Even got the software you recommended. And next year the 20 HP conversation :) cause I'm missing out a view HP when people tag along (almost on the plane moments)

I'm confused... There's a five year warranty on an engine you've owned two years, so why are you turning wrenches? Yeah, I get doing stuff yourself, but you'd at least have new parts in there and because you lubed the o-ring, they'll know you were in there if there's another problem and they'll just stick the blame on you.
Hey man love your channel. I had a good up today where lubricating the swivel bracket, the stupid grease gun got stuck on the zerk and I cracked the aluminum housing trying to get it off. I saw the brackets are only like 80 bucks, but replacing it looks like the entire motor head has to come off or the lower unit has to come off. Ever do anything like this?
Hello there Mike from Canada... you seem very knowledgeable regarding these Suzuki's, I was wondering if I could pick your brain.. I have a 2021 Suzuki DF 20... my problem... when idling it spits water just fine, as I accelerate there is a spot about 1/3 throttle where it stops spitting water... if I hold it there the red light comes on and it shuts down... if I don't hold it there and continue giving it throttle it will start shooting water again... I've had it to a mechanic, he took it apart and said the impeller was in perfect shape, and all the lines are clear including the water intake. In speaking with someone else they said it could be cavitating at that RPM and or boat speed.... any thoughts? Your help would be greatly appreciated... so the boat it is on is a old Naden, 16 foot camp boat...
Yeah test it in a bucket well submerged and see if it does the same thing.. could very well be that is sucking air at that boat speed and might have to change prop pitch if you cant lower the motor more
@@laingej Hey thanks for the advice, it only does it in gear when moving so I don't think the bucket test will work, but perhaps the prop pitch may be an option... again thanks...
I am working on this same motor and problem right now. When I opened up the shaft the pin was disconnected from the dog clutch. There is a smaller pin as well. Does this go behind the larger pin in the shaft? I cannot locate where it goes exactly.
Hey, thx for great vids. My 2020 converted 9.9 has been running hot i think as there is some white on the spark plugs. Could you tell me if your tell tail's water outlet spits hot water? Even after 30 minutes of running high rpm, the tell tail water is the same temperature as the lake water. Thx
Been awhile since you posted anything. Do you still have the Suzuki? I have a 2021 9.9 EFI Suzuki that is running rough. Sometimes it dies at random times. Suzuki service dealer cant find any issues when they hook up computer. I havent used in a year because im scared it will die out far. Its a $3k paperweight
second dealer i took it to found that the fuel pump was going out so they replaced it on warranty only 28 hrs on motor. still not running like it did when new. what fuel is Top Grade? they always say just use 87 grade.
It's free! In fact, you can not buy anything at all, take out the metal flap from the rubber band, and the control unit ebu flash the firmware from 20hp motor, firmware is available on the network, I can share. It can be flashed with any programmer, for example piasini v4.3.

The shifting rod just slides out of the prop shaft then a small spacer cylinder slides out too ..nothing holds it. If you want to remove the dog clutch, its got that wire spring lock in the middle ..you have to work it out with a small flat screw driver.. once removed you can push the dogclutch pin out but its under tension. Theres a long spring pushing on the dogclutch pin.. u need a pick to compress the spring a bit and free the pin down with one pick and with nother pick push the pin free. Release the spring slowly or it will shoot out😂. Then all slides off the prop shaft

What would be a good transom saver to use in this motor? I like the ones that support from the mount brackets adjustment holes to the lower unit
What is the mercury part number you used to obtain the magnet? Very helpful video! Many thanks for all you do!
Not made by mercury just search for: 3/8 magnetic drain plug for lower unit. 22-8M0058389, Lower Unit Gear Lube Drain mercury part#

Even though it was in neutral hope you had the spark plugs disconnected when you tried to move the prop by hand.
Oh no worries this motor wont start in gear and in neutral the prop is disengaged.

I still have mine! Did you replace spark plugs? Get the original spark plugs part# i had replace my sprk plugs twice use top grade clean fuel

any resistants in gears forward or reverse on drive shaft while spining by hand, left or right side?
in your opinion, is there any reason not to do the conversion from 9.9 to 20?
