    Keep this up ladies... I’ve just had my c section scar revised, which was “grossly disfiguring” after putting up with it for twenty years. I had it fixed during a TAH. I’m 6 weeks post surgery and will use scar massage this time to make sure it doesn’t happen again

    Thank you so much! I wish I had found this sooner, I have a deep scar which is definitely stuck to the muscle and probably bladder too, I am very early pregnancy, so hoping the babe will help loosen it all up but I will do some gentle massage in the later stages to help it along... much gratitude, I have shared this with other c section sisters.

Whenever my scar aches, tugs, pulls, if I have the urge to urinate more often (not UTI), when I have pain during intercourse and intense back pain I massage my scar and with each time I'm able to massage deeper and deeper and the feel of it on one side definitely improved!

    I had a c-section 3 years ago and I have pain and discomfort from what I think is scar tissue built up in my abdomen. It's kinda numb by the scar but that doesn't bother me as much as the pain I get from the scar tissue. Is this normal? I'm concerned about it. I'm going to try the massage techniques while I'm waiting to get in with my OB GYN. Anyone else have this issue?

    • @instituteforbirthhealing-l520
      @instituteforbirthhealing-l520  3 роки тому

      The pain is not normal especially if it's lasted 3 years. Please see one of my Birth Healing Specialists in my Directory on my website or see a Pelvic Health Physical Therapist. Dont be dismayed if your OB doesn't offer any kind of support. Most of them don't understand scar tissue issues. Another thing to consider is the effect of Trauma. If your c/section was traumatic for you that could be part of the pain pattern in your body as well. Good luck.

    Hi. I am doing the same actions around my scar as is the video, but not really sure what is meant by ‘releasing the muscle’? I don’t understand what I’m feeling for. I can feel more solid lumps and bumps underneath (scar tissue I assume), but I can’t really tell which bits do/don’t move as they should so don’t know if I’m doing it right or in a way that will have any benefit. Thanks.

    • @instituteforbirthhealing-l520
      @instituteforbirthhealing-l520  5 років тому +1

      Getting to the muscle layer is just making sure you are sinking into the tissues a bit more than just being on the surface or skin layer. Focus on getting those lumps and bumps to mover freely underneath your fingers side to side and up and down. Good luck!

    Hello, I had a hrystectomy almost 8months ago, and have bladder issues - incontinence. 1. Can I use your technique and massage that scar? And 2. Would there be even a 5% chance that it might have anything to do with this? I am really quite desperate for a solution.

    • @instituteforbirthhealing-l520
      @instituteforbirthhealing-l520  4 роки тому

      It's possible it's related but the incontinence could be from how you are activating your core muscles. Try the massage but if it doesn't change things and you are leaking when you laugh, cough, sneeze or exercise that is more an issue of the way you are using your abdominal muscles. My Confidence in your Core Pelvic Floor and More course can help you understand how to use them in a more supportive way. Check out the Classes on this page: instituteforbirthhealing.com/motherhood-page/. Good luck. Also see if a Birth Healing Specialist is near you. Go see one of them. I'm afraid to try this, I was badly infected with my section plus I had a haematoma. Just recently as well I had key hole surgery to remove my right Fallopian tube due to an ectopic. What do you suggest I try or how do I get around this fear?

    • @instituteforbirthhealing-l520
      @instituteforbirthhealing-l520  7 років тому

      Just start with touching an area near your scar and breath in as you try to connect into the scar. You need to know it's ok to do this. That you can't hurt yourself because if there is pain, you won't go beyond that pain to create problems, nor should you. If you try and still are not getting close to being able to touch the scar, please go see someone who works with trauma and scar tissues. Good luck.

      You want to allow your tissues to heal before beginning this. YOu can massage around the scar but give it one more week and begin gently. Don't create pain, just gentle pressure, stretching, and eventually a gentle burning sensations as the scar tissue stretches. Good luck!

