Kings Fall Must Change (Feat. Above) - Destiny 2 is a video breaking down every single encounter in the hopefully returning raid, Kings Fall! This will go over the opening encounter the Hall of Souls with the ball dunks. Then onto the The Crux and Portico which is the ship jumping puzzle full of skips and chests to collect. Then onto Basilica, better known as totems which needs a lot of work. Warpriest is a great encounter, but it is missing quite a bit as well! Golgoroth will be the most fun in my opinion if bungie can capture the magic they tried to do the first time around! Transept or the wall of trolling is mostly going to be the same, but I hope touch of malice gets a catalyst quest with the basketball court of oryx out here too! Final two encounters may need the most work, Threshold or daughters of oryx or sisters need so much attention here, and Oryx the taken king needs to not be a four phase of damage. Anyways, add in cool age of triumph loot, better intrinsic perks, hard mode loot, and more! Kings fall must and will change!

I doubt there will be Hive Lightbearers as they’re part of Savathûn’s army, so it wouldn’t make much sense if they were in King’s Fall.

People keep talking about mantling making the ship part much easier but they are wrong. It is impossible to mantle on moving platforms.

I think adding champions could be fine but I don't think they should add light hive. It would take me out of it considering this is Oryx's raid and it's supposed to be like reliving the memory of what happened in d1. Light hive are brand new and only with savathun so there's no reason they'd be on the dreadnought with Oryx
Story line wise I agree but I am so tired of champions I would rather it be light hive.
With them being without a “leader” not including her ghost, savathuns army may be trying to take over the dreadnaught or resurrect oryx and his forces as a last resort. That would make for a logical reason to see lightbearing hive, and refresh the boss encounters to have new encounters

Only possible story ark that I could think of would be hive lightbearers trying to find a way to revive savathun and they decide to resurrect oryx to use his hive magic and power to attempt to do so.

There’s a lot I want about Kingsfall to change, but honestly loot is my biggest priority. Kingsfall had some of the worst loot honestly across both games, the weapons are beautiful and I really hope they can finally get the justice they deserve.
I hope the adept versions have a taken aesthetic like they should have had.
Well for starters there are origin traits that are going to be a thing for the raid weapons now, so THAT’S an automatic jump in quality. And then probably a batch of those weapons will be stasis weapons, with S18 all three light elements should be expanded so the raid weapons could tie into those…..
At the time , not many weapons if any had auto loading holster, so the kings fall weapons having cacoon was new
On no don’t worry those guns are going to be great especially with D2’s perk poll

I like how Evan included Above who recently did the D1 raids but is still a talented and respected player. with Evan having the in-depth history and Above having no nostalgia bias allows for a Very good argument of how to adapt Kings Fall to d2

I, for some reason, have a sneaking suspicion that Bungie did what they originally wanted to. The raid is gonna be a mashup of Crota first then kings fall.... Which would be an amazing raid race.

Seen something like this a month or two ago. It definitely would be interesting to get 2 raids combined into 1 raid but alas, we shall wait on Tuesday if they even want to tell us.
They should give us more time than 1 day then. Or just not repeat the entire raid again with challenges

Fr. I’m not gonna pretend I’ve never messed up in a raid but man some of the ppl on kings fall would be so horrible and would drain you completely. Especially since one mistake for the entire 4 phases could wipe you
Gonna be real with ya chief. Any time there's an rng determined encounter in a raid without the ability to make it focusable, like you suggested with warpriest; it's immediately less fun
For King’s Fall, Totems and Oryx would be the 2 encounters that could have champions on normal mode. Ever since GoS, 2 encounters would intrinsically have champions, usually first main encounter and an “in-between bosses” encounter, with at least one other encounter adding a “take too long” champion to it (final boss in GoS, Templar in VoG). Totems could have Barrier Knights spawning on the ledge where players are holding/swapping the aura on the totem, and Oryx could have a max of 2 unstop ogres on random or set plates per phase emerging from the ground. Warpriest and Golgoroth wouldn’t have champs on normal mode. Golgoroth on Master mode could swap out Adept Acolytes for Hive Guardians. Just a theory. Daughters of Oryx wouldn’t have champs on normal. Maybe, one random plate could spawn an overload taken hobgoblin during the running phase, but it would be tricky to pull off

I'm not at all worried on how KF/WOTM will be adapted. Bungie proved themselves with VoG that they can take a D1 raid and make it work in D2. A real challenge will be Crota's End tho.

@@l3R0K3N8BIT I seriously doubt Crotas End will be reintroduced as a dungeon. We're still killing a Hive God which is raid worthy, Crotas End basically set in motion the entire current story of Destiny. It's important, just wasn't so well executed. Also content from the DCV is free.

@@AdamSandal83 True, but I'd argue there weren't any real consequences to that. Killing Crota in Crotas End brought the consequence of Oryx, that led to Riven, The Dreaming City, Savathun, The Witness and basically everything. This is all entirely Bungies fault for messing up Xol in game, and for making Crota a lackluster raid, but it was their second time making a raid at least. I completely believe if Crotas End came back, it would be done better this time round as a raid.

