Assuming a depreciation of 50% (I'm being generous), that will offset depreciated value by roughly 16% over 100,000 miles of ownership.

If you have £120k burning a whole in you pocket, just get an Audi RSQ8 and forget this. Oh and yeah, it's a bloody EV, so will depreciate like a house brick in free fall.
The key question is: do you really want to spend a weekend with this car in the Swiss or French alps? The range would drop by half and it will mentally stress you that you would have wished that you would have spent your money for a Cayenne S V8 or Grecale V6 Trofeo.
I hope so,too, since this is the perfect EV, but too expensive...but wait...its perfect...no, it will be not half the price after two years, but after 4 years.
Dont underestimate how important the continued volume of Macan sales is to Porsche. The SUVs support their ability to produce the real sports car line. If this big gamble fails (very likely) the company has trouble.
Lost me as a customer, well for the Macan. Currently have a GTS as the family car, but will not be changing for an EV, will look at Merc or BMW when the time comes. I do however have a 911 GTS on order to replace my current 911. It's a hybrid turbo, so I can at least live with that. The infrastructure to support EVs just isn't ready. We had a Tesla company car for a while, my God, what a faff that thing was went you want to do a longer journey or try to find a charge point that doesn't have a six car queue at it.
I love this car. I think itd be impossibly backwards to chose other clunky EV trucks like the hummer or cybertruck, once you see this beauty manage its weight so well.
Its a cool car but unfortunately very expensive for what you get.. A lease over here starts at ~1350 per month, which is almost DOUBLE what I'm currently paying for my BMW I4 (which is NOT half the price to buy, if you might wonder)
I beg to differ. The Macan is a vehicle I’ve seen in third world countries ( Petrol powered ) but these won’t have such a wide reach and the limiting factors are Lack of infrastructures, high cost in battery replacement when it gets up in age and range anxiety.
@@Nissannx2000svg battery replacement happens just as often as engine replacement, essentially never. EVs are the fastest growing segment in the western world. BMW’s EV sales grew 37% last year alone. People who can afford a Macan are generally able to afford a garage or a house with off street parking so charging is not much of an issue and the charging infrastructure is getting better all the time. Go to any large European city and you will find that a substantial section of the cars on the road are EVs.
@@ewadgeYou never see batteries being replaced because they haven’t been around and sold in qty long enough. They will all need replacing or scrapping eventually though, it’ll be a much shorter life than a petrol engine and huge amounts of them will start dying at a similar time. It’s a very expensive white good in reality, rather than a regular car which can be fixed indefinitely in many cases and if looked after used for 30/40/50 years
Have to say, lovely package and this colour suits its styling…….Have to add one other comment….. WHY do all new vehicles ONLY have daytime RL in the front ……. Surely it’s. Better to have both front and rear during inclement weather ….???
It's just the Porsche naming scheme. Turbo can be used similar to "fast" (boost) in German and all 911 ICE cars use a turbo, still the turbo name is reserved to the top of the line models. The reason being it's nothing more then a naming scheme, which they created when they had both NA and turbo cars (in their standard 911 / non GT lineup), but they are sticking to it because of tradition, the slightly different (possibility of) use of the word in German and because this way every Porsche owner nows how the lineup is organized, without creating new naming conventions and having two different naming schemes side by side.
I think it is a very pleasing design, looks good... Yeah i would rather want a combustion engine, but hey if it drives good and is quick its cool with me
The reason I'd never get this (outside of depreciation), is that the Macan S (gas) is cheaper and faster than a Macan 4 (electric). And I'd never drop the money for a turbo.
The good news. The Macan with an actual engine will still be produced for a while along the electric version. Let me know how the electric Macan performs in extremes of weather in terms of battery range and charging.
Why laugh? ...a Sound made by an ICE is created from acoustic Designers, too. Remove the exaust pipe...the acoustic body like from an Violine... and it sounds awful. They create exact the Sound an OEM asks for...BMW, Audi etc. And I can tell, I love electric music ... all pure Fake Sound, too!!! We are not used to the artificial Sound...that's it.
It's great as an electric SUV but the comments bringing in comparisons to the GT3 and 911 are just silly. Yes it can feel like a Porsche and will make way more money. But the 911 is the soul of Porsche.

So, over 100,000 miles, the electric vehicle would save approximately $14,526.24 compared to the gas-powered car. Assuming a depreciation of 50% (I'm being generous), that will offset depreciated value by roughly 16% over 100,000 miles of ownership.
Assuming they depreciate at the same rate.
The car has worse depreciation by more than the total fuel used in 4 years in the ice model. Not including this car needs 13k of options to compete with a stock Tesla 3 😂
@@mattx4253 Macan and Tesla 3 are not competitors.
@@PaulEubanks every EV competes with Tesla. A Porsche with a battery and Bosch motor system isn’t really a Porsche any more is it. It’s mostly an Audi with a Porsche party dress on. If this was a real Porsche it wouldn’t be looking at a depreciation of 52% in 36 months. That’s horrific by any brand standards and worse for Porsche. Taycans are now worthless for same reason.
@@mattx4253 Nonsense, that's like saying every ICE competes with Ford. This very review marks several differences in performance from other EVs as well.
Swan neck is functional, thank you very much!

