I think the fact that the first girl has arthritis really says a lot. She's already in pain from normal things and then add on the pain from dance and shes still okay and doing what she loves. I'm 13 and I have fibromaylgia and I love dance and it's one of my dreams so for me this is super inspiring
Didn't Chase Finlay share explicit photos of his girlfriend without her consent and knowledge! Also, "Amar Ramasar was accused of sending Chase Finlay explicit photos of a corps de ballet dancer and encouraging Mr. Finlay to send him images of Ms. Waterbury. Zachary Catazaro was accused of sending Mr. Finlay intimate photos of a former School of American Ballet student." The New York Times.
@Sara Shepard it is like this every where I think. When she said without artistry you can not be a ballerina, she meant a Ballerina ( capital B) in a larger scale not just on the stage . The audience will notice who is this talented artistic inspired and inspiring dancer and who is promoted by a director.....and it is not fair that even me, not a dancer can notice this and think how on earth was she promoted.....politics....not fair.
Dance requires so much dedication, but it's such a beautiful art! Thank you for your hard work, it is appreciated! We hope that even through the pressure, dance is still fun on stage!
It's also about quality of life..and understanding that that is what the goal is inspite of the show and understanding the parameters of the show, of time and articulation or your joints....how does an orchestra do it or used to do it....so even your own makeup you should be doing....and the makeup artist does the very last inspection or just your eyeshadow...I know...but then again how to keep the plaques from spreading and reappearing on your skin besides not sweating as much....

It depends on your personality. The girls that are principals now have the kind of personalities that wanted to get it and do as much as they could. And no one should call anyone stupid, especially not Ashley Bouder. Come on.
The Waltz of the Snowflakes would like a word about all attention being on the corps de ballet. To have that many dancers so studied they can use their bodies in exact time with each other, is an amazing skill.
I love Jenifer Ringer, Megan Fairchild, Sara Mearns, Ashley Bouder, Peter Martins, Jared Angle, Andrew Veyette, Robert Fairchild, Chase Finlay, and Amar Ramasar.
Unpopular opinion: Ashley Bouder seems so full of herself... I guess that mentality comes when you're a principal in one of the best companies in the world 😜
Charlotte Blanton very true. I don't know her personally or anything so this is purely off the videos I've seen. She's so good though that I don't even care if she was a bad person, I still love to see her dance!
It doesn’t say what company it is...somewhere American I guess. But NOT ‘the greatest company in the world’ ! That’s The Royal Ballet, The Bolshoi and The Kirov.
You complain at Apprenticeship. Complain at Corps. Complain at Soloists. Then you get the Principal you've always dreamed of, you continue with the complaining. No single person here is grateful. All complaints about one thing or the other.
Anne Spellberg im going to hope youre a troll because that is beyond disgusting and i hope you feel unclean for the rest of your life for saying shit like that
Institutions like the NYC Ballet take SO long to change (both in terms of access and image-- the people at the top are there for life and the culture can be very insular). Keep supporting companies and artists you want to see. Keep demanding that diversity becomes the norm (not the exception) and supporting programs that encourage access to the arts.
He and his lawyers went to the union to demand his job back because in the end he was never officially charged with anything. He's still listen on the company website and his profile is still up - but I didn't see him cast in anything even per-pandemic.

Sara is the most down to earth person! That women inspires me like no other!
This series is surprisingly candid. It's always nice to see what behind the costumes and the makeup :)

Yes, totally not a fan of either of these dancers. They seem to be heavily featured in this series....sadly.

Great insights! Thanks for doing this!
what was the music used in sara marns' part

huh?
I love to dance, but my body has limits.
So do theirs.
Yeah that’s the only reason I don’t wanna do ballet, I’m not really athletic and it really can take a tole on your body and mind
you’ll get better overtime! And don’t worry she. your still learning your body usually won’t be put through as much!
I'm dancing at my city dance studio, I want to dance with New York City ballet so desperately, but I'm so far away from getting there
You'll get there some day if you really want it.
If you want it enough then you will work hard enough for it!
Just be inspired and dedicated
+lizzy gotstyle wanting it and working hard are not enough. It takes incredible talent and a ton of luck.
+Kerryn Roa audition for the summer SAB program.
Amar is extremely good looking... and also talented. So clearly very much out of my league.
And now the skeletons have come out of his closet.
I used to like him-- until the lawsuit.
@@fawnwoods51 what is that lawsuit story?

"Most coveted rank"? I'm not sure. I have talked to many corps members who not ever want to face the pressure soloists face.
Anyone who is hungry for a career and sucess wants that promotion

Chase Finlay (5:00) R.I.P.
And his friend Amar Ramasar (5:20) @kipsymmetry
@@jamesthosbaker Was Amar also involved in the scandal?
Yes
amar is dancing in a german company now but it seems like chase finlay will never dance again.
It's not blatant but these episodes really reveal what a d-bag he always was. Good riddance.
Sarah Mearns i love u
He is a beauty
more pls
it’s worth it
I think Craig hall should be principal
look at where he ended up.
He's a ballet master with the company now👑👑👑👑👑

Interesting seeing chase Finlay pre- scandal and now knowing what was going on bts
Just so creepy to think about.
I'm a dancer and really like to join the nyc ballet but I'm in Malysia
LoL im in turkey 😂😂
+Abril Green so get into SAB.
If you want it, you have to work for it.
people from other countries do get in SAB, with enough drive and talent it's possible.
Arthritis in her BACK??? As a ballerina ??? Omg
I love Jenifer Ringer, Megan Fairchild, Sara Mearns, Ashley Bouder, Peter Martins, Jared Angle, Andrew Veyette, Robert Fairchild, Chase Finlay, and Amar Ramasar.
This show actually made me want to go to ABT more and NYCB less....
Advil every night?
Right.. I have chronic pain and still try to limit Advil intake. Rip to her liver
I freaking love Ashley Bouder
Same, she's so driven, talented and strong.
Same. Her technique is flawless and her performance is unique. I am constantly looking for new videos of her dancing
Damn Africa ♥️😍
advil every night? that's an ulcer waiting to happen...

NewYork ballet

NYCB. And to me it is the best in terms of contemporary work.
SJP's narration is annoying and distracting.
なになに?カムバックだれが??
Awe, Robert Fairchild. He had to retire from NYCB so he could come out of the closet...& be away from Tiler. Good job!!!
He shouldn't have married her in the first place if he was confused about his sexuality. Good riddance to Robert Fairchild. Tiler Peck will be fine.
With so many openly gay ballet dancers that doesn't make any sense. Didn't he just retire from classical ballet to focus on Broadway?
Stopped watching after Chase and Amar came on.

Maybe because it’s America and the majority of the population is white?
I hope Amar comes back next year, he made a stupid mistake but hopefully he learns and he is forgiven by NYCB!
