Good luck on your hunt. I will be using my neighbours Marlin 30-30 who passed away and the family was kind enough to pass it to me... hopefully he guides my hand, if I get a chance. I start my groups at 25 yards, then 50...then 100...I dont own a steady rest, with that there is an easier way to do it.

i think its the hand holding the stock, rest it on the hand dont grasp it, or get a monopod so the front cant wave all over the barrel needs to be steady before you SQUEEZE THE TRIGGER

Scarlet, pallets are all over the place in terms of quality. They're built for the products that will go on them. Which is why some are hardwood, some are softwood, some are built from really thin boards, some thick, etc.

The last 2 standing here are planters that I will really be sad to see go. They have been painted annually with fence paint and maybe is why they have lasted best.

If you watch your film you'll see how much your rifle bounces when you fire. You need to pull it into your shoulder and hold it steady with your left hand for better accuracy. Nice going!
Try resting your barrel on a firm surface and not a blanket. If it's a fix point you might be able to make accurate corrections to your shot. Good luck and have fun.

There could be a few things going on with your shooting. Could be your rifle doesn't like the particular load you are shooting. Your action & barrel connection might be loose. You should be able to freely run a strip of paper between the forestock down to the action (bolt and chamber). If not the barrel and stock could be interfering with each other. Your scope mount might be loose, etc. Hope you can get it tuned in better. Good luck hunting.
This is good advice. Get your thumb off the barrel. Always aim centre point, fire a bunch to obtain your grouping, then adjust your scope, do it again….good luck on Monday!

I've also had to remind myself to hold it in tighter against the shoulder, over the years.

How far beyond your target is any civilization/people? Is that legal in Canada?
It's not that easy to tell, but that's a big hill on the other side of the pond. And there's nobody or buildings for a long ways. Perfectly legal.

We try to get the most out of our chains, Nathalie. They wear out quickly.
