I've torn my hip flexor in an accident and now have a lot of lesions (right at the top). I also have osteoarthritis, but the muscle is so painful, I'm full time on crutches. Any advice about what more to do?
I'm trying to figure out the name of my problem. I have tenderness right below the front of my left hip joint. A secondary problem I have that appears to be impacted by my front hip pain is pain in my lower left back. I was told an x-ray showed arthritis in my left SI joint and lower spine. But my doctor (my doctor likes to limit appointments to 10 minutes so she's not very invested) and the physical therapist I've been working with for almost a year now have told me that the issue might be a sidamage (been told both that it's to mobile and that it's the opposite of being too mobile), bursitis, tfl tightness, and a handful of other things. I do the various physical therapy routines that I'm given religiously, but the pain is only getting worse (had to give up walking as a leisure activity and am starting to limp) my left side isn't getting any stronger. I had surgery on my left foot two decades ago after I was informed that foot was broken. I don't know how I broke it or even when it happened. But I know I don't walk correctly and that my current issues are probably caused by my left foot being flat and my toes protruding out to the left. I also have nerve damage on the left inside of my ankle and tarsal tunnel (both of which I can't feel at all). I was wondering if you had any ideas on what I might have? Or any tests I should put myself through in order to determine just what part of my hipper back is the source of the problem? Thank you for your time! Cheryl
OMG I have had this pain for a year. I’ve was doing PT for 4 months with little relief. Thankfully this session came up on my feed and after one day of doing these I can already feel some relief. This pain has caused me to fall many times and now I have to walk with a cane. I can’t thank you guys enough for all the wonderful Therapy session you give us. I know With continuing these exercises I will be able to dump this cane and walk pain free. 🙏🏻💕

@@BobandBrad I have pain on that area only when I try and sit Cross leg or when I sit and out my left leg on top of knee. It's in the front and inner groin area?
I've been living with this pain for years! I told my PCP that it felt like my leg was slightly out of socket, and she looked at me like I was crazy and prescribed ibuprofen. I am so immensely grateful for this advice!
I just experienced this day before yesterday for the first time. I couldn’t believe how much pain I was in. 800 mg of Ibuprofen didn’t do anything for it. Yesterday, I went back to bed at 1 pm and spent the rest of the day and night there. Thankfully, my husband doesn’t judge me for that. I used a jade heating pad that these guys suggested a good while back. That brought me a lot of relief. I’m still tender but doing so much better. I will be doing these exercises to help me through.

Oh my word! I have been battling this pain for years! I've had xrays, an MRI. Did PT and shots. I found this video this morning and gave it a try and I felt great until the evening, so I did it again and the pain is gone - again 😁 wish I knew this trick 10 years ago!
Thanks Bob for an option for us elderly folk that can't get down on our knees. As for the strap in the door, I can't bear weight on my bad leg without holding on to my walker. But..thanks for the video.

My hip is hurting a lot. I’m wondering if it’s from Pilates and it’s helping my body my second week doing Pilates and exercising quite a bit more. I started out for three months with really low weight and one class pump total body pump and I kept that up for once a week for three months and then I’m moving up so but I realized I think I’ve been really lazy actually because it’s not enough anyways now I’m doing Pilates every Wednesday morning and I think I’m just re-aligning my body so this will help the process trying to get more movement to get younger. I have hip pain that goes down the front all the way to my ankle as well as in my back. Doc says I have a bone spur in my hip joint. I will try these to see if I get relief from pain.
Oh. I am so excited for this. I fell hard 2 months ago (hit the outside of my hip but it's the inside/groin area that's hurting). Now I can barely even sit down for 30 minutes. I will definitely give this a try
I've had acetabular impingement issues the past several years, but haven't noticed front hip flexor problems until recently after running. Could this cause hip flexor pain and would these exercises help with this? Thanks!
I had a hip replacement about 10 months ago... the hip feels fine - but I have had such bad groin pain - nothing has helped. Did my hip replacement cause this?
I had a THR close to 15 years ago. Anterior incision, NO restrictions (other than not to wrap my feet behind my neck... as if I ever could!). I still get occasional groin pain when fatigued or need to stretch, even with years of weekly Pilates Reformer & CoreAlign classes. The booty lifts (1st exercise) & bridging (esp. one-leg bridges) have helped to strengthen the muscles of THR hip, & the 2nd exercise is a great stretch for both hips. I'm not even tempted to try that last one Brad demonstrated with the yoga strap!

You can try it but since we are unable to examine you and know your specific situation, we would feel more comfortable if you spoke with your doctor first since they know your specific situation.
I think this is exactly the issue I'm having from what you described. If I'm walking for longer than 10 minutes, I start getting hip pain in the front and side of my hip and it burns as I continue walking. When I elongate my step to the back, I get relief. Thank you for the Rick Olderman mention, I'm listening to his webinar also for more details about this. I messed up my legs riding a bike that was too small. doh.
WARNING: if you have a labral TEAR in the hip socket cartilage these exercises will make it WORSE! if, when walking, you suddenly get a pinch in the front of your hip socket joint and its very painful, cant take a step, then youve likely got hip labral tear in that front cartilage caused by trauma to the joint. after i broke 2 bones in my left foot, i did a lot of hopping etc on the right foot, which cause a lot of pressure weight on my right hip, thats how i got a labral hip tear. I did laying down on my side clamshell knee exercises, turn over and do the other side too. and lay down on your side straight leg raises about 1 ft up on either side while laying down. and exercise loop resistance bands on your lower thighs near the knees while youre seated/lounging then doing clamshell exercises while you lounging watching tv was very useful indeed. increase the band tension by using thicker bands to increase effectiveness/build tight muscle in your butt.
@@ToonFn- a lab tear is not a muscle, its HOW the ball n socket works, the ligaments that HOLD the ball join IN the socket are too loose/damaged and became too loose, so that the ball joint doesnt fit snugly inthe joint, it moves forward and hits the layer of cartilage that lines the front rim of the socket joint, the rub/impact of this is quite painful, you wont b able to take a step. to fix this, i promptly bring that leg/knee up to the chest snugly a couple times, and the ball will then fit properly back into the socket.

Bro how do Ik if I hurt that muscle
@@ToonFn- a lab tear is not a muscle, its HOW the ball n socket works, the ligaments that HOLD the ball join IN the socket are too loose/damaged and became too loose, so that the ball joint doesnt fit snugly inthe joint, it moves forward and hits the layer of cartilage that lines the front rim of the socket joint, the rub/impact of this is quite painful, you wont b able to take a step. to fix this, i promptly bring that leg/knee up to the chest snugly a couple times, and the ball will then fit properly back into the socket.
