MG is really stepping up their game...I just got a Trophy manual about 2 months ago and I love it ...this new model is stunning ..I reckon this'll sell like hot cakes here in the u.k.
Iv got the old style MG HS Phev and it's a lovely car had it nearly 2 years had no problems only do short journeys but so comfy my last car was Jaguar xfs from new nice but cost 1000s in repairs and servicing enjoyed driving it for 13 years, now I'm 74 just want comfort and good higher driving position, looking at your video of the new one looks like MG have produced an even better one , MG are going to give me one to try at my next service in November top of the range again so I'll see the difference myself looking forward to it , any tips or things to try and look out for.
MG has made a world class PHEV SUV having a pure EV range of up to 75 miles. In reality with a 24.7 kWhr battery, it's real world EV range should be in the low 60 mile range which is still fantastic. I own two Toyota RAV 4 Primes which have about 42 to 45 miles of EV range with an 18.1 kWhr battery which has never quite been enough for our daily commutes. Toyota is supposed to come out with a 100 plus mile PHEV in the near future, but in the meantime, the MG HS PHEV is unrivaled.
As a mg hs owner. The car is decent and value for money. But mg customer services at showrooms are criminal and full of lies. I've had terrible experience.
One of these drove past me about 3 weeks ago. Its good looks really caught my attention. The interior is a big step-up, looks really good. Talk about a great improvement. I’ve heard a lot of criticism about MG quality and dealers so that makes me quite wary.
Well done being first cab off the rank with a test of this. PHEV for me as in Australia, EVs and PHEVs until end Mar 2025 are FBT free if company car. FBT = fringe benefits tax.
Great review, is this new mg hs 1.5t petrol version better than the omoda 5 1.6t petrol u were driving on another video, I like them both but the tan brown interior in mg hs is stunning in would seal the deal for me, I would go for either silver or black with the tan interior in 7speed dct auto in the 1.5t petrol version 👌👍🏴
Hi I enjoyed your video, some great comments on the different types, I noticed no sunroof on the Hybrid, it must be an extra, if possible can you give a link for the Specs and Brochure, this model I hope can have the Red flashings on the seating. Regards welshman20
Is that interior available in the U.K.? Haven’t seen that as an option! Makes a massive difference to what is otherwise a very dark interior with the loss of the panoramic roof
I watched this thinking it would be horrendous, but actually i quite like the interior, the outside is rank, you could park in the disabled spaces without fear of anybody checking to see if you had a permit, they would just presume. great review.

looks promising especially with a virtual doubling of hybrid miles v previous model.Think the old school ice is not the one as mpg plus price of petrol in UK . Should have hud , a SUNROOF , like 3rd world countries seem to have, and yet again , a weak selection of exterior colours . The option of beigy peach interior might be popular with black exterior but with blackheadlining and no sunroof it will be too dark inside for rear passengers. They had a extra cost red interior previously again with shortsighted black headlining , which wasnt the best of ideas and peeps actually preferred the non cost colour interior. Hope they have now upgraded the brakes on more powerful plug in v the standard ice. ps the previous HS testers in the previous model also expressed a better ride in ice only version as you sir have said with this latest HS . Think mg will have to tweak the car by a year or so from now to keep the punters interested rather than slashing the prices as size wise its already a budget suv
Not keen on all that dinging and donging and if there’s a way of switching off the bongs and you have a crash would your insurance company null and void, or should I say wiggle out of paying out in a claim if that was to happen? It wouldn’t surprise me.

If it were me, I'd probably buy the petrol version, as 6000 pounds buys a lot of petrol. But if you're buying it to see you through your retirement, and you have your own charger, I can see the appeal of running it almost exclusively in EV mode. Then again, in such circumstance, you'd be better off just buying a full EV. Maybe if you're leasing, the PHEV won't cost much more a month. But the PHEV seems too compromised where it really counts for the added performance, and when you're driving on petrol it will have worse economy.
