Hard to imagine how one of the best records of all-time, "Time Of The Season", from one of the best albums of all-time, "Odessey & Oracle" nearly did not get any attention. Thank goodness for Al Kooper..
One of the most underrated bands ever, but not by musicians .
I had a kid band that's all we played was Zombies
A couple of super cool musicians Rod and Colin really enjoyed this 3 part interview! Thanks Joe you are super cool too!
Thanks John…Joe
What a lovely man you are Joe… And the zombies are incredible, every single track old and new bring something special to music… So happy that they’re enjoying the recognition they always deserved…
I really enjoyed this series, Joe. Please keep the classic groups going.
Thanks Don… I will try… Joe
there's a pile of these and they're all great!
Zombies were and still awesome. Growing up as a teen in the 60s, to me the musicians were the best.
The Zombies went to the Philippines in 1966 where they found out they had more hit records there than anywhere else in the World. They are famous to this day in the Phillipines, not with just the older generation of the 1960's, but with every generation thereafter.
My wife is a school teacher in Calgary Alberta Canada. Her school has a huge Philippino population and all the Phillippino kids know and Love The Zombies.
Saw the Zombies at the RnRHOF the year they were inducted.
They are still writing music and played two new songs.
And played Argent songs as well.
Another excellent interview ! Great recordings from the '60's .
Great Joe! No wonder the Zombies material was so good. I must say that Argent's Hold Your Head Up made its way into many of my 70's Orange Sunshine nights!!
MHOF Backstage team, you folks keep amazing us. I love the Al Kooper tie in. It’s amazing how many time Kooper’s name is mentioned when discussing the rock era, and in seemingly unrelated events. The Zombies appear the result of of Argent’s vision and drive and Blunstone’s amazing voice. Awesome interview. Joe and Jay, thanks for being fans of this wonderful music. The people you interview have no apparent cynicism or artifice, which is refreshing.
Glad you enjoyed it Thomas…Joe
Thanks, Thomas! It’s really fun to do these.
I didn’t see Parts 1 & 2. Will have to scroll UA-cam for that. Randy Bachman said The Guess Who paid tribute to The Zombies with Burton Cummings’ grunts during the beginning of “Undun.”
I loved this entire interview! The Zombies are the best. Thank you.
Odyssey & Oracle is one of the greatest albums of all time!! PLAY LOUD
Absolute pleasure to see you 3 guys continue to teach us the trade. Thank you very much
Argent and Blunstone Rock!! They sound like 2 wonderful guys; glad you were able to interview them, and we got to 'listen in'. It's amazing they still tour so much - they must be doing a lot of Geritol at the Rexall Drug Store 😂
Sweet! Joe, you done did good again!
Thank you Ernesto..Joe
Love the oracle album so underrated love these interviews 😍 not only great questions but the research that makes it all work especially the old pics of yesterday
That was incredible Joe.
Argent... I didn't know that, but Hold Your Head Up is an unforgettable classic.
Thank you again for your commitment to educating folks like me. I'll look for that Argent record.
Peace & Love
Rick

You and your guests are always the best, Joe. Thanks! I was listening to the first Argent album not too long ago and I was once again reminded how great it is.
Joe, thanks again for another great interview with one of my all-time favorites, The Zombies. I'm a 73-year-old rocker still out there gigging on the local circuit and look forward to all your interivews. Keep up the great work!
Keep picking Butch( that’s what Les Paul always said) best, Joe
Another excellent inside view of rock and roll songwriting history. What wonderful, modest men. Thanks again, Mr. Chambers
Wow so many of the people who's music I love and respect are intertwined with the Zombies....Tom Petty, Al Kooper....it's just eye opening! Thanks again Joe.
Many thanks Joe. Keep em coming!
i would like to go and have a couple of pints with these guys they sound like top blokes , good one joe ...
Joe Chambers is the man, Thank You Sir!

Two absolute legends here. Great to hear that they are still touring. Hope i can see them again in my homeland Belfast, Norther Ireland. And yes I DO BELIEVE IN MIRACLES 😁😁
Joe, like you, the Zombies were certainly one of my favorite groups in the late 60’s, and Time of the Season is still one of my all time favorite songs! All 3 parts were great, thanks for sharing!💫
Thanks again Larry….Joe
These 3 vids have brought such joy to my heart.
Thanks,
Joe...

What a wonderful interview, sharing history Many thanks Joe
Thanks again Nelly….Joe
Thanks Joe!
brilliant guys and fabulous musicians! another good one Joe!
Great interview Joe, shame it had to end. I remember Time of the Season being used in the film Awakenings which starred Robin Williams. Great film too. I was surprised that Rod never mentioned Russ Ballard when taking about his band Argent because Russ did the lead vocal on Hold Your Head Up and was the writer of God Gave Rock and Roll to you. Maybe they don't get on. My favourite Argent song is Clown from the album Circus. Absolutely beautiful but no-one seems to know it.
Russ had a solo album in late 1980 on CBS Or Epic. I had a job starting in the mail room a couple weeks after I married and had access to all new albums as part of my job. Russ Ballard album was great. Thanks for bringing Russ up rocket. Best, Joe
Ya Joe !! Great stuff as usual keep them coming
thanks
Another pearler. Thanks Joe
Thanks Again Joe !! Jimmy ...
I have to say it again, Joe, you are my favorite interviewer, you ask all the right stuff!
Thanks hollie…Joe
I liked the Zombies. I can tell it was great for you Joe. I'm happy for you. Must be great having your job, getting to meet your heroes. Funny story: My late wife's Mom is a HUGE BB King fan. I think Musicians Friend had a contest some years ago, the winner got to meet BB plus won some gear too. (I fully intended to give her & her husband the prize, should I win.) My late wife told her Mom about the contest. Mama asked me what I would do if I won, I told her I was going to give her the prize. She said she'd already met him. She said what would you do Gil? I thought, then said "Mama I'd probably start crying." We all broke up laughing.
Great story Gil… thanks for sharing…Best, Joe
Great interview. Thanks.
Got to meet these guys last week when they were at Nashville Symphony. :)
Great interview 👍
Another great series of interviews Joe! Thank you so much for all you do!
Thanks for supporting us John…. Best, Joe
Excellent 3 part series. Awesome👍🏻😎
Such cool dudes!!
Rod essentially invented prog rock
Amazing interview Joe and many thanks for sharing one of my very favorite.
Thanks Ivan…Joe
Thanks Joe, you are providing a great service to music fans! Are Rod and Colin the only original musicians still touring?
I think so. The bass player might be too mtc… Joe
Yup.
The two other surviving original band members; Chris White, vocalist, bassist, song writer, producer, and Hugh Grundy, drummer, will tour with them if they perform their Odessey and Oracle Album. Paul Atkinson, the original guitarist, Record Company Executive, passed away in 2004.
@@mrnobody3161 thanks for the information.
thanks for this.
Thanks for posting this interview. The Zombies are one of my favorite bands.
Al, my dad, Joe, passed September 28th- but I know he would have appreciated your comment. The Zombies were one of his favorites too.
Thanks for supporting the channel. Hope you can visit the museum sometime.
Best,
Britt
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum I sorry to hear about your dad. Listening to his interviews, it sounds like we had similar tastes in music. And I'd love to visit the museum. Thank you so much.
