by the locals as one of theirs. That's just a fact. So we need to stick TOGETHER like the other immigrants in order to not be eaten up by our brothers and sistas on the Continent.

We have a positive culture which we can introduce to the local community that, can be a major impact on them overstanding who we are. WE'RE JUST BUILT DIFFERENT. ❤️🖤💚💯✊🏿

I beg to differ, there're Indians whose great grand parents migrated to kenya over 120 years ago & still can't speak Swahili. They do alright with English. Descendants of British colonialists still live in Laikipia without knowledge of Swahili yet make it with English. Most Chinese live in Kenya for decades with no Swahili yet they just get on ok. They simply are immune from needing acceptance within the local societies. They only focus on their lives & what makes em happy.
What keeps em comfortable is that they got their own strongly bonded communities..

@@lonelion8098 I get your point, they as Africans from America would wonna mingle with fellow Africans of all class structures freely & therefore Swahili would come in handy. However, in Kenya unlike Tanzania, there's no much pressure of learning Swahili promptly. One can take all their time doing alright with English. Only disadvantage is that whenever they open up their mouth to roll the American twang, they're looked at as foreigners. And when purchasing stuff from informal traders they are likely to have prices hiked up. Swahili would really break the barrier though.. My children born in America are just learning Swahili. Whenever they want to buy stuff from hawkers at Maasai market they're always accompanied by seasoned Kenyan friends not to be reaped off. I've also been coaching em the bargain culture whenever purchasing stuff. My daughter is now an expert & street smart.
With time one just gets on ok & eventually Kenya gets into the blood stream.
