This is where black swan gets it completely wrong. I remember music school and working with ballet dancers though out my student and professional life and the sense of familial support, friendship, but independent competition is so strong. You’re not competing with each other you’re competing with yourself to achieve your own voice. Some people get that voice and others don’t.
This series makes me regret not taking ballet consistently and seriously. I’ve taken on and off since I was 3 but I’m 19 now and I’m just now on pointe. Wish I could have been in a professional company but it’s too late
Tbh its never to late. For instane the Joffrey ballet school takes trainees up to 25 year old! Many great dancers started quite late. It just depends on yourself. As it will be much harder
I love Peter Martins, Silas Farley, Claire Von Enck, Craig Hall, Giovanni Villalobos, Robert Fairchild, Tiler Peck, Georgina Pazcoguin, Harrison Ball, Jenifer Ringer, Amar Ramasar, and Megan Fairchild.
I know people love thin ballet dancers but I wonder if their early retirement isn't due to trying to keep a lean frame vs having a healthy, athletic body.
I wanted to be a ballerina but had no support lots of abuse moved out young All of this affected my ability to focus & learn I pray that after I pass I get another chance, that I’ll come back to a world where everyone lives in harmony with the animals and earth, all are vegan, that my dead ex-husband and I would be dance partners like Fonteyn & Nureyev, Travolta & Newton-John Astaire & Rogers into eternity. 💃🏿 🕺🏿
Silas' positive energy is so captivating
Yess!! He loves Jesus!
urggha I wish this series was longer! it's so addictive

I love how they put heavy metal background music for BALLET dancers 😂
we listen to it for warm up
There should be ballets choreographed to metal. 😎
I went to see The Nutcracker last month and Claire and her sister danced beautifully!
Claires sister is a soloist now!
And now Emma is a principal!❤
This makes me wish i stayed in ballet when i was younger!
Same here!
+Jessa swiftie?
Joy L. I started when I was 4 and I am 14 now and I’m still doing it

This is so inspirational :D
We loved making this series. Happy you're enjoying it!
Just perfectly beautiful-what a dreamily art world-in love ~*
Samantha Garcia
There's so much repeated footage in these episodes.
Yes. That is lame. Good comment.
I agree !!!!
Why don't they identify the last female corps dancer that's interviewed?? Gretchen Smith
I miss ballet so so much
This is so great to watch ! Such stunning dancers .....really inspirational
I like that cat
I'm so happy to see these kids excel and be loved and supported. Not everyone has it. I swear not everyone does...
okay im not a big fan of harrisons whole person, but his apartment SLAPS
Claire's little sister is Emma Von Enck! I recently saw her in one of her shows. She's in the corps
Emma was just promoted to principal a couple of weeks ago. She was promoted to soloist in 2022.
I like Harrison very much, he seems to be a very moderate and smart person and a beautiful dancer. Does anyone know how he is doing now?
Harrison is a principle now!
Love this
If Robert Fairchild only knew where his career would take him.

Nancy Lawrence You forgot the cat.
Yeah, we got it, thx.
Nancy Lawrence so pretty much everyone 😂
Harrison Ball is not a soloist with City Ballet!
Laura, at 3:22 it says on the screen that he's in the corp de ballet.
Just a heads up in 2021 - but he is now a Soloist!!
And now he is a principal!
And now he is not anymore in the company 😢

Is that Sarah Jessica Parker’s voice?
Yea this was her idea. I believe she produced these episodes. There are a few bonus episode where she interviews some of the dancers
As happy as a clam??!!! Hahahh like... what does that even mean
It's an American saying for being happy and content.

Astaire & Rogers
