ABOUT DRESSRELIEF
My name is Mariel, and I started getting into fashion in the past few years and am learning so much about it. I'm drawn to fashion as I believe it is an art form that not only allows individuals to express themselves but also creates a history and record of different time periods and generations. I've had a lot of fun learning how to put together outfits and use different styles to tell a story through the way I dress. I started this channel to share what I learn along my fashion journey and hopefully help others learn and find their style as well.

While tiktok is contributing to the popularity and prevelance of aesthetics, many of them actually had their start on Tumblr, and even after the downfall in popularity of a particular one there's probably a thriving Tumblr community for it.
Dazecore is my favorite lesser known aesthetic. It’s calm and beautiful.
I'm so glad you covered chaotic academia! It's my personal main aesthetic and I absolutely adore it. In my personal opinion it always felt more human and accommodating to all different lifestyles than dark academia. Love the vid

I'd be interested to see your take on solarpunk. I feel like it gets more attention as an architectural or technological aesthetic and in terms of politics/social justice rather than fashion and I'd love to learn more about the fashion side of it.

Right? Its such an awesome aesthetic that gets brushed under the rug. But it's not the worst because at least it isn't too commercialized this way.

I got you in my recommended section. What makes this crazier is I watch primarily gaming videos and video essays about a variety of obscure things from speed-running history to mathematical theories. *Point is: I stayed long enough to watch the entire video, and be interested by its contents. I find it hard to believe such a small channel can make a video this enthralling.*
So I hope you know your value, because if you somehow got UA-cam to recommend me of all people a video with less them 500 views out of billions with much more you definitely did something right!

Apart from giving us a guide to variety of aesthetics, u also tell us how to be sustainable which I admire. People don't need to overconsume just to follow the trends, yet many utubers encourage it unknowingly . You are an exception ☺️☘️🤭

Bubblegum "Babe" makes me think of the Girly Pop and the.....uuuuhhhh.....other core aesthetic (I don't know if I should mention what it's called).
Thank you so much for talking about these lesser known aesthetics! Have you considered talking or doing anything with some of the J-styles? I recently learned about Mori Kei, and an even lesser known cousin Numa Girl, which I feel like has some strong gremlin/goblincore vibes, too.

Honestly im still trying to figure out my style myself but I’ve just been trying new aesthetics (see my exploring aesthetics playlist haha), just try new things and play around with whatever styles/items catch your eye! Eventually you’ll narrow down what you like and what makes you feel most confident :)

You brought up a great point about needing to be more sustainable with fashion; I wonder if other ppl try to have a spectrum with their aesthetic. I move between chaotic academia (dark colors), grunge (a little lighter in colors), and art hoe (bright colors). I can reuse clothes, but make it work for the different style.
