This has been a huge topic of debate in the natural hair community so hopefully I can clear it up once and for all! In addition to the bonnet/ durag discussion I also wanted to share some tips to help maintain your loc frizz! Did you know you could brush your Locs?! If not check out the video! Hope you all enjoy.

    Basically, Bonnet for the day at home and Durags for the night when you sleep to hold in those locks or twists. But it can go both ways depends on your preference and style.

    I usually don't mind my frizz for the most part but there are times when it gets a little beastie so I will definitely invest in a soft brush for those times when I want my Locs a bit more manicured. Thanks for the tip 😀

    Put the durag over the bonnet but just a silk durag. The durags with the velvet is really thick open the straps and flatten the straps and u wont get the black line no matter how much u wear it. Brush king has the best soft brushes for laying down frizz and distributing the natural oil to polish the hair

      @@Sk.ldn13 yo bro I think I might have the solution!!! I tried out these "Stay on satin anti-breakage bonnet" by www.stayonsatin.com and they are legit !! First of all the fabric covering your hair is super light and thin plus super loose so NO pressure is applied on your hair, all pressure is on your forehead so expect some marks on your forehead when you wake up though 😅. After one night of sleep since retwisting my hair yesterday, I can definitely say that my hair has remained more fresh than when I used to wear the durag. Sorry it's late but As I Am has an olive and tea tree oil specifically for dandruff. I'm going to get a bonnet and skull cap since du rags really dry my hair out. There's no build up with the product at all and I am dandruff free.

    Now when u do the lil wash wit the durag or whatev, after u dry ya hair and shi do u really need to give yaself a lil retwist for the roots, not nun all big like a full retwist but i small one, u have to? Btw im bout to be 9 months in next weekend so my locs are damner locked.

    • @TPlocks
      @TPlocks  4 роки тому +2

      Jazel Hopkins eventually I got to a space where I did not twist after the wash. I’d just separate the parts and keep it going! I wanted to minimize the stress With as few retwists as possible. It all
      Depends on how you feel your hair is responding. At the time, I took that approach because I was retwisting every two weeks and started to experience thinning 🤯

    • @TPlocks
      @TPlocks  4 роки тому

      Jazel Hopkins at the 9 month mark I was able to just wash and rinse without using the durag. It made my hair look rough but as long as the locs/parts didn’t come allll the way out I was able to wash rinse and dry np. I’d retwist shortly after. (One twist a month) That’s one of the toughest things to overcome in the early stages. Embracing the look after a wash without a retwist.. hope my answers are making sense. Lol

    So if I plan on getting high top dread locs, when I get my comb coils is it best to wear a durag or the bonnet?

    • @mockz270
      @mockz270 2 роки тому

      After having hightop locs for 7 months, I would stay its best to wear a durag. Mainly because you can lay it down how you want it. A bonnet it’s better if your at least 10 months or a year in your dread journey. However the durag doesn’t moisture your hair as much a bonnet does, so before you go bed put some oil in your head
