There are times when raid racing has its highest moments, when 6 players come together to pull off victories on the grand stage and take home trophies symbolizing their miraculous accomplishments. We know this because the final shape will have its grand moment very soon! Then there are times when controversy strikes and it becomes the talk of the destiny community. Some of these are so notorious that I decided it best to make a list of the top 10 raid controversies in Destiny History.

Just picture this, a Worlds first fireteam reaches final damage phase. Every guardian dies except for one, who manages to stick TheWitness with a Witherhoard shot before dying to a Pervading Darkness debuff. The scene is set, music glaring, fireteam shouting on comms. The boss is staggering, his health bar disappears - he's about to die - Error Code: ANTEATER...

Explain please. After all the connection issues with Vow, they extended it to 48 hrs. Every raid after THAT was 48 hrs. Not Kings Fall. Am I missing something here..?

Fun video, but at 14:35, when you say that even Charlie made a video ranting about the difficulty of Roof of Nightmares: that thumbnail is from his video where he played Deep Stone Crypt in 2020, and the video you clipped is from August 2023 when he is says he is disappointed in the state of the game overall (and he does talk about how his team did have such an easy time with RoN that they came back after watching an esports tournament and still beat it). I guess the point is still made, but putting that thumbnail and title that are clearly from before RoN feels a little disingenuous and silly.

He actually just participates in the race every year he likes destiny, just isn’t a “destiny guy”
I remember how buggy Vow was day 1. I was on the reserves for my group until someone had to leave for work so they messaged me on Discord to tell me I was up. We never beat the first encounter since the doors wouldn't open so we had to unfortunately drop out of the race.
Taniks was hilarious. The best meme. Loved it. Loved reading the leaks beforehand and having to hold my tongue when one of my clanmates suggested: "Hey, wouldn't it be stupid if Taniks was one of the bosses?"
Ill have you on stream while at work, and all i can say is i also hope this race takes longer than 48hrs. That wpuld be awesome!

I’m sad that I couldn’t clear nez day 1. I got all the way there with a different team of Lfgs for each encounter, but just couldn’t find a team that could put it all together. It was still a great experience though

RoN was was way too easy, but... the after Elite players complained about the 48hr "day one" for making the contest completion more accessible to non-elite players, when issue was the raid, not the time allowed to complete, it was nice to see them have to be part of the after 24hr club this time around.
Im glad to say Final Shapes Raid really lived up to its name. Datto coming in top 5 with a 26ish hour clear proves that

Atraks-1 wasn't exactly what I would call "near perfect encounter" especially on Day 1 where she would get health back cuz the damage kept bugging
Moving it to 48 hours was a really good idea. That way only the top .00001% has to stay up for 18 hours straight. The rest can run it for 8-10 hours then slee

I came back after 3 years of not playing, 2 weeks before root of nightmares released, joined my old team who were a member short for day one, we cleared it in less than 15 hours lmao, even we said it was waay to easy

I think I have only finished 2 raids and then I was carried and had no idea what I was doing. I've always longed to be in a position to run these raids (lack of being gud + lack of time) so I've really enjoyed watching world first's runs - even when I've not playing the game anymore.

Not only was time extended for the new Raid but only 1 team cleared it.
Root of Nightmares was the wrong raid for Moist Critical and shroud to attempt a day one... imagine they were attempting edge of salvation
GoS, DSC, Crown and scourge are the only raids I never ran even today... given I can't run crown, orscourge anymore but oh well doesn't change the fact I never ran it lol. As for the 2 that are still around I find it hard to run older raids with no experience or ppl willing to run it so this never been done and most likely never will get done

During the final hours of Garden of Salvation contest mode, there were also some server issues causing error codes and this was actually the first time ever (that I remember) when bungie decided to extend the contest window by (I think) 4 hours?

there are destiny players with full time jobs who will take PTO to prep and race for day one because they want to compete with the big dogs. luckily, nowadays, it's super easy to prep for day ones

6:06 I feel like this needs a bit more context. Cruz was banned because he opened Destiny while he had a memory editing program running. These kinds of programs allow you to read and write to the RAM of your PC to hack the game in any way you want, so if you open Destiny or any online game with a program like this open they will straight up ban you. Cruz claimed that he wasn’t trying to cheat in Destiny as he was using this program to modify the Total War game he was playing and accidentally had it running when he opened Destiny. If you believe him then it’s a pretty unfortunate situation, but it also makes a lot of sense why he was banned.

Pretty sure King Gothalian had inside info from bungie when his fireteam got world's first on the Taken King raid. He had visited them right before it was released and bungie was under fire for all the mistakes up to that point. I think they made a deal for Goth to finish first. He was at the height of his popularity at the time. Not sure what the reason for bungie to do that would be, but Goth and his team seemed to figure out things faster than what would be considered reasonable. Almost like they were given clues as to what to look for. I have no evidence. It was just a feeling I got whist watching them do it

Taniks being the deep stone crypt still just annoys me. His fight is by far the weakest part of the raid too. We should have gotten some cool ass exo fallen Taniks at least but nope shank taniks.

I feel like RoN would have been harder if the modding system hadn't just been overhauled. Do y'all remember being able to have empowered finish AND other finisher mods like explosive finisher on at the same time? Just finish an enemy, throw grenade, repeat xD.
Aside from that, nezarec needed substantially more hp than what he started with. Like, y'know how they silently buffed his hp twice during contest mode? Yeah... he needed to start at that.
No bro the raid was just terrible mechanically, combat difficulty sucked & bosses had no health.
No, it was everything. Low hp pool for Nez, bad design of the first encounter and mechanics that were literally the same - save for the Planets. The only thing you had to figure out was the aura (and that didn't take long since you would shoot him anyway as he had the same exposed crits like any other tormentor) and for the planets...they were literally presented to you. The only thing teams had to do was to figure out the dps phase. And now compare that to the vault in LW or Riven legit. It's like a toddler playing with stacking cups and you doing algebra.

The mini raids are the best. I wish they didn't remove them. No one has 3+ hours to do raids.
It takes an hour to clear a raid once you kwtd. The last week before sunsetting we cleared them all on a Friday night incl. Levi prestige. Started at 7 pm and were done just before midnight. Of speedrunners would have needed maybe an hour and a half, lol.
