As a girl I use 3 things to tie my hair up 😂😂 but since my locs have gotten longer I only tie up the top part only to protect my roots from frizziness after a retwist.
Hello; I wanted to know how long or how short did you start your dread with??? Because I'm currently on my fourth month but I'm 2 inches I mean I literally had to sew thread to help it be intact; I know you're biracial but just what advice would you give to a fully black guy who is starting on dread with about an inch long? Is it even worth it???
Dave Chison it’s personal preference if you tie it too tight the back of your head will have a dent in it and the tips will bend if you tie it’s too loose it will fall off
i feel like you get tired of answering dread questions, every Q&A u have is dreads nonstop. I had a part in that and im sorry.. SO on ur main channel and this one I have a question.. if u wasn't doing youtube, what do u think u would be doing,, & what did u dream of doing as a kid
Khalil Ja'von Hey bro idk if you can help me but worth a shot. I'm the typical white kid with straight hair, long hair on the top that goes back, shaved around the sides and back. I don't have money to buy any wax's or anything, but want dreads really bad lol. I like XXXTentacion and Lil Uzi Vert's dreads. For the sponge method, do I need a particular sponge or just any...? What I was thinking of doing was, doing the twist and rip method or whatever, tie them up with a rubber band, then later that day take the rubber bands out, spray my hair with salt water which is supposed to help hair stick together, then I was going to rub a towel in a clock work motion for 5-10 mins before putting the rubber bands back on. A quick question is, 1. Will that work to help my dreads get started? 2. If I take the rubber bands out and rub my hair with a towel, will my hair just fall apart? Thanks!!! P.s. I have been watching a lot of dread videos but I'm still really unsure on how to start them for myself with my hair. Just a little guidance would be very helpful!!
Ferno YT your first idea was good, you have straight hair, so the twist and rip method & backcombing would be the main two for your texture of hair, most people with straight hair prefer the backcombing method it's simple but it also takes time.. Now I've never seen a UA-cam video with straight hair people using the sponge or towel methods main because it's quote on quote "for black people's hair" I don't like throwing out the race card. Blahhhhh lol. But the sponge & towel methods are out of the question, rubber bands Ummmmmmmm idk too much about that, but in my opinion idk about anyone else, I maybe wrong for this but just for safety reasons. Keep the rubber bands in for a week after u done did whatever method u did & using the sea salt spray. & yes those will start off your dreads. Number one stress is going to sleep then waking up with 1 flat side & the other side not lol or the back.. But that's my tips, hopefully it helped you it's my first time helping someone 1on1 with a how to hahah. Good luck bro 💪
Khalil Ja'von Haha amazing thanks bro! So right now I'm twisting and ripping my hair then tying them up with rubber bands to keep them in place, but not gonna lie, my hair is falling everywhere like if it wasn't for the rubber bands, there wouldn't be any noticeable difference right now. Considering it's taking a long time to do all this so far, instead of taking it all out to rub it with a towel and such which might potentially mess it up a bit, I was thinking of just spraying my current tied up hair with salt spray while leaving the elastics in. That way the hair will stick together while being guided by the elastics correct? I want short top dreads like XXXTentacion or maybe the length of Lil Uzi Vert's so if this method or whatever will work than great, if not, then do u have any recommendations? Right now my hair looks like longish hair twisted up and tied so it's coming apart somewhat in the non tied parts as I'm only using 2 elastics per group of hair. If I use the salt water spray then maybe like squeeze the strands together with my hand, will that help it? Cause right now it isn't looking to great but maybe that's just cause my hair has always been used to flowing down my head so it'll take time to group it together and make it stick? Idk. Thanks for replying tho!
If you dont mind me responding, starter locs are hella delicate when you first get them. I don't recommend doing too much of anything to em until they mature. You gotta let em do their own thing for a second.
bakugan12359 it's hard to say because I don't know when your dreads will mature, as everyone has different hair types. my hair took 4 months to get the point that I could start messing with them. But you'll know once they start maturing because they will become almost solid and no longer resemble curls. Then you could try your rubber band method.
It is hella expensive. If you got the patience, watch a couple videos on here that show you how to retwist. I think Gunther got a couple videos thatll show u how.
Doubt it’ll get a response but hoping someone can help me, I have recent started my dreads again, in the back they are thicker but a lot shorter than the front, will it be better to start off with wrapping my hair up? Or leaving them uncovered? Like I said they are very short in the back, cheers!
half of my head’s dreads are shorter and thinner and I think it’s because of sleeping on my side. to event things out, should i sleep more or less on the shorter/thinner side?
Ight so i got my locks in June and didnt get them retwisted in 5 months so i get them retwisted and i and she twisted them up at the bottom and left the hair to stay there. Anyway I wake up n the morn and there all over the place😐but u awnser my questions😁thanks

Freeforms? Bruh don’t wear anything, it will freeform better if you don’t wear anything on and let it matt up over night, hair will get ripped and mix in with your other hairs and your hair will just get frizzy and tangled more, that’s why I don’t sleep with nothing on anymore and mines locked so fast ever since.
Amanda Rožukalne yes. If ur hair is feeling too tight u are pulling ur roots too hard and can indefinitely stop and slow the process of it locking up. Give em time😌
I just got tired of tying my hair up and said fuck it let them do what they do lol
great video bro!! i see u on that dreadlock uploading grind!!(i am too!)
You should upload as well :v

i wish i could get dreadlocks, but all the schools in my area dont allow them or ill be kicked out, what a shame.
Eror damn. That’s fucked up. You should be allowed to come to school as you please when it comes to hair. Smdh
Get two stranded twists...there pretty much the same thing
Eror thats a lie
Drop out
That’s cap 😂
I just want my dreads in the back to get thicker
YVED by DEVY they will they mature faster if you lay on them
@@trapmetal922 they will?
I sleep with a beanie and it keeps my dreads frizzy but they lay down and don't stick up

How do you stop your dreads from standing up???
Put lay down gel on your dreads then they will lay down
But if they ain't mature they start standing up then they fall down
Bruh this stage of your locs 👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿
I sleep with a durag
Dave Chison it’s personal preference if you tie it too tight the back of your head will have a dent in it and the tips will bend if you tie it’s too loose it will fall off

Hey can u please tell me what's the difference between sleeping with a bonnet vs tying it up vs a wrap pleaseee e get back to me
Is a 100% polyester pillow case alright? It's only been a month since I started doing the sponge method so I don't see any difference for now.
Luisk silk
Aye yo Chase, Is it ok to put rubber bands in starter locs to keep the tight?
If you dont mind me responding, starter locs are hella delicate when you first get them. I don't recommend doing too much of anything to em until they mature. You gotta let em do their own thing for a second.

bakugan12359 since my hair locked up, I try every two months. But before they were locked, I was going every 3 weeks

I use a bonnet honestly. It's great

Do u sleep with a durag
does braiding lock your dreads faster
Kemyzon Parker no it's probably gonna take months to loc
and a lot of folks never lose that braid texture after they lock. Just looks weird after a while.
I put my hand on my dreads
duraggg
I'm semi free former also
I have young dreads. If I sleep with them tied up will that change something in the maturing process?
Amanda Rožukalne yes. If ur hair is feeling too tight u are pulling ur roots too hard and can indefinitely stop and slow the process of it locking up. Give em time😌