    • @instituteforbirthhealing-l520
      @instituteforbirthhealing-l520  5 років тому +2

      You don't want to use lotion as you want to break up and mobilize the scar tissue. You don't want to be sliding around on top of the skin but moving it all around. Not using oil can help you do this.

      Just allow the growing uterus to stretch out the scar tissue. Don't worry about massaging it during pregnancy. But do start again after the birth.

    Thank you for your video, I had 2 sections more than 11 years ago, 7 years difference, never had any problems, but 3 weeks ago I had a myomectomy and the scar is bigger, was on top of the other 2, and I have a big lump on top of it, still feels numb, do you think this massage will help reduce the big pooch on top of it and help with the numbness ? Thank you!

      Johana, not really. Try not being as aggressive with the tissues and see if that helps. You want to encourage the tissues to release, not force anything. Gentle massage is better than force. Good luck!

      Just spend 5-10 mins a day until the tissues feel nice and released and move easily in all directions. Then decrease to once a week if it remains released, then check in 1 time a month up to 2 years. If tissues feel more restricted massage it more. Good luck!

    This was very informative! I'm wondering is it safe to do while currently pregnant? I'm expecting a rainbow baby and it's been 4.5 years since my c section. It's burning and I'm sure it's from scar tissue, but I don't want to do anything to jeopardize the baby I'm expecting!

    • @instituteforbirthhealing-l520
      @instituteforbirthhealing-l520  2 роки тому

      The burning is the scar tissue stretching as your uterus grows. If you can tolerate it I wouldn’t do anything with it. If it’s uncomfortable I’d go see a practitioner trained in working with pregnant people.
      Good luck.

    Hello I’ve had 2 csections that formed a ton of scar and fibrosis tissue. My scar was depressed and painful even 7 years later. I just recently had surgery to get this removed. I now have a 7 inch incision. Much like a new c-section incision. I am at 3 weeks post op but have a lot of inflammation. Can I still massage my incision or do I need to wait for the inflammation to go down first? Thank you

      If you’re talking about the excess skin and fat hanging over the scar tissue you need to do a lot of deep release work on that scar tissue to try to get rid of that shelf.

    Thank you so much for sharing this! I had my first c section 6 weeks ago and my incision feels really tight - almost like I can't stand up straight all the way - like it's pulling. My back has been very achy (upper and lower) and when I go for a walk, my upper back in particular is really aches. I tried to run a few steps to see how it feels and it felt like I couldn't fully extend my body, it kind of felt like I was running while folded in half, if that makes sense. Do you think this is adhesion related or should I be concerned with something else? Thank you for any insight!

    • @instituteforbirthhealing-l520
      @instituteforbirthhealing-l520  7 років тому +2

      Please don't run right now!!! Your uterine ligaments need time to heal before straining them. You are feeling the scar tissue adhesions pulling as you try and stand up straight. You do need to work on this. If your scar is well healed please do this massaging to it. it needs to release so you can stand up straight without the pulling. Good luck!!

      Institute for Birth Healing - Lynn Schulte, PT
      Thank you! No, I won't run, I just wanted to see if there was a pull when I did it (it was only a few steps). Would you recommend doing all 3 steps to the massaging? I know you mention in there to only do the first step if you're newly healed (I definitely don't think I can pick up my scare yet, but should I do the piano keys? If not, at what point is safe). Also, my actual incision feels firm, not moveable, or hard (but it's lower than the skin above and below it, is it stuck to something and will that gradually go away with the massages? Thank you - this is my first c section after two vaginal deliveries. I'm not used to a slower recovery and want to make sure I recover to my optimal state!

    • @instituteforbirthhealing-l520
      @instituteforbirthhealing-l520  7 років тому +2

      Do what you can and yes it's stuck down to the lower layers and needs release work and it will go away when you release it. Don't do too much, let pain be your guide. If you are really sore the next day you did too much. Start with the first layer and get that released then work on the deeper layers. GOod luck!!