So you don't want Oryx to be overly complicated since you'll have to replay it so much, yet you proposed changes to the other encounters that would make them overly complicated. Right.
10:59 the Challenge for Warpriest was to not have the same person have the aura twice... So that will not work.
I know a lot of people want Wrath back. But I believe King's Fall is the easiest to bring back. Oryx himself and the Daughters are the only sprites that aren't in the game. The Warpriest's sprite/model has been in the game since Warmind. Even Golgoroth's model was in Escalation protocol. We seen the Likeness of Oryx in the Reckoning activity which was just Oryx's Echo/Shade.
They recently said that the engine changes made it harder to port models that came out before shadowkeep. But yeah, its probably gonna be kings fall.
Wrath is actually the easiest to bring into D2 since it was already made with the D2 engine. Plus King's Fall wont be returning since we already had a hive season this year and it wouldnt make much sense to have more than one season with the same enemy theme. Notice that with VoG's return, it was pairing with a Vex season and VoG is a vex raid, Bungie loves their theming. Also we haven't had a fallen season since black armory, over 3 years ago, and Eramis is probably returning too so we gotta tie off that loose end before Lightfall.

I get a lot of sideways glances for this from friends and LFG folks, due to my never having done either raid, but I’m still holding out hope for the return of “wrath of the machine”.
It will be the original vision of KF. Champions don't add difficulty, they add annoyance

As much as I love these videos from Evan, spreading unconfirmed information (if there was a leak I missed that practically confirmed this then I’m sorry) is a pet peeve of mine that really bugs me.
For the ship part in D1, you could sword skate over the entire section iirc
As much as light hive would be fun. Keep in mind this is the old “master” of the sword logic. He is a champion of the dark. The lucent hive would not serve him.

Some of these are great proposed changes, but I really don't think making EVERY encounter overly complex is the way to go. The raids should also be FUN and not tedious. "Complicated" does not necessarily mean "good." Too many mechanics can be bad.
I personally hope we get wrath of the machine, it would honestly fit with arc 3.0, it would fit even more if eramis comes back
Tge exotic problem right now is the thing hurting it (plus im guessing the death zamboni) where crota has the auto rifle and kings fall has touch of malic wrath had outbreak which we have so a whole new exotic has to be made which im guessing is what delayed it to i presume light falls first returning raid

for the war priest encounter and when you need to hide behind a pillar, they should have it so everyone has to be quiet (since everyone is pretty loud from what ive seen) and listen to the war priests "call" he would have 3 different noises and on the back of each pillar would be 3 symbols and each would have a specific call from the war priest so you would have to listen and guess what call was for what symbol.

I’ve never done a d1 raid (being 7-10 at the time) so I enjoy raids being reprised and I hope wrath can get implemented at some point

Making the brand automatically jump to a random player in warpriest with each stack would break the original challenge mode for it.

For the totems, adding randomness would be a very bad idea IMO, considering challenge mode for warpriest required the aura holder to be a different player until warpriest was dead. Unless of course changing how challenge mode works, and adding something that prevented the same person from getting the aura. Kind of like the timer in relic holders in Vow of The Disciple. I also feel adding lucent hive could be both a bad thing and a good thing. Lucent hive is Savathuns thing, but it would be nice to see them used in a raid. Having them replace lighteater knights could be tricky since they need to kill their ghost to actually kill them. Whatever actually happens, I am stoked for the return of Kings Fall.
I agree with leaving rng out of totems. Most people forget that when the servers have enough traffic that encounter craps out in a BAD way, making it nearly unbeatable

The changes mentioned just seem like a way to make it harder for everyone, I prefer not having every single person be required to do something major that will in turn wipe your whole team. That could lead to a lot of rage and also make new players not want to ever do a raid because of how toxic the community is. I think a few refreshers would be fine but honestly just keep it as is.

For Oryx, I think that instead of using the Bombs to damage him and our weapons to stun him, the bombs could instead make him vulnerable, forcing us to use our weapons to damage him instead of just stunning him. This would allow the encounter to go faster if a team has good damage and communication, but also keep the core mechanic in place.

Haven’t played D2 in ages, but had over 110 KF clears in D1. Love this raid and can see coming back to get a hit of that nostalgia. The gear grind and relearning the game to an extent is an impediment but god damn do I miss those days grinding to reach 320 finally.

The legacy raids are supposed to be a retelling of what we already did as guardians. having light hive wouldn't make sense since they didn't exist at the time. champions however aren't story based so they'll probably be in. hopefully not too much though

So I think asking for a light hive is impossible since it would mess with the story mechanics too much. Champions yes definitely but adding light hive would be weird next to Oryx the TAKEN King. It would put me off a bit not to mention the lore community

They could even make it so the bombs during oryx give your team a damage buff against him. This would give you the potential to do more than just 25% each phase. Kinda like the pollen buff in the dog encounter from leviathan.
Just to clarify something.
Both the one player turning into a cursed thrall and exploding in Golgoroth and the Light Eater Knights were only added in Hard mode.
