Will Lee with Anton Fig were like Peanut Butter and Jelly. They(w/Paul Shaffer) played the most legendary live gigs at the RR HOF ceremonies.

Such a wonderful interview. This is important stuff to memorialize, a real precious oral history that would otherwise be lost, and lots of fun to listen to at the same time. Thanks!

Have always loved Will's playing and style! I even use his signature "Dean Markley Will Lee series" strings on all my basses!

Really enjoyed this. To this day I remember the energy that Will brought to the band on Letterman. He always seemed to be loving it and had a huge smile. This interview might help explain some of the happiness he exuded. 🙂 Great stories. Thanks, Joe!

What a great interview....could go on for many more vids.
I watched Letterman from his early days ....and Paul was so important as was the band.
Love learning about musicians and their bands, gigs, sessions.
    Nothing like your interviews Joe.
So great to enjoy with my morning coffee and often going back in time with you and your guests....While I sit over here in Cambodia loving the local music and new kids making a name for themselves...a young man Vannda is blowing up from local to international....
But, you and your museum take me back to when it was just WHB ...810am in KC and you turned that channel on for top 40....and growing up around country. KC was big enough everybody came to play concerts and small enough that I could get a ticket.
Indeed, a HOF player...by a HOF gent named Joe..
    Thanks so much..

    Oh, Mandy
    Well, you came
    And you gave without taking
    But I sent you away
    Oh, Mandy
    Well, you kissed me
    And stopped me from shaking
    And I need you today
    Oh, Mandy

Musically speaking and with all the usual jokes aside - I love Mandy. I’ve loved it from its first piano note that I heard back in the mid seventies as a kid. The opening bit might very well be the most clever part of the song! It immediately captures the listener’s ear. Supposedly the song is about some beagle dog and not a woman…I don’t care really. And no, I really can’t imagine Spinners doing this tune. It cemented Barry into the crooner’s hall of fame forever. Period. Hands down! The song is timeless. Clive was right in hearing this as a ballad. Of course the bass part is one that I pay close attention to. We can ALL learn from how Willie here played in this incredible track. Thanks Joe for digging this one up and bringing it back to the light.

Great Joe. Loved the Mandy story. I was on several sessions in the day where the artist didn't like the tune until it charted!