WHERE was this filmed?? Would love to drive that road someday
9:58 theres a road sign. South of france.
Route Greolieres (D2) near Nizza. You can check it out on google maps :)
Those cliffs giving me anxiety
Yep horrible place for a test drive.
This beats the new testa 3 performance...and looks much much better from all sides and angles, inside out.
It’s 2x the price
@@Profvlc99 truedat. Tesla is trying to buy the market with lower prices, hence their relatively low margin in the last quarter. Tesla's fleet of cars are getting old. It's like Nissan, keeping the same model for a decade or more. Wonder how long it will take until Tesla starts making an interior that is actually appealing to people. The car looks like a communist version of a car.
@@Profvlc99like 911 and Ford Mustang...complete different market...luxury and cheap
A Macan costing over £100k and an EV, Porsche have lost the plot. Macan buyers aren't going to spend that kind of money. The GTS I recently sold was sub £80k fully loaded, I configured this 'turbo' to the same spec as my car and it came to almost £120k! Jesus wept. If you have £120k burning a whole in you pocket, just get an Audi RSQ8 and forget this. Oh and yeah, it's a bloody EV, so will depreciate like a house brick in free fall.
in that yellow i though it was a urus
So you can type a comment but not read a sentence.
@@samuelgarrod8327 just a joke
The key question is: do you really want to spend a weekend with this car in the Swiss or French alps? The range would drop by half and it will mentally stress you that you would have wished that you would have spent your money for a Cayenne S V8 or Grecale V6 Trofeo.
Can't wait to see these on AutoTrader for £35k in 2 years time 😂
I hope so,too, since this is the perfect EV, but too expensive...but wait...its perfect...no, it will be not half the price after two years, but after 4 years.

So Macan is still drivers SUV but now with superior powertrain 😊😂😂 Porsche done job right love the cupe look and Tom keep up with great work ❤😊
Drivers won’t be very happy when it loses 40% of its value after 2 years. Just like the Tycan 😭😩😭
@@Manc-fh5weoh yeah and the previous Macan didn't lose any value. It only appreciated instead. Yeah right.
Dont underestimate how important the continued volume of Macan sales is to Porsche. The SUVs support their ability to produce the real sports car line. If this big gamble fails (very likely) the company has trouble.
Yeap, and the cost of replacing the batteries 😂 Porsche is going downhill. They should have kept the ICE. 🤦♂️
I want to see this on the track against a Hyundai Inoniq 5N pretty simliar power figures. make it happen!
My next car. I have a simple Macan S tuned but I want this or the Cayenne
The harder you go the better it is
That sounds familiar Evooooooo! ❤👍👍💯💯🙂😁
I think these will sell like hotcakes.
Till that happens it’s impossible to know whether the electric experiment is sustainable. It’s a very expensive white good in reality, rather than a regular car which can be fixed indefinitely in many cases and if looked after used for 30/40/50 years
Given the Macan 4 is £100 more than a Q6, I can see Porsche shifting more of these than Audi will shift Q6s
For those that can afford it.
Have to say, lovely package and this colour suits its styling…….Have to add one other comment….. WHY do all new vehicles ONLY have daytime RL in the front ……. Surely it’s. Better to have both front and rear during inclement weather ….???

I'll stick with my 3.6 twin turbo petrol Gen1 Macan for now - but this review has brought me closer to EV consideration that anything so far.
These are gonna be everywhere... which means Porsche can keep making real cars🎉
Looking forward to buying this on the used market at 65% discount in a year or so ;)
Are year-old Taycans that cheap where you live/
Ioniq 5 N beckons!
interesting take on EV, would be nice for driving schools or upscale go karts
Turbo? The marketing department needs better help!!!
No.
Kelvin, is that you?
He literally explained in the video why porsche used the word "turbo"..did you failed your listening comprehension?

It needs one-pedal driving. -- They add that (as an option, doesn't have to be default)... I'm in. I'll buy it immediately.
Looks absolutely fab. Porsche is the genius of design no one beats them! Front and back looks perfect
Would buy! Beautiful car

I think it is a very pleasing design, looks good... Yeah i would rather want a combustion engine, but hey if it drives good and is quick its cool with me
In terms of the performance stats we can imagine how crazy the next generation 911 is going to be in order to become much faster than this monster
thank you, good test 😊
The reason I'd never get this (outside of depreciation), is that the Macan S (gas) is cheaper and faster than a Macan 4 (electric). And I'd never drop the money for a turbo.
Yet, the Macan EV is cheaper if bought via salary sacrifice for higher earners like myself, while also being cheaper to run.

The good news. The Macan with an actual engine will still be produced for a while along the electric version. Let me know how the electric Macan performs in extremes of weather in terms of battery range and charging.
They already stopped production for ICE macans.

I can't find this beautiful yellow colour on the configurator here in the UK. Is this only available in the US?

It's great as an electric SUV but the comments bringing in comparisons to the GT3 and 911 are just silly. Yes it can feel like a Porsche and will make way more money. But the 911 is the soul of Porsche.
Is it PTS to get yellow?

IDK what you're talking about, I definitely just looked, and both the Macan and the Taycan here in the states is both offered, and base fitted, with natural leather, no veggie gluten free synthetic crap like you're implying, you can fit leather free options, but what I just said is still a fact 🤷♂️
This is a UK based channel, not US-based, so he is not quoting US-specs. The Standard Interior in Canada, for example, is Sport-Tex/Leatherette with a smooth leather steering wheel.
Why do we always get told about the driving of the top of the tree spec turbo ( with the air springs / four wheel steering - every option etc )- we need a broader understanding of the base / middle car and the cost / worth of the options.
