So true, lol!! I was thinking that the whole time watching season 2. Mason Verger (mainly Michael Pitt in S2) was by *FAR* the creepiest psycho out of all of them. He drinks martinis made of children's tears for fuck's sake! Lol😨😱💀
@@Iamnotabug That's the only moral improvement between him in the book/film and him in this series (at least I don't think the show's version was a sexual predator towards children), but he still gets off on bullying kids.
He raped her is what actually happened within the book hannibal all of this is loosely based around just like will is suppose to be starling when he tries feeding hannibal to the pigs
Michael Pitt is possibly the most underrated actor of his generation, or at least one of the most underrated in film over the past decade. He consistently gives strong, unique performances.
Verger: “I torture people and use their tears to flavor my martinis.” Hannibal: “Hold my beer aged in Cabernet Sauvignon barrels and flavored with human in some undisclosed capacity.”
I disagree Mason is way worse than Hannibal in every way he is a true sadist even Hannibal would never molest, torment kids his own family or torture animals Mason's a piece of shit
3:32, when he mentions the children, Hannibal turns his head and you can read "I will kill slowly, painfully and ensure that I enjoy every second of it." A consistent trait with Hannibal has always been his sympathy for children so Mason is a dead man when he says that he got away with abusing children.
So disappointed they replaced Pitt in the role. I know they can get away with it now that his face is messed up, but I absolutely love what he did with the character.
Woah, I didn't even know they changed him. I could tell he was distinctly different in the third season, but I thought it was just his character's demeanor changing.
I was pretty pissed when I heard Pitt wasn't returning for season 3. He was amazing as Verger and really brought some much needed dark humour to a really intense season.
Gosh girl,I just tweeted that about him before coming here. guess us fanboys/girls think alike. (ps. this video should have had that 'psychedelic' scene, that one was priceless too)
"I'm hungry." "Eat your nose then." "I'm full of myself!" This is the only show where people get to say things like, "Is your social worker in that horse?" Or, "Eat your nose", and people actually get it. XD
Michael Pitt is actually an amazingly talented actor. Unfortunately, he has a lot of personal problems. He could have been a *huge* star if he wanted to and was well on his way after Boardwalk Empire. But he stepped on a lot of toes and burned a lot of bridges. It’s also very rare you see him doing any sort of publicity for his movies or projects which is how you have to play the game if you want to be successful. Even Joaquin Phoenix, who notoriously hates the publicity tours, sucks it up and promotes his projects which is why he is where he is now. But unfortunately for us, Pitt just doesn’t have it in him to do that. He could have easily played a character like Joker if he really wanted to. But when you have demons in your personal life as bad as Pitt does, it’s nearly impossible to break out and “play the Hollywood game” Its our loss really. Just working 4 days on the Hannibal set proved very hard for him
like someone said on Twitter, Pitt could be the only actor, ever, to look at a Gary Oldman performance, and say, "Nah, I could go bigger!" top performance
Oldman's Verger IS rather disturbing, especially in the scene, where he reveals what he has in store for Hannibal, as revenge. That "tarTAR" always sends shivers down my spine. And I think, that Gary Oldman did the job so well, since he had to have this mega makeup on, and STILL be able to make Verger a person, who you'd NEVER want to meet.
"What is your secret?!" The way Michael Pitt delivered that line made me think of Heath Ledger Joker. Everything he says actually when I think about it.
I think this guy is the most despicable character out of the entire Hannibal universe. Masterfully written as someone everyone hates for one reason or another. It's hard to create a character this disgustingly real, and I applaud the original creator of the Hannibal novels for his brilliant portrayal of a genuinely horrible, sorry excuse for a human being like Mason Verger.
One of my greatest 'criticisms' of the entire Hannibal show is that we didn't get to see more of pre-mutilated/disabled Mason Verger played absolutely perfectly by Michael Pitt! This was one of the most interesting and expertly portrayed villains I've seen in a long time, and it absolutely sucked that he got such a tiny amount of screen time. Joe Anderson was perfectly fine as a mutilated/disabled Mason Verger in season 3, but there's only so much you can do with a bed-ridden/electric wheelchair bound villain with a heavy speech impediment. Someone like that needs other people to do everything for them and that's just not the same as the autonomous healthy Mason who I wish we got WAY more time with!
I like how Pitt modeled his performance from Oldman's in Hannibal. It's cool that the show gave some respects to the films every now and then. Especially Hannibal (2001), which is criminally underrated.
During his sessions with Dr. Lector, even the doctor himself seemed shocked at Mason's admissions. That's really saying something for Hannibal to be shocked at anything with all he has seen, heard and done.
It's too bad the actor was replaced. He did a difficult and excellent job of making an absurd character believable and creepy. I hear he's a pain in the ass, but he does great work.
Oh, God. I close my eyes and it's like Ramsey Snow talking. Their voices are so much alike, and of course, the fact that both are sadistic psychopaths. Daaaamn
Oh Thank you for this. ... This show presented characters with a different of psychological issues labelled as psychopaths but Mason Verger is 'The Psychopath' ... That is pure evil. Hannibal Lecter is a saint.

Mason Verger is the best/ worst thing about this show IMO, they've clearly chosen not to go into too much detail re the kids that 'would do anything for a candy bar', I can understand why that might be a necessary omission, but he's still mad as a box of frogs & I can relate to him as the younger version of Gary Oldman's portrayal..not so convinced by the other character changes tho, Margot was a lesbian yeah, but she was infertile because of steroid abuse & wanted an heir with her lover using Mason as an unwilling donor, sleeping with Will Graham to get his sperms then having her left infertile by Mason's doctors...?! The original was a pedophile, and that’s why Hannibal made him eat his own face. “To show the ugliness on his inside, on the outside.”
